Well, I did my research and I ended up with a beautifully equiped Korean car as compared to the high and mighty Japanese cars who are living in their shell. That said, my money was worth it.

By the way, I got three years FOC service with is the SOAP but I got free body kit and mark down of 1888 which is going for me, thats nice.
*
the thing is SA tells a different story every time... whatever research i did also pointless... i do like my car... but getting this kind of treatment makes me feel regretting not stretching my budget for the new Mazda 3 or Ford Focus... both these cars are well equipped as well... and the M3 look good as well... tho i know beauty is quite subjective...

QUOTE(teNtiOn @ Jan 27 2014, 11:16 PM)
there are owners who prefer to drive SKD compared to CKD with touch screen.
*
initially i felt that way too... but driving a SKD feels no difference with the CKD... now my car getting more rattling sound... and everytime i drive, i fear a little for my safety scared that Nexen tyres will go burst like some other owners did... will be changing the tyres... but thats another 2k gone... so 2k + 3 years free service maybe that cost around 3k, plus the touchscreen, so its 5k+ to drive a SKD which makes no difference in quality, which doesnt make sense to me already...

yes, i may be ranting a lot... but just hope that car distributors do more homework on owners sentiments before setting price and spec for their car... good luck to all future car owner...

Most terrible one is driving at penang. All small road and traffic light. Rm50 only manage to drive around 130km.

Highway wise from penang to kl around rm 50 to rm 60

Odo 640km. After 1st service will have better fc?
*
after my first service slightly better... but not much since after service, i rev more during acceleration d...

btw, after past 10k mileage, my car got more rattling sound d... Kia quality no difference from proton i would say cry.gif

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Feb 26 2014, 12:55 PM)
it is not the car. it is the badly maintained roads that causes the premature rattlings. Furthermore, nowadays new cars are launched with large rims and that requires a thinner tire. Thinner tire is bad in absorbing the shocks, jolts and bumps from the uneven roads and as a result the force is channeled to the clips and bits which holds the plastic panels in the car, causing them to loosen over time.
*
nope... the rattling sound already visible 1st week when i get the car... it just got much louder... SC also acknowledged the sound during my first 1000km service... just that she mentioned if open up the dashboard, might get more sounds and new car become like old car...

Also, i drive >70% highway... highways roads are fine... and i always slow down for roads where theres pot holes... slow until the point where i get honk few times already...

but agree with you, bigger rims is also one of the cause... i am just disappointed that a 4 months old 100k SKD car have more rattling noise than my previous 5 years old waja...

@mango27 Can we know what is your average fuel consumption so far?

>70% highway same as my driving profile....
*
my avg consumption is 11.8 - 12.3km/l... this is the actual figure from calculation... for the past 5-6 tanks refill also around this figure... i could say i always drive consistently...
from the dashboard always shown as 7.6 - 7.8/100...

Hi, there are many questions from LY members about the the 4.2" and the 8" HU.  The 8" HU come with build in GPS/ DVD and almost double the size of the 4.2". Here are some photos for those who would like to know the different. There is an additional discount for the Cerato that come with the 4.2" model.
*
any idea what is the price for old owners to upgrade from 4.2' to 8' HU? also i thought SKD units comes with 4.2' HU, so it means that there are still SKD units left? or the SKD and CKD thing is just a gimmick?

Thanks man! smile.gif

I got it from Ace hardware, Midvalley. Last bottle unfortunately, otherwise I would have picked up one more. It's really awesome.

I'm thinking to buy from Meguiars directly. Perhaps if got interested parties, we can bulk buy and perhaps get a discount smile.gif I'm likely to exhaust my bottle today as I plan to apply a 2nd coat hehe
*
i just went Ace hardware, they restocked... got bout 5 bottles when i went...
but im not sure to get the mirror glaze or get the white wax since mine is a white car... any advise on this?

thanks perror... i guess i'll go for mirror glaze then...

just a couple more questions... do you use the meguiar sponge when applying the mirror glaze? i find it rather expensive for the sponge... bout 45 bucks per piece...

also, what product of car wash you use before applying mirror glaze? i have some tough stain and minor scratches at the front bumper... since mirror glaze is a sort of sealant, wouldnt it seal the stain/scratches underneath the layer?

A fairly good and detailed post on the diffrence between sealants (synthetic polymers) and Carnauba wax:

http://www.autopia.org/forum/topic/122218-...olymer-sealant/
Makes me feel like applying a layer of Carnauba wax to fend off all the bird droppings. Also describes pretty well how sealants work.

thanks for the info... haha.. means more money to spend on items...

I received my Cerato 1.6 Glittering Metal on 11 Apr.
The experience is nice, but the sound system seems buggy to me. Usually when you touch the LCD screen the sound will become very soft automatically for you for about 3 sec then it become normal back.
But i encounter several times where when i am driving, the sound keep changing soft and back for several times.
Anyone had the same situation with me?
*
there is a auto volume adjustment according to your speed you are driving... the higher your speed, the louder it will be... this is because normally wind noise will be higher at higher speed... so louder volume to counter the noise... this can be turn off in your setting...

Buydirect, one question... i went to your service centre for 10k service... Service Advisor told me that they used 2 extra oil additive for the 10k service which wasnt used in 1k service... May i know exactly what additive are those?

i found out the FC raised after adding the additive... from 1k to 10k mileage, the way i drive and my routes, i always get 11.5km/l to 12.3km/l... but after the 10k service, im getting only <10.3km/l for the past 5 full tanks... also there were once reversing the car uphill, the engine almost died...

ok, thx alot. Is the treble clear enough? my prev vehicle is perodua myvi n alza, both car need to install tweeter in order to listen songs to properly.
*
if you comparing audio from myvi/alza, then you wont be disappointed... p2 has one of the worst sound system ever... my house got alza, myvi and cerato...

cerato audio is fine, but not great... if not mistaken, Forte have the infinity speakers... then they downgrade in Cerato...

Sorry for late reply. I have checked with my SC. The 2 additives are
1) Fuel Injection Cleaner - which is meant to clear the injector nozzel and to rid moisture/water
2) Oil Treatment - to smoothen the engine against wear and tear.

My SC advice is that if you find the FC indicator is showing high reading than previously, perhaps you can come back to have it scanned and reset for further monitoring. The additives should not cause your FC to go up. Thanks
*
hmmm... im not relying on the FC indicator as i know its not that accurate... im calculating based on each full tank and its mileage...

is these additive part of the authorized kia service package or is it just an add on?

QUOTE(szebing7 @ May 5 2014, 08:12 PM)
Hi i am looking for a c segment car and Im quite interested in the Kia Cerato. I m quite well informed of the benefits in terms of value for money and its wonderful technology but I would like to know honestly about a few other things from long time owners on a few things:
1. cabin noise: Ive read that it has one of the best insulation but ive also read that it isnt so good. I dont expect it to be as good as like continental cars but what do u guys think about it.
2. any significant rattling etc: I am always irked bout this haha, i know any car will have rattling or sound but is it very frequent compared to other cars in the segment? Or the same? I drive in quite bumpy roads at times so perhaps thats a factor as well
AFter its been out for nearly a year, any one has any significant problems with the car? I m not a car enthusiast so my questions may sound noob. Its really a nice car and im grateful for ur help. Thanks for helping.
*
i dont think theres any owner here more than a year... Cerato was launched in July 2013...

i've owned more than 6 months now... i would say cabin noise insulation is one of the best in class... i am too very sensitive to noise and rattling sound... since cabin is quite, i can hear rattling sound from my steering since day 1... its quite minor it bothers me but not my gf when she drives... SC has identified the sound but still not fixed after few attempts... hopefully it will be fixed in the near future... other than that, its a great car for that price tag...

QUOTE(Zurusan @ May 6 2014, 02:38 PM)
Thanks! To be honest, surprisingly, I drove Kuantan-JB like normal, between 90-110km/h. I was told by the salesperson that the Cerato doesn't require break in period (I should have done some research on this. arrgghh..).  mad.gif FC figure for the journey was 8.5l/100km.

Hopefully, nothing will affect my car. Just sent the car yesterday for the 1st service (1000km) and no problem detected (hopefully in future too).  cry.gif

Anyway, I looked over the manual briefly and there's nowhere mention on the break in period. Where can I find the "break in" procedure for the specific car, Cerato (or Forte for others)? I heard some cars don't require such period.
*
the manual actually did mentioned the break in period... in page 5... things like "do not rev more than 3k rpm", "do not let engine idle more than 3 minutes", "avoid keeping at a single speed (cruise control)" etc... all the normal break-in advise you can find from the net...
