what u do in jobstreet?
i mean, do you develop software and so on?

because software eng as i understand they are developing the software or you can call it engineering tools to be sold together with their semicon product....

in term of job satisfaction and benefit wise, altera wont be below to jobstreet so down to the question is what is your work type preferences and wat software eng do in jobstreet compare to altera

i got jobstreet offer already, but altera pass first interview and waiting for their call.

well, jobstreet is doing web base system, they offer me a job that working in R&D department for maintaining and research about jobstreet's online system.

i get a call from jobstreet and i told them i'm still considering about altera, and she(a job consultant) tell me that altera got high pay but very few exposure and software tools they use are just for their own product, so if u want change company, it's quite hard for u because you only learn c/C++ for their product.

she continues to mention that jobstreet is different, they will send me for training, expose to new technology, and is not like working in a factory and keep coding only.

so you guys think what she said is true? actually i can work with c/c++ or .net as well coz i know both of them. And now the problem is regarding my future i think once i step into either, there is no turning back for me. and i have to keep moving onward on the particular language.

what she say is "almost" true. working in a mnc is about specializing ur skill. so basically u wont handle job far away from your own job scope. smaller company tent to do "one leg kick" and handle more of the related job.

regarding about training and expose to new technology, there is not much diff.. company do send their staff for training... and keep their staff up to date on what happening around the industry....

whether altera or jobstreet.. then u have to think what type of work env u like and what the opportunity you have in both company lo.... like wat you have in the next 3 years?

bare in mind that know more and handle more job responsibility doesnt mean better pay in future.... example will be u know alot of coding language, but u wanted to jump to a company tat specilize C++, so ur other coding language experience is not relevent anymore.. this is where the generalist and the specilist case come in.... get wat i mean ar? poor english sorry..

just talk to both party more question although both company will try to brain wash u....

hope it help.. good luck

thanks for you advice. one question regarding working at altera, do i have any chance to expose to customers or other parties rather than sitting and coding? i don hopes to sit and code everyday, but i hope at least got 10-25% of time can go out to meet customer or somebody.

anyone know more about altera can answer me this question?

nope chances meeting customer are towards 0%. you will talk to Apps Engineer and those ppl come out with the software requirement....

so basically, you stay in the factory...
