guyssss, any comment on G750 4700MQ+GTX770M.

Powerful enuff??? biggrin.gif

Is it possible to upgrade to SSD and dual channel 8GB RAM 1866MHZ sooonnnn~ wink.gif
*
in terms of gaming, it's fine and nice for the next twelve months. with gpu overclocking you might extend the usage for another a few months smile.gif

be careful of your ram upgrade. you need a 1.35V 1866MHz ram. from what I have read, 1866MHz can only be achieved with overvolting to 1.5V. 8gb (2x4gb) might be fine. however, please test it first.

with a price tag of 3299 AUD, it's hard to believe that it doesn't come with a 3d screen. the store's pdf doesn't show that.

one way to look for hints about the screen is to check out the specs sticker on the box. it should be something 3d. (e.g. Full HD 3D(1920x1080 120Hz) Non-Glare LCD Panel)

it's no wonder there is no jh in malaysia. it's really very low in terms of performance / value ratios :/

Thx for the tips. They give me a discount and selling at 2999 and I could get a tax refund on this. So basically it will cost around 2.7k AUD. Thinking of getting this today but still looking for 3d option.

ah a nice deal to you smile.gif

the information about whether g750jh-t4024h has the 3d screen is really not clear. it's better to ask the sale personnel at that shop.

yeah g750jh is more likely a great laptop after all.

i feel somewhat relieved to know that asus still put in efforts to make their g-series as competitive as possible. (i still think they can do much better than that :/)

referring to this thread:

G46VW-CZ116H RM3720 I7-3630 4GB 1TB NV GT660 2GB 14" WIN 8 EXT DVDRW
G750JX-T4059H RM5200 I7-4700 8GB 1TB NV GT770 3GB 17'3" WIN 8 3D / BLU-RAY

basically the g46 is smaller than g55, with the same specs (cpu, gpu). the g750jx is a newer member of g-series (17.3"). of course the gpu power is much better. in terms of maintenance, I find g55 is much more easier to maintain than a g46 (e.g. battery is hidden inside the laptop; g55's battery is conveniently detachable).

well if you don't mind getting a used g55, you can find some good deals at garage sales.

as for other brands, you might wanna take a look at msi and clevo (http://store.illegear.com/, under illegear branding). honestly, for gaming purposes, I suggest you get a 17.3". it is much spacious (good for cooling).

Asus G750 -JX come with steelseries headphone siberia ROG version?

i think it's best to ask the sales man of the shop you get it from. not sure if the local model has the headphone.

oh.. then i think these should be included in all of them; because they are of the same SKU number (there is only one type of local units here)

there is a service center at lowyat plaza, top floor. I think you should be able to ask for thermal paste replacement. you can bring your own paste if you want. maybe you should also ask if the triangle rubber replaced.

just bring your laptop in. they need the laptop serial number.

haha..but for me..build desktop need more money to invest..unlike desktop replacement gaming laptop..they already coming with good spec without u need to worry whether it can perform better or not..
*
if you are talking about investments, desktops, like @holloway put it, are always more powerful, maintainable, and flexible, but cheaper, than laptops.

the keyword between desktops and laptops is portability; but portability is expensive.

And never forget that when you buy a gaming laptop, you are paying for a screen, keyboard, hardware like CPU, GPU and RAM and also a backup UPS while a desktop is mostly just a CPU tower and maybe a keyboard or mouse at most people have a monitor lying around.

That battery on my G73JH saved my butt a few times when i use it for work. Play less games now and that gaming laptop is still fine for work too. Other than the Seagate Momentus XT is failing and the temps are getting to the uncomfortable level.

I am still considering to get either another gaming laptop to replace G73JH + iPad Mini (6k + 1k+) or a desktop + Surface Pro 2 with Power Cover(2k+ and 4k+).
*
once you're used to ram disk, you will think of ups for desktops smile.gif

Hello fellow ASUS Notebook fans & users.
I'm currently using Asus G51VX notebook series & thinking of upgrading my ram + HDD. Can you please recommend what specs to look for to get maximum performance?

1) RAM - Is 8GB enough? What is the specs / model number?
2) SSD HDD - What models are compatible with this series?

Appreciate your expert advise. Thank you.
*
hi, i suggest you check for the parts first. for ram, it's ok to go to 8gb, provided the laptop supports it. you can use hwinfo to check it out the parts first.

for ssd, it will speed things up. still you need to make sure the laptop can support it (the best sata version is still sata 3; sata 2 is half of its output). usually the ssd in the market supports sata 3, and backward compatible to sata 2.

Yes, i play tonnes of games.

May i know on what grounds I need to go up till 680 GTX with i7?

I think 660Ti with i5 is more than enough.
*
this is a good point. even normal laptops today are so good for just common usage. and desktop i5 is really fine enough for most people.
