QUOTE(muctabucta @ Jun 24 2013, 07:54 PM) not particularly sure whats the brand but when I first saw the big squarish rectangle-thingy..i was like "what the fffffffuuuu..."..kinda jealous most of them all got LTE enabled phone tho.. I was there end of march..and yeah..seeing all those cracked screen is the reason why I opt for tempered glass now..lolz..better pay rm120+ than rm600++ for cracked gorilla screen.. Yes, that squarish device is the LG Vu, weird 4:3 1024x768, no competition for the Note 2 Well. SKorea is great....just that they have a crazy neighbour though hahahaha hooh888https://plus.google.com/u/0/115926327659831...sts/gFuQckAxGX7Great insight into IPC on Android. If you are interested in Android internals then this is a a must-have (in case you're not already familiar with Binder) This post has been edited by joytest: Jun 24 2013, 08:08 PM

I think last week edwincodec checked this out and found it wasn't something he would recommend. Check thru some of his posts maybe from v23, near the end.

Some news: PUBLISHED: 09:43 GMT, 24 June 2013 | UPDATED: 10:40 GMT, 24 June 2013 Rotten Apple? iPhone 5 is TWICE as slow as Android rivals, claims watchdog Geekbench tests reveal Samsung Galaxy S4 to be the fastest smartphone Apple iPhone was shown to be bottom for processing and memory speed Technical tests showed that bigger processors do not always mean better speeds http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/art...oid-rivals.html================= Some tabloid reporting, however there is no link to what these "technical tests" may be, and obviously the writing style is meant for Joe Public. Good to show the less technically inclined.

QUOTE(AmmoShaf @ Jun 24 2013, 09:59 PM) I am sticking with the note 2 after a long long time thinking. Major reason for staying with note 2 : 1. Got my UAG scout from US after 1 month time waiting. Super happy with how it looks, so stylish, manly look. 100 percent worth my time n money. 2. Many concerns about battery life difference between this 2 phone. Hopefully I made the right decision. Just need to get used to the size though. Well, surprise, but welcome back again. It's a choice plenty have made and have been happy with. The point with having used a device like the Note 2 is a great difficulty with reverting to smaller handsets Our guru uncle benny has now gone up and up with 6.0, 6.1 and 6.3 inch devices. Nonetheless do enjoy your Note 2 and share your contributions.

QUOTE(PainHacker @ Jun 24 2013, 10:12 PM) err what =.= it is not about performance actualy . It's like comparing vista and xp. Of course xp gonna be better. I somehow really pelik why android phone got high performance still got lag whereas iphone just using 1gb ram and lower Ghz but smooth. I really wonder how iOS able to do that, if android can find their trick, im sure more people migrate to android people. Not a fanboy and not an iphone users but as a promoter in mobile shop I like playing with many different type of phone. Some articles published quite a while back described the design philosophy between ios and android. Android was made from the point of a computer first, with the UI probably following Unix architecture so you can put whatever launcher you want like an X Desktop, and UI optimization was left to the respective launcher architecture. ios design philosophy was to make the screen redraw as the most important OS priority with fixed bitmaps, that is why multitasking is not well implemented there, and there are no widgets. Now with the layered design ios7, I would think that there is a future for widgets, but it will not come until they are able to force the same draw priority smoothness on the OS level. Of course, life is fair, and focus on one thing will come at the expense of something else.

QUOTE(AmmoShaf @ Jun 24 2013, 10:43 PM) Googled XZU because never heard of it, find nothing. All 3 is yours? What is XZU actually? Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z. No, XZU is NOT launched yet. Expected either this week or next for the announcment. It remains to be seen what kind of stylus and stylus technology they will use. BTW, post 5 under Reported Issues has an article that talks about lag....and it's not the end of the world.

QUOTE(muctabucta @ Jun 24 2013, 11:00 PM) wow ..that is a win except now I have to carry around a pencil instead of an attached digitizer..not too sure on the practicality tho.. Win in the sense you don't need spare hardware. However, carrying a pencil is a little tough hahahaa. The real problem IMHO is the carbon dust that inevitably comes off the pencil point. I used to repair printers waaaaayyyy back and that's where I learned that paper dust can clog gears and so forth. So now you will have CONDUCTIVE carbon dust to deal with. Unless you buy RM39.99 for a 6-pack of Sony branded non conductive pencils that will last you 1 week per pencil.

QUOTE(benny888 @ Jun 24 2013, 11:13 PM) Looks like my ex windows mobile stylus n a few of my old ballpoint pen ( inkless) will probably be useful in this XZU. Glad I still keep these old stuffs I suspect not, coz those items work with resistive screen technology and were non-conductive. This is some kind of hybrid tech which I have not yet read any news on. However, close inspection of the pic indicates that you need to overlay a piece of paper over the screen and use your pencil....... I don't know how it will be, perhaps we will find out tomorrow night.

So Wacom on Note family still mops the floor with the competition... We'll find out soon enough tomorrow when they announce, and they will provide some kind of blurb on their digitizer technology.

I'm not sure if removing your account will help. It should stop the app updates, but at least you will have no exposure with the account.

cradle0fFilth your battery life added to post 11 QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jun 25 2013, 03:42 AM) With the crime rates on the rise I usually feel discouraged to carry a handbag out on the streets. Either I hold it in my palm or I slot it all the way down my pockets leaving half of my Note 2 sticking out of my pocket while sacrificing my mobility (I can't crouch nor bend or else I might bend it) Sometimes we do need a smaller phone. Crime ? In SG ? QUOTE(AmmoShaf @ Jun 25 2013, 08:44 AM) I feel so weird walking with note 2 in my pocket. I wear jeans and tight slack most of the time, so whenever I want to bend and tie up my shoes, need to take out the phone first. This happen when I want to drive also. I like to set my phone to vibrate mode, when I drive, I put my phone at the next seat, and I would start to worry if there are any messages or calls since I can't feel the vibration. Keep looking at the phone while driving. But then maybe after some time, I'll get used to it. Since you are in MY, crime IS a problem.... many reports of smashed passenger windows to grab women's handbags on the passenger seat. I would suggest you use one of those dashboard mounts where you can clip the phone on like a GPS unit.

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jun 25 2013, 10:30 AM) Think back, when working outside from office, we are connected to VPN, I always connect to SG server as it is the nearest to KL. Since company has setup different VPN's locations for us, probably I could try connecting to company's VPN and use it to login to FB before I pay for other private VPN service. FB is a subversive influence! !!! Otherwise why would the great restrictive nation restrict it

Since the topic du jour is VPNs and it CAN be incredibly useful in some circumstances, I have made a new VPN section and listed all the contributions from today. I didn't know we have so many VPN-knowledgeable users well I haven't had much reason to use it so far. | 08 | 2013-06-25 | Added new section VPNs to Useful Apps | 12 | new:VPNs |
