Yeah, no one is denying that man, especially in terms of the screen and also efficiency, but you do realize that the cheapest MBP 15 also starting from RM5.5k?
And the MBP 13 do not have enough GPU juice for proper editing unfortunately

Just wondering what do you mean by swappable odd? Saw the hdd only runs at 5400rpm which is pretty slow..
*
I'm assuming you are referring to the ultrabay
Lenovo's Y400, Y410p, Y500 and Y510p has a bay which allows u to swap with other components like an extra fan, extra graphic card, optical drive in this case etc.

hi, looking to get a new notebook.

1. Preferred Brand- any
2.  rm2.2k
3. normal video streaming and occasional casual gaming
4. 14inch

would like to enquire about various brand's warranty and etc..    what it covers and etc.
thanks
*
If you are concerned about warranty support, then its definitely a Dell for you laugh.gif
And this one fits just nice
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT740M@RM2049 [2.32kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W8 , 6 cell

Use your remaining budget to extend onsite warranty to 3 years (~RM250). Should be within your budget if you bargain (prices in RRP) icon_rolleyes.gif

Dell on-site warranty covers all non-accidental hardware damages to your Dell (apart from the battery and adapter which is only covered for a year). Whenever anything happens, give Dell a call, they will remote diagnosis (through phone) your problem, and if needed, send over a technician within 1-2 business days to fix your notebook on the spot. So there's noneed for you to bring your notebook to service centres and wait up to 2 months just for repairs nod.gif

Hi, shd i buy lenovo z400 or s410p?
I like the s410p so much... but it is not in stock right now.. shd i wait?
My uni starts at next week... The salesperson said the stock will come next week
*
Just wondering, what's so special abuot the S410p? hmm.gif
It looks pretty similar to the Z400 in terms of design.. maybe color difference only? laugh.gif

I guess it depends on what you want, and also whether you can wait.

Do take note that the S410p is designed for longer battery lives = weaker performance. Not really good if you are into gaming or anything.
THe Z400 on, the other hand, is more geared towards performance, but not that good in terms of battery life and weight nod.gif

Looking for non easily heat lappy.... laat time i use acer it broke down around 1 year lols

Unfortunately relatively "budget" notebooks do not have good cooling systems, especially when you are looking for a powerful one laugh.gif Performance, cooling efficiency and cheapness don't come together laugh.gif

You can either (1) top up and go for dedicated gaming machines; (2) go for a low performance machine which generates less heat; (3) try your luck with a bang-for-buck machine (+ providing regular maintenance i.e cleaning the fans and heat sink)

For (3):
14"
Dell Inspiron 14R, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) @RM2499[2.32kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), Ubuntu 12.04 , 6 cell; W8SL@RM2699

Lenovo Y400, i7-3630QM + Nvidia GT750M@RM2499, 4GB, 500GB, FreeDOS, 120wPSU, swappable ODD, 2 years warranty

Again, MBA (i.e. 11) starts from at least RM3k, which is out of kawaii87's budget. Please recommended appropriately, this is not your first time nod.gif

And yes, no fanboyism here, either you recommend appropriately, or go visit Apple Byte nod.gif

Please take this as a kind reminder. You have the knowledge to recommend properly, if you want, please do (you are allowed to get information on specs and models from the LYN catalog thread), we need all the help we can get icon_rolleyes.gif

2004? THat's a very long time ago man haha...
Usually the average life span for a notebook is ~3 years. Anything more than that is very good already thumbup.gif

QUOTE(Live4eva @ Aug 28 2013, 12:38 PM)
Guys recently i have been searching for a laptop that low in weight and high in specs.
This is for both work and gaming purposes. A laptop that fulfills 2 important part of my life.
And after browsing around i found the Razer blade 14".
I am most impressed by its low weight around 1.8kg? With decent  specs in terms of processor and graphics.
Though the price tag is a bomb, but i am more worried about the laptop's heating up issue as i looking to use it almost full hours of my daily life. Any of the sifu's here can share some feedback on this laptop? notworthy.gif
*
Apart from some of the drawbacks mentioned by xproc, you have to worry about warranty support in Malaysia as well. Repairs are done in Singapore. nod.gif
Powerful but slim notebooks will definitely get hot, its inevitable.

Can consider these as well:
13"
Illegear Configure Illegear units here: http://www.illegear.com/
RE-13 Pro, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GTX765M + (1920x1080 IPS)@RM4299[2kg][Onkyo, SoundBlaster Cinema], 8GB, 500GB 7200RPM, Backlit Keyboard, FreeDOS, [CPU Options: i7-4700MQ - i7-4900MQ]

14"
MSI GE40-2OC, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GTX760M + (1600x900; anti-glare)@RM3999[1.8kg], 8GB, 750GB(7200rpm), W8

QUOTE(kawaii87 @ Aug 28 2013, 12:56 PM)
Er one more thing..is this consider good spec?

hp pavillion m4-1002tx
intel core i7-3632QM processor
(2.2Ghz with turbo boost up to 3.2 Ghz)
4gb ddr3 ram
1tb hdd
nvidia geforce 730m 3d graphic
(2Gb ddr3)

usb 3.0 1x usb 2.0 HDMI,VGA, RJ-45 win 8 64 bit

2. Budget                              - up to 2.5 - 3.0k
3. Usage                                - office use
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - 14-15 inch

Can consider this one:
14"
Lenovo
(1) ThinkPad Edge E430, i3-3110M + Intel HD4000@RM2299[2.2kg], W7P, 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm), anti-glare
(2) ThinkPad Edge E430, i5-3220M + Intel HD4000@RM2599[2.2kg], W7P/W8, 4GB, 750GB (5400rpm), anti-glare

*Prices in RRP
*For (1), use remaining budget to upgrade the HDD to SSD, and extend warranty to 3 years on-site
For (2), extend warranty to 3 years on-site (don't think can afford a SSD with the remaining budget)

You can also take a look at Dell Vostro and Latitude units as well, preferably the latter. But this one you need to deal directly with Dell for specs and price since they are not readily available sweat.gif

QUOTE(helo @ Aug 28 2013, 03:57 PM)
1. Preferred Brand
lenovo or asus
2. Budget
below 2.5k
3. Usage
accounting student - surf the net, assignments, play videos and musics
4. Preferred laptop/screen size
14 inches and below

now looking at asus s400ca, lenovo s410p, want it to be light weight below 1.9kg

1)why asus s300ca same spec with s400ca but more expensive?

2)how's the built quality of s410p? is it using the problematic realtek wifi card? is u series better than s series?

3) should i wait for lenovo u330 or a refreshed version of s400ca with haswell processors?
*
Asus K46 are 2kg in weight, so out already laugh.gif

Pretty much Lenovo units here:
14"
Lenovo
S400, i3-2365M + AMD HD7450M@RM1699[1.8kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm), W7HB
S400, i5-3317U + Intel HD4000 + 24GB mSATA + 500GB(5400rpm)@RM1999[1.8kg], 4GB, W7HB; AMD HD7450M/W8@RM2199
S410p, i5-4200U + Nvidia GT720M +(1366x768, touch)@RM2399[1.8kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8, 2 yrs
S400T, i5-3337U + AMD HD 7450M +(1366x768, touch)@RM2099[1.8kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8
S400T, B987 + Intel HD4000 + (1366x768, touch)@RM1499[1.8kg], 4GB, 500GB, W8

*Prices in RRP, negotiable
* Try to go for the old S400 with mSATA, its much faster nod.gif

(1) 13" notebooks are generally more expensive than their 14/15" counterparts, probably because they are harder to make and design; and are less in numbers

(2) Too early to tell, I haven't seen and touched any S410p yet laugh.gif But I don't think they have WiFi issues. That was resolved ever since the S400 afaik.

(3) Buy when you need, wait if you can nod.gif
