Hi Guys,
Recently my Ac starts having problem...

The ac is warm when idle . So i recently went to a workshop where they specialise in fixing car ac and i was told the whole system is sown and needs replacement.

Was quoted around rm1100.

Idk man but its quite pricey for me.

Sifus, i need help... is it worth the fix?
*
My aircon is warm during cold start only (20seconds), then it will gradually become cool.
Can't tell which parts of yours need replacement. Pipes? Compressor? Cooling coil? Radiator Fan?
1.1k is not a small sum. I will only spend unless absolutely necessary. If you are budget concern like me, identify which part spoilt first, or get second or third opinion.

Share with us the progress, thanks =)

what's the advantage of using coolant? Is it cool down the car faster in hot weather? Or prevent overheating? is the advantage obvious? For my car, aircon knob 2 and above when running is OK. But vibrating if idle. (Knob 1 is fine and sufficient for me)
*
Coolant is just to ensure that your radiator dont have any sediments or foreign coagulation only. The advantage comes in the long run. Pipe water if left overnight and you boil it according to engine temperature, you'll see foreign stuff. Yea somehow the engine does vibrate cuz it's a 3 cylinder...

Just some update:

A. Change 2 brake disc and brake pad (ori pro2:$80) including workmanship $300. I change coz my brake rosak due to hit road hump.

B. Schmaco Mounting 3pcs plus installation : $385 + $85 (the workshop owner said $85 was to cheap since he took more than half a day to get it done. Said harga regular customer only.

C. Kayaba front absorber, Absober mounting (ori), Lower arm, Lower arm bush, Tie rod end, Rod end, Absorber cover, all rubber parts, Driveshaft & installation: $1320 + $250
(All items repair both side left and right. I didnt change the drive shaft as exceed budget. Above were quoted. Final amount i paid without the driveshaft was $1126)

Result after doing B: no more heavy vibration, no dashboard rattling.

Result after doing C: different feeling. I can't remember how the car was when first bought new. A bit heavy steering feel. No vibration at all, no more gluk gluk sound coming from beat up mounting. I think it's worth it. My car is from 2004. And knowing how hard i drive the car, it deserve the parts replacement. Why i change all this? Went to tyre shop and said cant do aligment due to tie rod cant adjust (i think this what the fella said). Since i just replace new set of michelin tyre, so i decided to to preform all above as i do not want tyre makan xrata.

Do share your comment and opinion on the above pricing. Hope can be a guide to others. Owh. I know that i can get cheaper by buying the parts directly with spare part shop and ask workshop to do installation, but he wont be responsible any product defect. So i proceed with him to get me everything so incase have issues in future, he'll take responsibility for the repair.

Hi angels,

I think your updates are reasonable, you change quite a lot of things, And save a lot compared to doing at sc I think.

So the things haven't change are, driveshaft, aircon and engine overhaul, are they still in good conditions?

I had problem start my car just now. Battery is OK, and found the old radio is causing the no-crank. Now still can fly 😄

Aircond still have issue. If idling under hot weather, aircond will blow hot air. If moving no issues. At night also no problem due to external cool temperature. Suspect compressor. I had replaced 3 times for compressor previously. Huhu.

Nowdays my car very slow to go beyond 110km/hr. Compared when new which easily go up to 140-150. Odo clock at 300100km just now. Leaking issue i try to sort out since all gasket has harden phase by phase. Still have issue with engine oil dropping low level. No idea why still have this issue. Example change EO, only last 3000km and need to top up.

Driveshaft no issue yet as told by workshop.

Trying to keep it at good condition since i still used this car for daily driving as it is low maintenance and i can be really aggresive when driving it.

By the way, how does the old radio have anything related with no crank? Is it due to electrical problem?

1. Mounting and leaking 1K++
2. Top overhaul 700
3. Plug coil 400++
5. Absorber front 160 per pcs
6. Absorber rear 140 per pcs
7. Brake Pad 65
8. Change all the hose
9. Change timing belt

total = 4.1k inclusive labour

Is the pricing okay? This is the 2nd time send my car to this shop. First time, only normal service, then he told me got leaking.
Once check, he said need to change all above. The timing belt, I've change it before, when the mileage 160k.
Do give some opinion as I'm noob about car. Appreciate it. Thanks!

All seems ok except absorbers. Get from accessory shop. KYB back a piece is at most RM90. Front a bit more expensive but not until that.

my question would be do you really need to do all that? Go other workshop and ask for 2nd opinion. My car is 2004 mileage is 300k and i never change any hose except for aircond hose and havent do any overhaul too. Doing all that might as well change new engine.
