I'm rooting for the Note 3, but the XZU is very compelling ...... however I saw that the waterproofing was from using long flaps .... THAT is prone to getting loose. And the XZ threads say Sony service centers are ready to replace those tiny tiny pieces of silicone at RM35 apiece ... whistling.gif which means that flap failure is a known occurrence.

Which means that the IP57 or whatever rating can still be lost due to user carelessness. Some guy went for a few laps with the S4 Active and also managed to get it waterlogged.

Bottom line ... water and electronics NEVER mix whatever the marketingbots tell you. Except for heavy duty undersea electronics.

Please read post 6 until you understand what you are trying to do. Otherwise you will be a case of PEBKAC.

After you have understood, read posts 7 and 8 for the tools and advanced stuff. CM ROMs need CM Kernels, TW ROMs need TW kernels. Recovery can be anything but we recommend TWRP.

Cynogenmod team's statement about support for Exynos based devices:

https://plus.google.com/u/0/117962666888533...sts/2a8SiSZpxPn

Status Update: Exynos

Following through on our promised status reports, today’s will encompass the Exynos platform, specifically Exynos 4.

To get ahead of any misunderstanding, we will start by saying we are not dropping support of the Exynos 4 devices.

That said, to those keeping an eye out for a CM 10.1 general release for Exynos 4 devices, there won’t be one. Supporting this family of devices beyond CM 9.1 (ICS) has proven difficult to accomplish, with various issues surfacing from the binaries and sources we have to work with.

However, we are not going to be giving up on this platform, especially given that the i9100 and i9300 are in the top 3 of our user base (according to stats.cyanogenmod.org); we know many of you are counting on us for support. Our maintainers thus far have done an admirable job getting these devices to work well in their current nightly form. There are still plenty of issues left to be resolved, and they aren't the type of issues that will be solved in days or weeks. It is because of those issues that a general release has been withheld.

Until such time that the remaining issues can be nailed down, the Exynos 4 devices will remain as ‘nightly only’ status. You will continue to receive the latest bug fixes, security fixes and features, but given the incomplete nature of the the platform, bug reports will not be accepted.

A specific list of Exynos 4 devices that are receiving nightlies are:
Exynos 4210 - i9100, n7000, i777
Exynos 4412 - i9300, n7100, all t0lte variants, n80xx

Any great apps out there that can control when to turn on WiFi and enable sync apart from DSBS, Tasker and Lamma Llama?

I recall there was an app written by the same dev for BetterBatteryStats that does that. Check it out in the play store.

This I think https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?...betterwifionoff

A series of cartoons about purchasing apps: very apt description of how many of us react and behave.

This is how I feel about buying apps

Bro, paid apps don't mean it is just ios. You need to understand the cartoon. Paying for apps are how devs make a living, just like authors make a living from you buying their books.

ZoidbergFry mentioned he is a linux dev with Android knowledge. Maybe can team up as TeamLYNGN2.

Based on what he has said, I believe he is familiar with scripting and C or Java. Should come in handy.

Su and all that stuff is built into linux. You just need to issue the commands. It's different in Android, since Terminal, Su and all these are not part of the default package.

Well, admittedly yes it is weird whistling.gif

Ok Zoidbergfry, you are waaaayyyy above me, and I didn't realise why you said you didn't understand although you were an embedded linux guy. Well coz linux has root and SU etc included in every build, whereas Android needs a patch to inject it.

Hoho jakgelap you are correct.

maliiik please use a casing. A REAL CASING that covers the entire back, full bezel and has a lip over the screen. "Cases" that leave the top and bottom bezel exposed are only "back covers". Do not be fooled.

Interesting post about G+ vs FB

https://plus.google.com/u/0/101219490624896...sts/ZSQ2AjfDiJo

One of the comments:
Joseph McClaren
10:27 PM

Facebook is good only for flash games and porn...pretty sad state of affairs considering where it was just a few years back. I joined Facebook back when only college students could join...I brought MANY people to Facebook after it opened it's doors to the masses...It was great (at first) being able to stay connected with long-lost acquaintances and distant family members...Then Mafia Wars, Farmville and the like began taking over and I saw Facebook undergo a change...and it kept changing for several years until it is the monster that it is today.

I'm over it. And I told my family and friends so. Some of them have made the move to G+ along with me, but very few. Not that I care so much anymore. Back when it was cool to be connected to distant family members, I had little idea of what went on in their lives....now I'm so inundated with the info that I have long since stopped caring. It's actually nice that G+ is relatively quiet of what my Great-great nephew's second cousin's daily routine is like. Here at G+ I get to pick what comes up on my screen with much greater ease, and I get to geek out on full-blow techie feeds.

Sorry extended-extended family and friends who I haven't seen in person in over a decade...I much prefer the company of people I don't know anything about except that they like to keep up on technology and other topics that I'm interested in. And Facebook, you can keep your games requests - I make MUCH better use of my time here at G+.

I stop using fb a long time already. But I never use G+ before. Thought it might be another social networking platform.
*
G+ is actually a more generic platform and I think it behaves like Twitter. I would say it's more focused than FB, and since you're already on Gmail, all it takes is an add on confirmation for G+. I find it easier to filter than FB, although I must say I login to my FB only once every 3-6months for some housekeeping of friend requests.
