I'm wondering which one has better chances of getting an interview. Resume through email or normal mail and if you are an employer which one you prefer?
Email or snail mail.

I reckon e-mail is the better choice nowadays.

it is too subjective
therefore i would say it depends. Read what is stated on the advertisement. If it isnt stated there then trust your judgement based on what you are applying for. A snail mail would somehow seem official compared with an email. In light of today's development, I find sending resume via email to be a norm for most IT firms. |

I'm thinking of not how to send your resume but rather how to get the employer attention. If theres hundred people applying for a job , wouldn't the employer pay a bit more attention to a resume send by mail than email coz most people would send by email.

Depends depends depends.
Depends on situation, depends on luck, depends on HR/employer. Argh well, they do it two ways as to make your life easier, so why bother to make your life tougher? |

True that you might get an idea on the chances but what if the reviewer is unique unlike others who might prefer email? It is really up to you. IMPO, Just send it and be confident. If you can't get it then try again elsewhere or the same place when there is another opening. |

Snail mail might be better as they will go through snail mails. Emails on the other hand, some companies don't bother to read them. -.-

QUOTE(aichiban @ May 2 2006, 04:30 PM) Aichiban's suggestion is correct. I seconded that opinion. You have no way to know whether your mail (snail and e-mail) are getting to them. It might be lost. The best way is if you know someone in that company, ask for help from that person to forward your resume to their HR department. It is possible to get reliable e-mail transfer through their internal e-mail system. Mail do get lost regularly. THe best way to get interview is if you know who is the hiring manager and you can be introduce to that person via your social networking. I second dreamer101 regarding the internal contact in the company. It'll be the best way to ensure your resume reaches to right person and department.

Right after I tap the SEND EMAIL button, I start to dial the number.

Then, you can confirm on the phone that they had received your resume. If not, they may not call you back eventhough they did not receive your resume later. Dreamer |

i think being in a modern technology world today email is more in use compared to snail mail...But it really depends whether its a big company or small and how much they have relied on technology in their daily tasks
