1 Brand : not acer
2 Budget : RM 3k-4K
3 Usage : Music/video production, mainly Ableton live, normal work, some matlab, some drupal, I don't play games so the gpu is not important.
4 Screen size : 15.6'' only, must be 1080p, touchscreen not important
5 Requirements : need 1TB of HDD space, 4th gen Haswell processor, i5 or i7 not a big deal.

The model I've found so far that looks good is the HP ENVY TS 15-j003TX . Moreover, it only uses 1 ram slot for the 1600hz 4GB ram so I can always upgrade it later. (But it doesn't have full hd so nevermind....)

or the ASUS N550JV-CN077H, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080; IPS matte) + Bluray@RM3699[2.7kg], 4GB, 1TB, W8, backlit keyboard

(Asus doesn't have online shop?)

If there are any new models that are coming out in a few months I don't mind waiting for it if it's really worth it

Thanks

(Why no one reply yet ah.... my budget too low or what...)

Not budget too low, but too requirements too demanding  laugh.gif
If not looking at your 1TB HDD requirement (can get external one for that), and also RAM slots. Can consider this as well:
15.6"
MSI GE60-2OE, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM4299,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, backlit keyboard

*Price in RRP, nego until RM4k and you are good to go
*
Thanks! Although I'd prefer for the GE60-2OC since I don't need a good gpu.. it's 750GB but it's 7200 rpm so it's great, however laptopmag said that its battery life is only 3 hours plus, which is a huge put off...

Maxed out RE-15 can cost up to RM20k  laugh.gif
For more details on the Y510, please ask the owners, they will have better feedback.

As for the Asus, the specs seemed pretty awesome, just take note of Asus Malaysia's poor warranty services.

For your budget, can consider the MSI as well:
15.6"
MSI

GE60-2OC, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3099,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB
GE60-2OC, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3599,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB

GE60-ONC, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX675M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3299, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

MSI - only carry-in warranty. so far reputation is still ok.
Lenovo - carry-in warranty, depends on which SC you send to (some SC centre has pretty awful reputation, some SC centre is ok) laugh.gif But Lenovo offer buyers to upgrade Y series warranty to 3 year on site, and that on site warranty service is pretty decentĀ  thumbup.gif

Really? Nice to know biggrin.gif How much the the price for the Lenovo onsite 3 year warranty? And how to get it?

about MSI I searched around after posting in this thread, I heard a lot of complaints... mainly need to pay labour cost and cannot upgrade ram or HDD by ourselves..

Lenovo Y series in Malaysia normally come with 2 years carry-in warranty. Upgrade to 3 years on site warranty cost < RM200. When you buy, just ask the re-sellers, they can arrange to buy the upgrade for you.

MSI - labour cost?  hmm.gif As long as under warranty, labour and parts are covered. Upgrade of RAM and HDD is pretty much depend on the location of "warranty void if broken" seals inside the laptop. MSI gaming series normally is pretty OK with these.

check with owners here for 1st hand feedback.

And about MSI, I heard about the complaints from that thread lah biggrin.gif

We have not seen any 14" ultrabook with Haswell CPU yet in Malaysia.
If you can, wait a bit and come back after mid-Oct (when W8.1 roll out), brands will launch more models in preparation of year end holiday.

Ah? Meaning that there's a chance that there will be better models than the y510p?
