i dont need to backup TA partitions if its just root, right?
or its always better to have a backup better than not having at all?

No need to backup the TA partition if you're just rooting. No matter what you do, as long as you don't unlock the bootloader, you will never lose the TA partition.

well cuz i got used to my phillips one, so im just gonna use it still.. once its spoiled then maybe i'll use the sony one lah

just wanna ask, do you have any customization to recommend?
other than changing standard launcher, add widgets, etc (those i know)

I didn't do much on customize, I kind of like Sony stock launcher look.

For customize, you can try Nova launcher or ssLauncher.

one question tho.. have you messed with DPI before? i wanna change it to 240dpi or so :S

cuz on my s2 i got used to 160dpi

but i guess i need root access for that..
