Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3099[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

MSI
GE60-2OC, i5-4200M + Nvidia GT750M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3099,8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8, steel series KB

If its me, I will go for the MSI since these notebooks are designed specifically for gaming. And not to mention the relatively weaker CPU will mean less heat nod.gif

Lenovo Y510P

Illegear RE-15

Which is best bang for buck for me? smile.gif No gaming but rendering, editing and programming.
*
A maxed out Illegear RE-15 will be your best pick laugh.gif
Please state your budget so we know how much you have available.
If you have a budget of RM3.5k, then go for the Y510p since it has the most powerful CPU among your list. RE-15 is a bit over your budget, and without OS some more sad.gif

hi to all forumers.....

need help recommendation for a new notebook price range

rm1200?

any suggestions???? and want to know about lenovo services??? it is top services like dell or the worse like asus??

tq
*
Lenovo's normal, carry-in warranty services should be average hmm.gif

Can consider this one:
14"
Dell Inspiron 14-3421, 1007U + Intel HD@RM999[1.99kg], Linux, 2GB, 500GB(5400rpm), 4-cell; W8SL@RM1099

Use remaining budget to extend warranty to 3 years onsite (~RM250) icon_rolleyes.gif

Maxed out RE-15 would cost me how much? sad.gif Basically my budget would be 3.5k +-

Is there any problems for lenovo Y510 such as poor heat dissipation or shrink keyboard and touchpad problem sad.gif
Freedos would be okay smile.gif How about the ASUS? Seems nice with the price tag as the screen is IPS smile.gif

Anyway,if take illegear, how many years of warranty do you think I should opt for?
*
Maxed out RE-15 can cost up to RM20k laugh.gif
For more details on the Y510, please ask the owners, they will have better feedback.

As for the Asus, the specs seemed pretty awesome, just take note of Asus Malaysia's poor warranty services.

For your budget, can consider the MSI as well:

Hi Sifu,
Any people try this model? How is the performance on game like Starcraft 2, diablo 3 on medium and high setting? Battery performance max can last how many hours in single full charge?

  Inspiron 14R, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2049 [2.32kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8 , 6 cell

Afaik its still too new to have reviews I'm afraid. Its hard to find reviews for Inspiron units since they have alot of different variants with different specs sad.gif

Check this place out for GPU performance comparisons: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Computer-Game...ds.13849.0.html
As for the battery, can expect around 3-4 hours at dimmest screen, Wifi surfing

Not really, iirc its pretty expensive, especially when the warranty support is bad hmm.gif

Yeap,this is what I worried sad.gif

Thanks for the suggestion, how about this second hand unit? https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=2843787&hl= is it worth?
*
Depends, if the condition is good, and if the warranty is covered by Illegear in Malaysia (rather than need to send to US), then its a pretty good pick, the specs are awesome nod.gif

Check everything, from physical defects to functionality.
As for warranty coverage, ask Illegear nod.gif

thanks alot sifu!!, may i ask what the difference between Nvidia gt series and gtx series? which is better? recently i go to the shop the salesmen intro me msi GP 60, is it nice? thank you very much!

Although it varies from model to model, old vs new etc.. But in general GTX level cards are better than GT cards nod.gif

The GP60 is not that worth it:

Hi guys,

1. Preferred Brand, Any
2. Budget, not more than RM2500
3. Usage: will be describe below:
4. Preferred laptop/screen size, around 10" (or your recommendation)

I not sure if I prefer laptop or a tablet or a hybrid laptop/tablet or tablet with sliding keyboard will be suitable for my usage. (please give me your opinions)

The purpose of getting this will be use as website presentation, get client to watch the display and explore the features inside the ecommerce site.

Play powerpoint slides/ and videos/photos.

I would also need to key-in details and also point-of-sale purpose, therefore i need ergonomic keyboard.

Therefore, I concern on the sounds, above average will be great. Display and color richness will be deal breaker during the presentation. and support Bluetooth keyboard will be great too.

Note: not required powerful specs, coz not for gaming or video/photo editing. Only use it as a tool for salesman to close a deal. (Presentation and point of sale)

Haswell-processors start with a "4" prefix i.e. i5-4200U

Hey gys, looking for recommendation for a laptop, hope yo gys can give some awesome advice.

1. Preferred Brand: I'll say MSI or Asus. Other brands are ok as long as not Acer or DELL
2. Budget: Try to keep it below RM3k
3. Usage: Engineering software, heavy mltitasking ie: chrome with 10+ tabs, ms office, music/video, bunch of other software
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: Try to keep it at 14' if possible, max is 15.6' hopefully biggrin.gif

Hopefully the spec can be at least or better than: 4th gen core, 4gb ram, 1 gb graphic, 500gb hdd, ssd if possible (i hate waiting XD)

Not sure whether i want to go for ultrabook (fast boot, longer lasting battery, light-weight) or gaming laptop (better graphic, better performance) as I'm quite the heavy user sad.gif

Thanks y'all
*
These are usually the ones compared for a budget of RM3k nod.gif

MSI
GE60-ONC, i5-3230M + Nvidia GTX675M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM3299, 4GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

Performance-wise, the quad i7 in the Lenovo really stands out among the others laugh.gif
The rest is not that importnat since you are not really into gaming hmm.gif

Hello sifu

Need help recommend a good laptop..

1. Preferred Brand : Any with good quality.... besides ACER
2. Budget : 2k can be slightly up a bit..
3. Usage : Normal gaming, if possible can play CS:GO, WoW, DOTA 2 high/ultra setting..
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 14 inch n above....

Ivy bridge/Haswell model  if possible..
Might use it for a long period, so battery life n weight isn't so important..

Mind to list at least 5 option and which one you prefer and why.

thanks in advance..

Lenovo Z400, i5-3230M + Nvidia GT740M@RM2099, 4GB, 1TB, W8; 2 years warranty; colors: chocolate *EOL-ed

Toshiba Satellite L40-AS109Xb/G/W, i5-3337U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2199[Onkyo], 4GB, 750GB, 3 years local warranty; colors: Blue/gold/white

Pretty much these three.
For the Dell, extend warranty to 3 years-onsite (~RM250) and you have the best warranty service backing you up.
The Lenovo offers the most processing power though you won't be able to tell the difference based on your usage. This notebook is not easy to find/upgrade as well
Go for the Toshiba if you want 3 years (carry-in) warranty straight away.

My vote goes to Dell here, if you have the budget to extend the warranty nod.gif

how about lenovo y410p? specs wise it checked most of my ist except no ssd, price wise itz rm2700 so is there a reason why you did not list it here? just curious...

for your info i kinda into gaming as well jz nt that hardcore lk some

Oh, usually 15 inchers are more powerful and cooler (because of the larger space available for heat dissipation), and not to mention the big and FHD screen will allow a lot of workspace for your engineering work icon_rolleyes.gif
But if you don't mind a smaller notebook, the Y410p is a great choice as well laugh.gif
