There is a risk but some people do get away with it if they order themselves. If you go through a hobby store to order, probably more expensive because they stock in their stuff in bulk, and all of the stuff gets taxed together. I bought sme textbooks form amazon USA a week ago, over rm 700, customs opened my parcel to check the contents but didnt tax it - but that's probably because either they dunno about the value of the university books, or books are exempted from taxes.

Think there is a chance a DD in excess of RM2000 might slip through...? Kastam guys are basically getting paid to make our lives miserable, after all...

Haha for books or published stuff, they are more concerned with the content rather than the value. That's why if you declared your parcel as books, almost 100% sure they will open your parcel to check. And that's why also books that have very ecchi/hentai/ero content rarely escape confiscation or having pages torn from the book

My friend in Sarawak and Penang did get taxed when they ordered their DD. But then again, kastam at those 2 states are way stricter than KL hahah
