I just know about this... Unlocking your phone does not mean the warranty has been void...

QUOTE(ArmedandDangerous @ May 31 2013, 11:47 PM) No matter where you buy in Malaysia, if it's Brightstar or SiS set then you have 1 year warranty. SenQ can buy extra years of warranty, but those extra years you send to SenQ instead of SiS (all phones eventually end up at SiS for warranty claims). Oh I see, then what about any online registration? I bought mine this morning and I think the seller said there's a online page I would need to fill in or some sort, or that isn't necessary? |

SiS has changed their website, so there's no more warranty registration. I called them also and they say the receipt is your warranty now. The warranty registration still exists by itself, but it's no longer linked to the main website and should not be used.QUOTE(nuttyking91 @ May 31 2013, 11:56 PM) I just know about this... We don't seem to have anyone in MY who is familiar with similar laws in Malaysia to clarify this for us ):http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/...ing-custom.html |

QUOTE(silrave @ Jun 1 2013, 12:13 AM) What? Custom ROMs doesn't mean AOSP or CM. It just means a ROM that has been modified somewhat from stock. Viper ROM has a ton of tweaks and under the hood changes, and I very much consider it a custom ROM. |

I was previously using a rooted S2 so I figured that it might be the same with this HTC One, apparently not, I've been checking out the warranty statement and this is the only rule that might interest us (whether unlocking/rooting void warranty or not la), It's like this: Those only apply to US/UK. We don't seem to have anyone in MY who is familiar with similar laws in Malaysia to clarify this for us ): "THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY IF THE DEFECT WAS CAUSED THROUGH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: g) The defect was caused by the fact that the Product was used with or connected to an accessory not approved or provided by HTC or used in other than its intended use and where it can be shown by HTC that such defect is not the fault of the Product itself. " Based on this statement in the warranty statement, do you think that unlocking bootloader voids warranty? |

By right if they can't they have to honour their warranty. But like most Malaysian companies, nobody knows the law and they do what they like. We can definitely push for it though and show it to them."THIS LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY IF THE DEFECT WAS CAUSED THROUGH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING: g) The defect was caused by the fact that the Product was used with or connected to an accessory not approved or provided by HTC or used in other than its intended use and where it can be shown by HTC that such defect is not the fault of the Product itself. QUOTE(nebousuke @ May 31 2013, 10:59 PM) I sent in mine on 23rd, please call them and push them harder for feedback, I literally gave the person the hairdryer treatment by asking her how does it make sense that there is not even a single bit of status update after I sent in my phone for half a week? It's just DOA claim, either I qualify or not qualify, if not qualify I should get back my set immediately, if qualify tell me when? what is the problem of your phone?? im considering to send my phone to sis due to the gap problem.I didn't want to sound like a nagger but I was really unsatisfied with the silence of status. So after a day, HTC called me and told me I should get a new set approximately by next Tuesday. |
