QUOTE(jayjay11 @ Oct 15 2013, 12:14 AM) Camera is one thing (if you have a decent phone camera, u can still get great shots except in moderate to extremely low light conditions), but lighting is the most crucial factor. My photos aren't completely original, i did some slight editing, but it;s still close to the original photo (i dont like editing heavily, just some slight adjustments). Look at what i did to metatron below when it comes to lighting. Lights (well, they are switched off in this photo though) from the left, right, and even behind. ![]() This post has been edited by EXkurogane: Oct 15 2013, 01:08 AM |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 16 2013, 11:17 PM) If the final product is not much different from this prototype, it might have been the best figure Koto has ever made thus far. I havent seen them doing so well in details before. koto is making some really nice figures recently, and this jaw-dropping olivia might be the one that put them at par with Alter and GSC....(and probably surpass them...)![]() This post has been edited by zito9: Oct 16 2013, 11:32 PM |

Alter's details to me also doesnt match Max factory and GSC's higher tier figures - it's their quality control which is best in class. You wont find any paint chips, scratches, obvious seam lines, etc. The problem with Alter, they are quite inactive this year, not many figures, and their scope of characters is very narrow, keep making figures from the same few series and kissing Nanoha's butt... Best exmaple would be Alter VS GSC's Sabers. GSC's version had more detail, and alter's tendency to stick to anime look meant detail loss. GSC and Max have the tendency to base their figures off artworks if available, which in turn retains more detail.![]() |

QUOTE(zito9 @ Oct 16 2013, 11:44 PM) Koto is inconsistent - must have been dependent on the sculptor. Their Tony artwork Shining series girls, sculpt was really good but let down by occasional QC control in paintjob. Their 1/7 Kousaka Kirino swimwear, and 1/8 Takamura Yui Enishi equipment was also good. But some other figures looked average at best. The sculptor who did Olivia, i should really pay attention to his figures. I hope Koto gets it right with QC for Olivia, im pretty much sold, i dunno anything about her but i think im ordering one. |

Agree, I find that after collecting 10+ figures or so (that's all I've got till now), MF and GSCs colours are the best. More shading and more details. And I regret straying off to PLUM, FREEing, Alphamax or so although I quite love PLUM's Yoshino. I'll stick to MF, GSC, Alter and Koto in the future. Getting MF's Kirino although she costs a bomb. |

All i have to say for some of these other companies:Alpha Max > suck on their Skytube figures. It's worth it. FREEing & Gift - only their giant 1/4 figures (im waiting for Sena/Niku). PLUM is inconsistent, some of their figures had QC issues while some was pretty good. But they are also quite a new company. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 16 2013, 11:55 PM) All i have to say for some of these other companies: I'm not into ero figures lol. I just buy whatever figure which has nice details and good colouring. Don't want to risk things anymore, stick to Alter, GSC, MF and Koto to be safe. And frankly I'm broke now after purchasing a pair of earphones which cost me around 1.5k Alpha Max > suck on their Skytube figures. It's worth it.
