Thanks. But I couldn't find it. You mean page 5 of which chapter? My manual's page no is based on the chapters (ex; page 5 chapter 3 means page 3-5).

chapter of introduction... maybe our manual is not the same... haha

QUOTE(onlinepaycheck @ May 8 2014, 11:41 PM)
I am now down to City V or Cerato 1.6
I need a normal decent family car. The Cerato sportier look and gadgets interest me....
Basically same consideration points as yours; average maintenance cost and free of major problem.
Another thing I am looking at is fuel consumption.... I have been reading in LYN and FB for a few months (I'm in no hurry to change car with immediate effect). I have been getting mixed response on fuel consumption for Cerato 1.6

City V is providing 15 to 17 km/L on highway with a little city drive.
But Cerato 1.6 is only yielding 12-15 km/L

Would like to know if the average for Cerato 1.6 really falls into that range. (say 80% highway 20% city ratio)
*
i owns a Cerato 1.6 and a Myvi 1.3 manual... even when i drive Myvi >90% highway it achieved bout 15.8km/L only... if City V spec can go min 15km/L no need buy hybrid cars already...

where do you get the FC readings for City from? the meter readings? if from meter readings my 1.6 Cerato got 17.8km/L before...
but real life calculation do fall into the range you mentioned... 70% highway bout 11.8 - 12.5km/L... normal footed...

Thanks for your input. I saw some person posted the screen shot on the city v radio unit in LYN.
My wira 2002 1.5 auto is in average of 12.8 km/L and 2009 myvi 1.3 auto at average of 15.0 km/L
I was hoping a new car to be more fuel efficient than a proton 12 years back in tech.
*
you must be very light footed then rclxms.gif
normally i drive myvi get 13-14 km/L only...

but i used to have a 1.3 wira at home and was getting about 11 km/L only... the cerato 1.6 which is a bigger and heavier car is giving better mileage... guess old engine deteriorates over time...

anyway, even paul tan's team reviewing the 'MIGHTY' vios also get 11+ km/L in real life only... so i sincerely doubt city will give a min 15km/L figure...

Read in K3 club in Facebook, got someone who just bought k3 for a month but dissatisfied with her car because got to much problem. Having read this, it's very scary for me who is in planning to buy a cerato.
*
ya i read that too...

not to be bias but she did a lot of after market upgrade in her car... like chassis foaming and orsen shield... im kinda skeptical for chassis foaming since its playing with the rigidity of the car...

correct me if im wrong, her issues are minor issues like alignment out and rattling noises... her frustration is more on the SC in batu caves i think... i think bro Perror issue more serious...
i cant find the post in the FB page anymore... her original post and the screenshots... not sure if someone is deleting it and hiding something sweat.gif

maybe you can hold on your purchase until you get some news/closure from her... wait for Raya discount or something tongue.gif

my car is 7 months and 19k mileage now... no issues except some rattling noise on my steering and centre console, which some of the owners solved by some SC... so im just hoping to find out which SC can do the job well... i've been to the Sri Kembangan SC twice they checked but still not resolved...

Hi, your 1 is ok, my 1 just start engine with P (mean free gear) the L/100KM is can go 50L/100KM,
But once start run the car , will drop to 9-15L/100KM.

Is yours same ???
Thank you.
*
chill man... no need post the same thing all over again...

first of all, do you understand what does L/100km means?

let me try to explain to you... the L/100km in your meter is actually forecast fuel consumption and not actual fuel consumption... 8L/100km meant that, 1 liter of fuel can go 12.5km... so the lower the L number, the better your fuel consumption...

so since it is a forecast FC, it wont be just be at one number, depending on how you drive the car... the more you accelerate, the higher the L number is... since it burn more fuel to go a said distance...

as for you getting 50L/100km when you in P and just reset, then drop when you move... it is because it calculates the fuel used VS distance traveled... when you start engine, it is already burning fuel... but since you're at P means you not moving at all, so distance traveled is 0km... let say you used 1liter and didnt move 0km, so it give you the max reading...
once you start moving, the distance traveled increased, so it forecast a better FC... lets say you traveled 12.5km and used 1 liter of fuel, so the reading goes to 8L/100km...

so its not an issue at all... the number in the meter doesn't control your FC but your right foot does...

dont you guys think the roof line of cerato a bit too low? I'm not tall but there's hardly any room above your head especially for the seats behind
*
its low becoz of the design... but you try sitting in Mazda 3 and Elantra back seat, its lower than k3, even for ppl my height at 176cm... i dunno why Elantra and k3 share same chassis but Elantra roof line feels much lower...

Another update to my issue. The technician called me back and told me issue no,1 we will monitor for 1 week and he will arrange for us to inspect it together at a SC.

Issue no.2, loss of engine power, he has escalated to his colleagues.

Good to know that they are genuinely interested in trying to find the problem.
*
good to hear that Naza service has come a long way... which SC you went to? will give their service a try..
keep us posted about the issues and fixes...

but your issue 1 and 2 seems like a major issue, no one else experiencing the same?

agreed with you...it's all about how unlucky you are if u got a defect car...
i believed a lot of satisfied owners out there not voice out their satisfaction here...
*
I second that...

I own the car more than 9 months now... I remember when i was buying this car time there were many others who bought who were actively posting in this forum... but no news after that... guess no news is good news since normally ppl come to forum to post bout problems and seek for some solution/experience for the same problems...

I can testify that my car so far so good, #touch wood#, only got rattling sound on the steering (which other solved changing the lockspring)... and one of my Nexxen tyres had bulging when it was less than 2 months old... but wouldnt be of concern for new buyer since its MC5 tyres now...

There new Low spec cerato 1.6 called KX modelĀ  will launching soon . price rangge around 89-92k .

2 airbag, no Esc , manual air cond , no paddle shifter .

do you think this worth to buy or current cerato ??

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
think many ppl opt to go for Kia because of the safety features... IMO, at that price range, ppl would opt for city V spec instead...

anyway, looking at the comparison of spec, my current 1.6 also doesnt have the items below... is it add on for newer 1.6?
3. Hood insulator - mine doesnt come with insulator
11. Switch Assys Side Crashpad - mine without ESP button ( also, it means that the lower spec has headlamp leveling but the current one dont? )
18. Gear Knob - mine is not leather wrap

can someone list down what other issues this car has? So far i've got this 3 :

1) horrible mileage
2) random noises in the cabin
3) pathetic resale value.

i really like the design of the car, but still looking at the pros and cons.

thanks.
*
seriously i really dunno how you come into conclusion that Cerato has pathetic resale value... i've checked mudah and carlist, didnt find any with pathetic resale value also... even forte resale value is on par with the japs...

mileage not sure why some owner getting so bad... mine avg out 11~12+ km/l... which i think is not bad for a C-segment car...

rattling noise it depends on your luck i guess... mine has some minor ones as well...

whats your mileage now d? the warranty is 5 years or 100k whichever comes first right?
my car less than a year already 25k mileage now cry.gif
so it means if 100k then less than 4 years warranty gone d...

Coatings won't protect against stone chips. Only a PPF will do can do that to a certain extent.
*
Any recommendation where to install PPF?
Is it advisable to first polish/wax before doing PPF?
Since if dont do polish/wax/claying, the dirts be be stick underneath the PPF?
Normally PPF only install at front bumper? how about bonnet and side mirrors?
