Its a markup price. Proton have to get parts from mitsu.
A simple example your key. Proton sell rm558. Mitsu malaysia if not mistaken below 400. Proton still need to spend money to change the badge behind the key.

Dun juz listen to our malaysian's relative aunty or whom so ever. Work as proton salesman also work in proton.

If u have a bit knowledge on manufacturing. You will know to build a moulding for metal cost millions. And the amount of sales arent enuf to cover back the moulding alone. Not to mention the material and so on. be it proton or mitsu, think in a business way, proton sell car want earn money, so as mitsu. So if number of sells not going to be high (even their initial plan was like around 2k car per month only) . Do you think in a logic business mind will they localize so many parts for local production? If u were parts supplier to proton, u willing to sell them little quantity with cheap price? Your brain your believe.. Mr JDM stated its 80% localize as for your reference

outside cap ayam only cost less than RM5

if u r talking about mivec (our 4B10 / 11) sadly to tell u this. It is nothing special, commonly available in automotive industry already. Even viva comes with dvvt , altis dvvt, sonata.. Many have this tech. Its juz inlet n exhaust cam timing alteration.. Nothing to hoooo haaaa..

even our ASC , ESP .. hammielanjiao (Hammie not calling u .. dun perasan) .. .. all OEM from bosch geh .. when i install my ASC .. there was a BMW beside me in the workshop .. the pump looks exactly the same .. all the pins are same .. lolz .. and it cant be use on our car.. coz the software is preprogram to commucate with our system.

As for forte chasis .. no .. its different.
