what is the safe temp and normal idle temp using intel stock HSF?
now mine is at 50-55C =.=. juz using origin to dl BF4. zzz

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Oct 28 2013, 12:54 PM) great. if i can't find the 1 i want, i'll juz grab as urs. also, do you need to install any software provided by Asus in their CD? i need to install the LAN driver to get my network working. i think i'll do clean install 2night to prevent driver conflict. (going AIO 240mm give me the headache to find the rad support for my casing as well). oh yea. does the network/dl speed on Hero/Intel Gigabit is better? i ask this coz yesterday i pre-load BF4 and notice that it hits 700kb/s high and stable at 650++ which i never encounter or reach before. (prior stable is 550+ and 600 at max) This post has been edited by sai86: Oct 28 2013, 04:37 PM |

I don't think if there is something special about Intel Gigabit port. Could be the server you are dling at is getting faster or got capped previously.decided to get PH-TC14PE since its much cheaper than D14 n the performance is great too. ^thxs for the explanation.
chged to Pantech and the idle now stands at around 32C. btw at HardwareMonitor, i saw got 5th temp = Package . what is this aside from CPU0 to CPU3? i wonder will temp shave off by few temp if i go for NF-A14 FLX/Noctua NF-A15 PWM to replace the stock fan seems like phanteks stock fan is very good ady. even beat the two i stated. Is the new Linx stressing too much? Because with the older Linx I could do 4.4ghz without throttling. I'll try to reduce the vcore. My cpu ring ratio is at 4ghz.

QUOTE(owikh84 @ Nov 1 2013, 06:37 AM) You have hit the TJmax of 100C and your CPU frequency was throttled down. need you to explain a bit for my understanding.Your OC is not successful, unfortunately. Try to reduce the vCore or CPU speed. why is it considered not successful? wouldn't that be more like not-so-optimal? because he did reach 4.3ghz and looks stable. and why is it you say that it's throttled? |

Yes, the LinX 0.6.5 is A LOT more stressful. You could determine it from the GFlops it generates (200+) vs 130+ with old LinX 0.6.4.QUOTE(goldfries @ Nov 1 2013, 08:20 AM) need you to explain a bit for my understanding. The OC failed because the core temps hit 100C (Tjmax for Haswell) and the BIOS will automatically reduce the CPU frequency to avoid the chip from overheating.why is it considered not successful? wouldn't that be more like not-so-optimal? because he did reach 4.3ghz and looks stable. and why is it you say that it's throttled? Thus, the 4.3GHz OC is not stable. |

and so you determine throttle by LinX Gflops?
interesting. your definition of "not successful OC" is very strict. my definition of fail is can't reach OS and can't run decently stable. i see his, can run 25minutes LinX i would consider successful already. |

sorry ah, not so advanced in OCing so will ask you Q.
from his screenshot, how you see it's throttled? Based on LinX Gflops? |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Nov 1 2013, 05:01 PM) sorry ah, not so advanced in OCing so will ask you Q. The RealTemps shows that the max core temp hit 100C.from his screenshot, how you see it's throttled? Based on LinX Gflops? When CPU thermal protection kicks in, any board also will throttle the CPU frequency to reduce the temp down under 100C. |
