Gawd.
ZU is love.
I almost got myself a Z. But now... this monster is really awesome!!

Very tempting indeed. But be patient and wait for the reviews. No LED flash, no true active digitizer support... 3000mAh with that screen size and that CPU ...

seems like many of the people here will migrate to the XZU thread soon.

They could. It is tempting, perhaps that is what Sony set out to do.

Mind to share where do you get it?

You could go to any of the digital centers in malls and they should have a number of booths selling a variety of casings and clips. You're in Subang, you can check out the digital center in Sunway Pyramid.

Ok, will look for it at Pyramid tomorrow. Actually, I don't like go to pyramid's digital mall. I felt everything was overprice since many foreigners buying there.

You posted your location before laugh.gif

QUOTE(maxmeon @ Jun 25 2013, 09:19 PM)
guys, i have a very rough day about a note 2 i bought today.. hope anyone can give me guidance or offer me a service to resurrect my note 2..

today about 8am me and a forumer meet at salak selatan to cod for a note 2.. im the buyer. we have a deal last night and cod in the morning. when cod i expect everything to be nice and i want a smooth deal because its early in the morning and everyone got other things to do so i check the phone appearance and firmware version only. everything seems nice till i get home to test the phone and put a simcard. i got no network so i decide to check for simcard by trying on other phones.. sim working. i put back on the phone still not network and such.. i do a few reboot and factory resets but still no go. i google for answers maybe it just some bug or setting is not right.. but i couldnt find anything till  i read about imei number.

so i check the imei number of this phone, its wierd and i search for that imei in the web it turns out to be something wrong with the EFS file? i did some reading and i found that this is due to flashing roms without backup the EFS partition. i check the phone thoroughly and i found superuser  app which mean the device is rooted right? i didnt notice this earlier. i try to update the phone but cant because the firmware status is modified. then i ask the seller bout this phone cant connect to network but he said yesterday he still use it fine. i tried to find some solution in the web, xda forum mostly but its very hard and need the backup of the EFS partition.

004999010640000 is the current imei and i look under the battery, the original imei is very different, everybody post in the web about the exact imei i got now. its a bad imei. so i decide to go for a refund, i kindly ask the seller for a refund coz i really need the money coz i urgently need to use a smartphone. but he didnt reply, i keep asking for refund i even lowered the price so i could just use the money to buy other phone but still he didnt want. i know its also my fault not checking the phone thoroughly upon purchasing because before this, every deal i made went smooth.

so guy, what can i really do about this phone? do anyone here know how to repair the imei to original one? does anyone here provide such service? i spent almost a day in front of my PC looking for this matter but still no go. hope someone kind enough willing to help me out. tq

Sad to hear of your story.

What is the firmware model now? This will help to narrow some possible answers.

Some have said that the EFS folder is in some other folder which I can't recall, but probably stated in the XDA threads.

Is it an SME set?

I have read too many things so cannot remember exactly where you can find the details, but if you install a root explorer you may be able to find the EFS file to reflash your IMEI.

Otherwise, you can follow the steps in post 7 to unroot your device to send to the service center.

Anyway, the worst is you go to the Samsung Service Center and have them reflash your IMEi/EFS.

noobi3 can you confirm that SC can perform EFS reflash? I think you said less than RM50?

4)Reboot your phone(no lockscreen now)
5)Now copy the backed up efs folder back to / (replace all)
6)Reboot and you will have you imei back.

I think for this to succeed you need to FIRST have a backed up EFS right?

So now they have selectable date and hourly updates.

Wow samsung just got trolled so badly by the Xperia Z ultra.

Its not looking good for note 3. Makes my note 2 looks crap.

Hope they make a good come back
*
I know. But to think that the XZU squarely targetted Note 2 and Note 3 to top Samsung. Yes, Samsung had better do something good.

I'm intrigued by the screen technology that does not require an active digitizer. I wonder if it's a Sony inhouse technology.

After spending an hour wiping data, /cache, /dalvikcache, /sdcard and flashing Wanamlite v1.3 again, installing all the bloatwares together.

This time round, without restoring anything, spent another hour restoring all my installed apps. My FB, Twitter, Instagram notifications are back. Now I dare not to Greenify nor freeze anything just to retain my Push Notifications.

Despite the clean reset, some wakelocks still persist but as a whole the wakelock issue got worse. Most of them are from Google and Facebook which I don't have before I did the restore.
*
Did you restore by playstore download or TiBu restore? Playstore dowload will give you the latest versions which may have new issues...

Hi guys I have a ap galaxy note 2 and I want to upgrade to dmf2 firmware.
May I know what should I do before flashing it via odin? I heard it will make my phone radio unuseable. Is it true? Thanks in advance. Here's my phone radio details.

If you do not intend to flash custom ROMs, you should not have any issues.

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jun 25 2013, 11:27 PM)
No, nothing... Installed apps and restored purchases 1 by 1 via PlayStore.

Only meddled with sTweaks, ringtone, widget positions and wallpaper.
*
I mean, Playstore gives you the latest versions. Sometimes new bugs get introduced. I remember now you were saying all of a sudden you had wakelocks. Such is the nature of software.

So I can just flash the dmf2 ROM using the normal method via odin?
No need to backup efs or something?
*
You cannot backup EFS without a custom Recovery. If you do not have this, then you cannot backup EFS. Flashing via PC Odin should be fine unless you have a bad download.

If you have a custom recovery and only wish to flash rooted stock, you should also be fine.

I see, i'm usually on the latest version for every apps as long there's an prompt for me to update them.
*
I usually wait 2-4 weeks before updating, and only after I've read a few pages of the app reviews on the download page.

A good principle is "If it ain't broke don't fix it", especially for software.

Hi guys, new note 2 user here.. i just got my N2 last month and only dare to root and install custom rom yesterday. I chose paranoid AOSP coz i like vanila theme.

The thing i dun understand is why my kernel show unavailable? i used neak kernal. is it will harm my phone? i mean the unavailable status? and the EFS things, i already backup and then do i need to restore back to my phone after i flashed?

Btw will sun global battery 3600mah will do the wonder on this N2? or just stick to stock battery.

smile.gif
*
Hi welcome.I think one or 2 kernels will show as "Unavailable". The EFS restore is only in case your IMEI shows Unknown.

Read post 8 on Custom ROM tweaks and see if you can get sufficiently good battery life.

Since today all eyes are on the XZU, and I am very curious how the stylus tech works:

http://www.androidauthority.com/sony-xperi...-stylus-235062/

Very impressive. It seems to work on anything. However the next question will be will CM/AOSP ROMs be able to support this.....

This will be a major contender to the Note 3. If Samsung has cast its dice, then they need to come back next year, maybe they will launch both Note 4 and S5 together to overcome this year's competition.

If Samsung loses this year's round of the phablet race to Sony, they will need to fight back. S4 lost momentum to both Sony XZ and HTC1. Choice is good, but one thing about Sony is they are very much like crapple, so I am not certain how they have implemented lock in until the full reviews and user comments are out.

HTC, they seem to WANT to become like crapple as well.

Anyway this is a good year for choice in top range models. I still think that you will need to deal with ink smears and carbon dust on the XZU, and accidental loose flaps.

I can put my 7" mediapad in my work pants, and my jeans have large pockets. Sitting is a bit problematic though. But this is overall smaller than any 7" tablet, so it should fit nicely in my pants. Now to figure out how to pocket it with an Otterbox.... laugh.gif
