besides tw rom, which rom is recommended if i still wan to use my s pen?

or are there any awesome must have roms you recommend, but will using these custom roms decrease my battery life?
*
Non-TW ROMs still allow you to use the S-pen, you just don't get the S-Note and S-memo.

That is why I recommend you do not use S-Note to maintain independence from Samsung in case you get a non-Samsung device next time.

Several note taking apps that allow writing are available but most of them are paid, but usually around RM15 or so.

From Soyacincau earlier today

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note II gets massive price cuts
http://www.soyacincau.com/2013/06/19/samsu...ive-price-cuts/

The barely 2 months old Samsung Galaxy S4 non-LTE version (9500) has gotten a massive price cut of RM349. Launched at RM2,199 with 16GB storage, the Samsung flagship device is now priced as low as RM1,850 outright for official Samsung Malaysia units. The 5.5″ Galaxy Note II is even affordable now at only RM1,680, making it quite an attractive buy.

Retailer IMCC has released its current Samsung Galaxy pricing as follows:

Samsung Galaxy S4 – RM1,850 (Previously RM2,199)
Samsung Galaxy Note II – RM1,680 (Previously RM1,999)
Samsung Galaxy S III – RM1,380 (Previously RM1,699)
Samsung Galaxy Grand – RM1,040 (Previously RM1,299)

For a flagship device to drop this much in such a little time is rather shocking. Another retailer IPMart has also dropped its Galaxy S4 pricing as well to as low as RM1,869.

In the mean time the recently rolled out Galaxy S4 4G LTE version (9505) with 32GB of storage is seen to be slashed as well to RM2,299 from its initial RM2,499 pricing. Thanks @abdulmj for the heads up.

Could this be an indication that more Galaxy models are coming to Malaysia? We won’t be surprise considering the Galaxy Mega, Galaxy S4 Active and Galaxy S4 Zoom are expected to make a local debut soon. Perhaps the rugged Galaxy S4 Active would be priced between the S4 non-LTE and 4G LTE version. With a water resistant credentials and LTE support, that might just demand a slight premium over the standard non-LTE S4.

For those waiting for the Galaxy S4 and without the need of LTE, the RM349 savings definitely certainly worth the wait.

====================

Some comments speculate that Note 3 is coming soon ??? I hope it does hehehehehe

i hope no... I bought this note 2 like just 6months ago... It will be a massive blood vomit out from me if note 3 coming soon... tongue.gif

I know, but this is a good year for choice of high performance devices. tongue.gif

Assuming they announce it tomorrow at the London event, it will take 4-6weeks to ship, which puts it at end July to early Aug. Probably good for Raya gifting LOL.

If they don't announce it tomorrow, then It's Sep/Oct.

Looking at recent market moves, this year Samsung no longer has the upper hand, they'll have to do something ..... if they don't then Sony and HTC will get the jump on them.

I wrote earlier in the last thread, Sony, Asus and HTC are gunning for the Note market and Asus has announced their entry. Sony will announce next week. HTC should be shortly after.

Frankly, the S800 should come with 3Gb RAM. That will be a killer device that can last many custom ROM generations.

not only that... we can probably expect a glut and also ALL (not just Samsung) smartphone prices to start dropping... i see that happening towards end of the year... can't wait to get a newly launched flagship below rm2k. maybe even rm1.6k?!?
*
hmm.gif 1.8 will still be extremely reasonable.

I recall most of the analyst estimates of BOM cost were around USD180-280 for most devices, so a price crash like what happened to the PC market may be feasible.

Compass, no use of it yet. I don't need to find North tongue.gif and only went into the jungle once last year.

No mention of storage size, and it seems no sdcard, and fixed battery.

I can live with fixed battery but need the sdcard. Not forgetting all the S-on S-off and locked bootloader nonsense. Same goes for Sony.

16gb built in with microsd slot, and 3200mah batt, at least that kind of batt size is good enough that a removable batt is not needed(at least for me la) at least we can see HTC really listening what the majority of customers want smile.gif

and us XDA fanatics are definitely not the majority tongue.gif

I'm pretty sure now the One Max won't come with a tiny 3000mah batt as rumored, so its up for consideration again. Will need to really go thru the functions I use a lot on the note 2 and compare it with what sense 5 offers, to make sure ill actually be upgrading and not downgrading in terms of features. SNOte is giving me headache now zzz. Might transfer to evernote and see how it goes since theres an import to evernote function.

I'm really hoping all of these new devices are pressuring samsung to try and do something about the outlook and feel of the phone, though its not super important for me, but it would be really awesome to have a note 3 with stereo speakers for netflix, prime and hulu.
*
Ever since I found out that S-note was platform locked, I stopped using it.
Using HandyNote, I found that the Evernote export is just a static image mad.gif
The dropbox integration is better in that it stores the native HNF file so is far more portable this way.

Well, I seriously find the HTC One Sense has some lacking stuff if you're coming from TW. I was completely surprised to read that they have no multiple toggle equivalent and some very basic functionality of settings access is missing from the H1 ROM. WTF.

And they have to wait for 4.2.2 to get that????

And their 4.2.2 update just got canned today it seems. So......

BTW

Who cares about thin? Give me a smartphone with some meat on its bones!
By Joe Levi | June 12, 2013 5:18 PM
http://pocketnow.com/2013/06/12/who-cares-about-thin

It should come as no surprise, smartphones are getting thinner. Just when you thought they couldn’t get any skinnier, manufacturers will shave a millimeter or two off their next device, just so they can claim the title of having the “thinnest phone on the market” — even if they don’t. Some manufacturers make their claims when measuring the thinnest part of the phone, but conveniently leave out the fact that the “camera hump” doubles or even triples the thickness. That doesn’t count, does it?

Thin phones don’t feel good

I’m through with it! Thin phones seem more fragile than “thicker” models. They’re not as easy to carry, they’re not as durable when you stick them in a pocket. They have more flex to them.

Pick up a phone that touts its “thinness” as a feature, then pick up another phone that didn’t put millimeters before user experience. Which one feels better in your hand? It’s a very personal opinion, for sure, but in my experience, the thinner phones feel awkward, even clumsy. Thicker phones fill your hand. They give them impression that they’re designed for you, rather than designed for a line on a spec-sheet.
Thin phones feel cheap

Thin is usually synonymous with light-weight. “Quality” usually comes with some level of “heaft” to it. A lawnmower that’s lightweight, for example, is probably made mostly out of plastic, has a low-power engine, and probably isn’t going to last as long as one that’s made of metal, and has a larger, more power engine, and is more durable. As a consumer, you don’t have to know why one lawnmower is lighter than the other, you just know by the feel that one is cheaper than the other (notice I said “cheaper” rather than “less expensive”). The analogy doesn’t translate 1:1 to smartphones, but the feeling of quality does.
Thin phones make sacrifices

I’m an advocate of lightening one’s load. No one wants to lug around a heavy beast of a device all day, every day, right? Ounces turn into pounds, and pounds turn into pain. I get that. But there comes a point when something is too light. My Nexus 4, for example, is a great phone — as long as I say close to a charger. Most of the time I do. When I’m on the road or attending a training session or City Council Meeting, my battery just isn’t enough to get me through. When I think I’ll need extra juice, I carry around a battery that I can plug into my phone to give me the extra power I need when I need it. These are of vital importance if you play Ingress, by the way.

Saving a few millimeters in thickness typically means going with a smaller battery inside the phone. Going with a smaller battery means it doesn’t last as long as it could have if that sacrifice hadn’t been made (a good example here is the Motorola RAZR versus the RAZR MAXX). Those few millimeters of thickness means I’ve got to carry around a big, bulky battery and USB cable whenever I think I might need more juice.
Who cares about thin?

I don’t know if I’m alone in my thoughts, but I think I’ve made some fairly compelling arguments why “thin” for the sake of being thin may not be in your best interests. Not long ago, Michael Fisher asked “When is a smartphone too thin?” and makes some of the same conclusions that I have.

Personally, I don’t want a “skinny phone”! Give me a phone with some meat on its bones!

Of course I want to hear from you, too! Am I alone in thinking too much emphasis is being placed on “thinness”? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments!

I didn't comment but I wholeheartedly agree as well.

Will you become a mirror? Or perform this on an ad-hoc basis? I can add this to post 7, but it will help if we understand how you will manage this.

Ie will you post a few of the latest ROMs till the next version, or per-request etc?
