Your backyard ground is quite high. And retain by the stone wall.

Do you need piling till the same level as the back of those house? If the footing is just few feet deep, can the stone retain wall sustain the weight and stress from your extension?

Have you consult some expert regarding this? Will the retain wall break/land slide ? 3 feet deep is just inside the retain wall soil. Once load force in, can the retain wall and the soil inside handle it?

Then you should be more worried as you are adding to the stress on the wall.

Kevin86, I m a civil engineer.

Your back extension actually is not safe. If your rubber wall collapse, ur whole structure is failure as well. The correct practice is to excavate until the back line level and your footing sitting on that level.

If for own use, better add few more thousand to do a correct n better sub-structure n superstructure.

All other houses doing the same practice because the owners are layman and they rely on "O Ba" contractor and never get consulted by a practised engineer.

Good luck to u.

I have a same thought here since the footing is quite near to the stone retaining wall..
