Lemmie tell you what it is, it's plastic or some glu material from the joints that lock the back cover to the mainboard together. Few weeks back I took out my back cover for the first time to install the 8gb cracial RAM and the mSata for my y500, in the process I'd break one of the joints, what i did was I'd superglued it back and put it under the Sun to dry, Then that white poweder started to appear, then I'd noticed that it was coming out from one of the other joints on the back cover. In your case however I think it's because of your lappie's heat [ mine was sun's heat ] so i don't think it's coming from the companents

Hi, thanks I think that might be it. So it is melted glue and will it be a problem for me in the future? Should I take and it for service? Just bought it less than 2 weeks ago =.= How come nobody else has this problem btw

is it worth to go from gt750m to gt750m SLI?
coz game benchmark
show that it still cannot play fluently some games on ultra.

but will 750m goes smooth with metro:last light on ultra but 720p?

Thanks for the reply. I contacted Lenovo and they say they have never seen such a problem before. The white coating corresponds to 3 streak-lines on the back vent. It is not everywhere as in they fall on 3 predetermined paths. Quite hard to take a photo as the lighting prevents the powder from being seen. The smell apparently is some sort of coating on the electronics. It'll go away after 1 month.

Okay guys.. I REALLY NEED YOUR RESPONSE for this matter! 

I just bought a game called "Remember Me" and I found out that when I played it, only my onboard graphic card is used, whereas my secondary graphic card is idle. In a way, my SLI won't work on this game! 

After some research, I found out that I need an SLI profile for this game, and the profile is provided only on the 320.xx drivers... Currently I'm having 311.27 driver (downloaded from Lenovo website) and there's still no new driver for Geforce GT750M.. 

Someone from this forum told me that they used driver version 320.14 beta and 320.18 (they chose the ones for GT740M) and reported thheir games ran fine. But after doing some research on other forums, some people reported that they have faced black-screen+BSOD after using those drivers..

So now I'm in a conflict. Should I wait for a 320.xx driver for my laptop's graphic card or should I just use the 320.14 beta or 320.18 driver and hope everything goes fine? SIFUs! I'm begging for ur help 

default? 311.27 driver? How can u run it on SLI owh? Mine cannot.. Had to tweak the settings thru Nvidia Control Panel to enable SLI

Oh yeah, there's actually a new driver for GT750M.. just released yesterday.. 320.49 beta... but many ppl complain it causes many problems... especially in metro LL... :/

ur rule is not always correct all the time bro. Even the 320.18 driver WHQL is full of bugs.. 320.49 is said to fix the problem present in 320.18 WHQL driver, but in the end, it made the problem worse... 

I'm not sure if the driver is problematic for gt750m as it's the 1st ever driver for this graphic card...
So far, 90% of the desktop graphic card owners complained the drivers were causing more problem than 320.18 did. BSOD, pc wont start-up, firefox crash, games CTD, games got artifacts/texture problems, graphic card temp suddenly rise to high temps (75C ~ 80C) when idle! 

So far (I've read the driver's official feedback page until page 26/26) there's no one using gt750m reporting in.. only the asus g user with gtx680m sli have reported that the driver's bad..

All in all, it is advisable not to use the driver as of yet... most 320.xx series driver are causing problem.. hopefully on the next batch of drivers (there's already 325.xx series and a planned 326.xx driver.. the 325.xx are available to download thru windows update but ONLY FOR WINDOWS 8.1 USER ) that the drivers are better than the 320.xx series.. the 325.xx series is reported to be working fine.. haven't read if there's a problem related to the driver as of now...

i just installed nvidia 320.49 driver ( weird someone in this forum said it is beta but i didnt found anything stating it is ).

glad that it is actually for 750m unlike previous driver which i have to choose 740m in the drop down menu.

stable for me, and got a very cool feature that it can optimize games from its own nvidia control panel.

maybe it is not a new feature but it is new for me hehe

if everything same why changing model? Y510p use latest 4th gen Haswell processor...
Y500 use 3rd Gen Sandy Bridge Processor..

well, cpu performance is same i think.. coz both y500 and y510 has same processor (if I'm not mistaken)

GPU performance also same... but still up to the driver used... if using default driver, y510p i think going to have a bit better performance since it uses 311.49 driver (not sure whether 311.47/49/48 sorry xD) whereas y500 has 311.27...

anti-glare screen? same oso... my y500 no screen protector, i play with the monitor facing my house's window, still no glare one... still can see things in my desktop clearly.. 

y510p is not about full gaming , its cheap and affordable

GTX 780M , 8500$ or MSI GT70 or ASUS G750JH etc

Y500/510 cooling system is better than MSI gt70? Go google some disassemble picture of both laptop.

Its no comparison. Y500/510's cooling, while decent, are not up to the standard of Asus/MSI/AW etc brand gaming laptop.
