Hi, all.
I just got SanDisk Ultra Plus 128 GB to replace my 1TB 5200 rpm HDD. And i am totally new to SSD. After doing some reading on the net, i found that writing on SSD is not that good as the wearing level will increase. But anyhow, i only have 1 slot for Disk and not 2 slot, thus, secondary HDD isn't work. I will constantly use and external HDD instead to store Musics, Movies, and Pictures. And here come my questions :
- How to move some file to SSD. Is that ok to do so? Example, some important docs i will put in to my SSD. Is that ok to copy into SSD? Will "move" file harming?
- Is that ok to plug my external HDD to my laptop all the time once my laptop is on?
- Is that ok to perform anti virus full scan once a month?
- Is CCleaner good for the registry cleaner and browser cookies cleaner? Will it cause the overwrite problem?
- Windows update will constantly adding file, will this wear down my SSD?

Thanks for taking time to read my question and i am totally new in SSD. Hope some light is shed. smile.gif

There's some articles on the first page, read them if you have time, I took around 3 days to read and understand, plus just follow this thread, you may found interesting stuff going around and way to solve them, optimizing SSD, etc. wink.gif

You are using laptop? If yes, u can consider to buy Caddy bay to pull out the dvd-rw drive out and install back your 1TB HDD.

- Yes, its fine to move/copy files to SSD for fast loading. SSD is eventually wear off due to usage, but the question is how heavy usage u gonna use it for. Writing like 5-10gb per day the SSD probably still at least last 3yrs?

- I'm plugging my ext HDD to my rig without off no problem at all, as long as it doesn't overheat or dropped.

- not sure about anti virus will affect ssd life or not, i suppose it wont since its just a software like others. Even u constantly spam opening & closing photoshop to enjoy seeing the loading speed also no problem, just... a bit ackward  laugh.gif .

- CCleaner just similar answer i would say in above one.

- Window update not everyday update u gb of files, the answer is pretty much a "NO". You worry too much of wearing off SSD instead of enjoying it. SSD isn't a hardware that is eaily broken, unless u to try break it intentionally.

Yes, i am using Laptop, as shown in my siggy.
My 1 TB HDD spoiled, that is why i change to SSD.
Same question as above, how if the internet browser keep caching? Am i supposed to delete it?
Which browser is suitable for SSD?

Thanks in advance. You both are great !!!

You can delete the cache occasionally to free some space.
Else get into browser setting, and set auto delete history/page visited upon exit. Most ppl wont recommend this, coz it will be troublesome in case u wanna visit the website that u forgot what link it is when closing it accidentally.
