It all depends on your budget I would say
Being an amateur photographer who do quite a lot of photo editing. I am finding my 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM a bit lacking in performance and also space (SSD), especially when handling big, RAW files
But 256GB and 8GB is still sort of the "sweet spot" in terms of price/performance.

If your budget allows and if you need to buy in a hurry, get the 128GB SSD and also 8GB. Otherwise, save more and go for 256GB and 8 (or 16GB) RAM

+1, not just "enough" its Overkill already
DOn't really need to spend so much on gaming machines

Well, most people do not have the budget to get an AW 17
As for the AW14, unless if one specifically wants a 14 incher, yet not worried about the weight, then we recommend the AW 14. But most people who wanted a powerful, smaller 14 incher will probably want it to be light weight and slim as well, where the MSI GE40 will be the better choice

The previous M14x was such a hit because it was the only 14" gaming notebook that time when released
Still, there will always be buyers of Alienwares because its probably most people's (including me) dream notebook
