a bit on the high side . I got mine only for rm410
*
Might be due to currency weakening? But I think it should be hovering around the rm500 mark. I've seen shops selling the new Bambino at higher price compared to the v1 and 2's so that might account for the price difference as well.

QUOTE(deftons @ Apr 8 2016, 08:41 PM)
Wonder if anyone did claim warranty for your Orient watches bought from Citytime before? I asked citytime regards to their International warranty stated on the product page, they said if we would like to claim warranty, it's better and easier if we send it back to them. Doesn't sounds right to me, sounds very fishy. Anyone can clarify this, please?
*
Not fishy, just easier. Most shop will ask you to go back to their shop, probably to earn a little on the charges but also to ensure complaints are kept to a minimum. Many times people buy from shop A, go to change things from shop B, then blame shop A for any issues subsequently.

You can still claim it from any authorised dealers on the warranty.

QUOTE(peet @ Apr 12 2016, 02:17 AM)
It's not fishy. They probably sent it back to the factory here... btw Orient watches sold here came from factory in M'sia.
Japan factory produces for domestic and US market. If not mistaken, there is also a Philippines factory... can't remember.
In S'pore, they sell the Japan versions but costs more.
*
That's Seiko, not Orient.

From what I've seen from the official orient usa and jp websites, the recommended retail prices of open heart models is higher than classic models both in usd/yen

That's why I was baffled
*
Because RRP is a pointless reference point when it's being used to justify the "discount" you enjoy. Whatever amount they put is pretty much up to their discretion.

I still somehow like the old separate day date winder rather than the current one for some reason.

It may be better with the date pusher, aesthetically.
Have you tried using it though?
It's a PITA I tell you!
You have to unscrew two crowns everytime you need to set the watch, and don't get me started with the pain if you accidentally advanced the date.  doh.gif
*
Yea, I had it with my old Mako blue tongue.gif

That's the Monarch. Didn't realise its' 1.3k, thought it would hover around 600-800... 1k above usually is for the Stars range.. hmm.gif

orient sun moon also rm1k+.
all also overlapping like seiko and seiko 5.
got few more orients close to rm2k also... maybe more now.
*
It's a solid watch, but I'm not sure at that price point it will continue to be that frugal option it used to be.. or perhaps our currency have sucked so much it's expected these days.

well monarch after 30% discount is rm945...on amazon its rm750.
so definitely not currency doing its job...its orient here doing their shady job tongue.gif

and after reading its review on wornandwound, its clear that the domed sapphire accounts for the extra price.
but i dont understand why it has a 18mm lug width when the case is 40mm.
and having exhibition caseback to display the movement's fuglyness is just  rclxub.gif
*
Orient always have the policy of getting everything right but one tongue.gif

I think they are tapping into the casual classy on a cheap market. Probably why they also have open heart for a movement that has nothing much to shout about.

Nope, Mako USA as the name suggests, will not be available outside US formally.

Actually this price I can't even confirm yet. Sales person offered 20% which ended up at 1645. My friend who works in sungei wang says he can maybe get 1500. Thank you for the note. I will survey further.
*
Think you might be able to get cheaper than 1.5k, when i was checking them out it was only 1.1-1.2k or so iirc... unless our weak currency affects the pricing..

The best price is probably the 40% off you get when they do a sale, and that it applies to the USA.

bambino v4 has reached singapore...
has the new movement that can hack and handwind... guess same one in mako 2.
now to wait for mako 2...

I think Orient is somehow able to pinpoint small things that annoys me and spoils their watches for me every time. They improve on things earlier, then decides to give it red tips and short hands dry.gif dry.gif
