Assume that you're not that rich or not that poor, just in average category, which one would you choose. Foreign car or local car? And why?

Hm. To me it is Conti > Korean > Local > Japanese. I would thus buy a second hand conti, save a lot of cash and have enough for repairs or other emergencies, if there should be any.

QUOTE(anggaPra @ Jun 25 2013, 10:53 PM) Assume that you're not that rich or not that poor, just in average category, which one would you choose. Foreign car or local car? And why? Foreign car cuz I just don't have confidence yet in local cars, especially Proton (unless they're using Japanese engines like Inspira or Myvi). Except if compared to China cars, I'd rather buy Proton. QUOTE(kadajawi @ Jun 25 2013, 11:09 PM) Hm. To me it is Conti > Korean > Local > Japanese. I would prefer Japanese in the 1st place.
Maintenance and parts had not big issue. Even half cut still have a lot can be find. Euro car no confident, the RV quote lower than Japanese car. From now can see on Korean car selling price can be easily higher than Japan car. Korean/Euro car no RV after 10 yrs in used condition. China car still not much in m'sia market yet. Assuming same price range, local car.
Only Proton Inspira is worth it in the local car range. Preve, just average. Others are shite. Assuming Proton Inspira 2.0 at RM90k++, there is no Japanese sedan that can offer the similar features and driving dynamics as the Inspira. To get an almost same level of performance one has to pay RM120k+ for an equivalent Japanese sedan ie. the Civic 2.0. |

Unless is buy the parts from outside spare parts shop and service outside workshop. From what I knew the proton SC is suck! Worst than Perodua SC. |

QUOTE(swgiant @ Jun 26 2013, 12:58 PM) Can elaborate more on Asean Spec Japanese and JDM specs ? Not very clear with JDM specs and what so special with them. Can a reconded of import car consider JDM specs? ASEAN spec cars are made for 3rd world countries. Lower safety standards, cars that the Japanese or Europeans would not buy because they are not good enough. Unless the cars are so damn cheap that they are willing to overlook that, for example Dacia. The problem with recons (I think they should be JDM) is that they are probably tampered with. High mileage cars where they rewind the meter for example. Polish it up and suddenly it can be sold at a high price. Since the only way to drive a new European/Japanese/US standard car is a conti... RV... don't care. Buy second hand. |
