Wah... you guys post too fast, one day log in once also find it hard to answer.

I would rather say JBL's amps ain't really rated SQ or what, at least, not very known to have SQ inclined JBL amps. current generation Alpines tend to sound a bit less smooth to me, maybe doing what the amps really do, amplifying and not leaving any sonic signature to the music reproduced.

You don't really have to match the RMS of the speaker to the amp closely(meaning if your speakers are rated 70Wrms, you don't necessarily need to get an exactly 70Wrms/channel amp to power it, you can go beyond it, feeding it with probably a 100Wrms or more amplifier), the reason is simple, we are listening to music, the power fluctuates along wif the music, hence, even though our amps are said to be producing 100Wrms, it's measured using a sine wave most probably, hence causing a constant reading, with normal music, i would rather say we usually are using only 50W at most(that also when the bass hits really hard and low)

The crossover is much bigger than normal is plainly because it can be customised to your install needs, and not the regular type of crossover which is of fixed value, and no, it's not impractical in my opinion.

the space maybe is for the changing of components for the passives
although it's big ...and da... heat dispense? laugh.gif
but it's the 1 and only passives i've used thru out my ICE experience
definitely a good passive

but.. regarding the size..what's the problem?

What driftmeister said is true, being big, it's about heat dissipation. I dunno why, but i somehow think there's quite some sarcasm around. whistling.gif

It would be funny if you said that passives don't heat up under use, you may ask around or maybe check all the major manufacturers, they will HAVE all the necessary ventilation on their passives, if it doesn't heat up, why bother with that? Moreover, passives DO heat up that's part of physics, energy transfer, not a surprise that they do heat up.

Moreover, i think terencetoo is talking about budget below RM1000, and the Seas Lotus is DEFINITELY above that budget range, i guess, sarcasm is still around in here.

Wah, so hot hot hot... Anyway... Grexer, cool down la...

Terence,

You cant go wrong with the 177R. IMHO, the 177R passive is not big compared to those current and older gen F1 passive... Those are huge mama. I have two of those behind the rear seats. Best if you go bi-amping.
