wahhh sweat.gif few days /1 month?? what brand? last quite long ? what brand? yea i know it'll get dimmer after sometime but if its few days 1 month kinda luck story i think RM35 for a CCFL might as well get a flourescent tube better haha

Most likely whether pricey or not u gotta get it wink.gif

UV CCFL emits UV light which is Purple in color

The other CCFLs comes in an assortment of colors (Blue , Green , Yellow, White etc)

Ya CM has improved the CCFL tremendously. It's very much brighter than the old CM CCFLs. U can c how bright the new type is at my Project Bling It On. Old CM CCFL was nowhere near as bright.

Theres not much heat there also. Besides, you'll want your CCFL to heat up, not cooled. Try blowing an intake fan at part of ur CCFL and see the difference in colour with the parts that are fully heated

yupe, the prinsip behind ccfl is that they must be heated to work. maybe u can read it up on the internet.
most of the problems faced with ccfl is not the tube, but the inverter which keeps getting spoilt doh.gif

you can on it for 24/7 if u got proper cooling on the inverter.

The ccfl itself is not easy to burn, but the inverter

Basically, ccfl are as safe as uv ccfl. many ppl have the impression that uv ccfl will have negative effect just because it's UV.

They debate about it long and windingly here ady:

I think its better you cool out the inverter, even its far away from heat source (CPU, VGA, PSU), IF you are running it 247 wink.gif

i once used vantec uv ccfl..sometime on, sometime i switch off the light..
then the inverter burnt.. sweat.gif
but the stick is ok..

so i bought a new sunbeam uv ccfl, now i got 2 stick of ccfl an a working inverter..using both now..and i let it go on 24/7 (unlike last time i on,off, then on, of again)

so far so good..the lights are working fine..

Basically inverter is to connect ur ccfl tube and some is sound activation which means ur ccfl is bling bling accordingly to sound sensitive...i think market don sell the inverter itself seperately..it comes with whole set

coolermaster
-not as bright as sunbeams
-comes with the sound module
-inverter seems to be more durable than sunbeams
-cheaper

sunbeam
-really bright!!!
-inverter doesnt last as long and tends to burn... thats why now they only sell single tube packs instead of double. i heard they finally admitted that their inverters cant handle dual tubes
-doesnt come with sound module
-expensive

Nope, you place it in the PCI Slot covers, there's somekind of thingie that is to be put at the PCI Slot Covers at the casing, in that thingie, there's a microphone to detect the sound, as there is sound, the CCFL will light up, the higher the pitch, the brighter the CCFL will glow...

thats just for heat to escape......inverters can get quite hot.... so the heat will escape through the holes.

no need to worry too much about it

one is where the air goes in and the other is the air goes out. exhaust have more hole to remove the hot air out faster. the tiny hole for inflow air is to focus the cooling of cool air on one portion of the inverter

will tht CCFL light increase the temperature in the casing?
how do you guys manage the on/off switch? stick it somewhere inside or front panel?

ok, got some info on the CCFL:

Features (CCFL) - Source
High brightness, High-Efficiency, Low power consumption and long life.
Excellent vibration and impact resistance.
Durable and excellent blinking characteristics.
Quick start at low temperature.
Small size and light weight.
Low heating.

There's a CM Red LED fan at the back and a CM Blue LED fan at the front. Both are 12cm, and its a dual tube white CM CCFL, and the casing is CM Centurion 530. Going to try and add a red EL Cable at the back and a blue EL Cable at the front to make the blue & red colours a little brighter. If I find that the EL Cables arent really bright enough, then I'll switch to CCFL, but seeing as I'd most likely stick it to my side window, maybe just EL Cable should be enough la..

Not 2 say it's totally plug n play as u still need connect 3 cables into the inverter but then the whole proces is vry straightforward & no room for any mistakes rclxms.gif

Not sure if there is any SubBeam CCFL around LYP ... I know cooler master one surely got one or two....

can look out from bulk order ....

I think u can use the car CCFL as long as u could modify the connector and it is using 12v as u said it is ...

Inverter burn is a very normal case, smile.gif I retire from CCFL & UV CCFL cause of the burning inverter issue. You can try modding the inverter cover by cutting some holes which are suffcient for enough airflow so that the inverter wont heat up and burn blush.gif That is what i do last time to prevent it from burning, it will still blow but atleast with suffcient airflow it will last longer brows.gif Happy modding tongue.gif

Nice one there Acezzzz.

I wanna share my ccfl setup too.
2 sticks of UVccfl (can see from my IceQ3 glow)
2 white ccfl (not turned on) and
2 sticks of green (bass sensitive, temporarily placed behind lcd)
Gonna change the green ccfl to blue later. The green is too bright and doesn't match my theme.

hi guys,

Just found out a good alternative to CCFL lighting: Led strip
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_p...roducts_id=5589

It is flexible and is as bright as the CCFL, without the bulky inverter.

Now still at work. Will post pic of it lighting my case tonight.

A good alternative to CCFL. No need to worry about overheating inverters and broken tubes.

would have bling it up more if my gf didn't complaint it is too distractingly bling. sigh...

liquid cooling usually couples with uv..
it kinda looks better with uv compared with ccfl
well, it depends on the owner =P

oh, that answers my question, ok thx. btw i went back to lowyat and they returned me my RM39 in full for the ccfl(1 week 1 to 1 exchange). and then there i saw 2 types. 1 is cheaper but the ccfl have less things (less things) in it which doesnt blick, then another is the 1 with higher price and there is a white box in it, that can be seen over the coolermaster paper. this ccfl can blink. eventually in lowyat, all blue,UV and white CM's ccfl got sold out last week. what a pity.. still waiting for it to restock. btw can anyone suggest where else that they sell ccfl in either KL,Ampang,PJ,or Damansara?

BTW, if i go and buy 1 UV CCFL without sound inveter and buy red CCFL with sound inverter, then can i switch them to make my UV available for sound invertion? are the sockets the same?

hahahaha!! very funny!! there is only 3 units left at ALL IT in lowyat at that time. i took 1, 2 more was faulty when i tested them out when i bought that "burnt in 1 day CM's UV CCFL", so i demanded that i change it to another product. i got a UV reactive sleeving set at RM35 btw, but i know its very expensive for that set. xcool sells cheaper and much thicker sleeving kit then the sleeving kit i changed for. i juz bought a A.CC Ryan 20cm UV CCFL from Jetyap this afternoon on a COD in subang. its working perfectly and its much brighter then the CM's 30cm CCFL. the quality is much better then its also lighter, not that hot, got sleeving, and much neater then that CM's junk CCFL. very satisfied with it. rclxm9.gif

Hi, All Cifu,

Just wonder if I want to try to replace a DC adapter to replace the DC to Inverter cable so that I can reduce the number of cable in my casing.

The Red box that I draw in the screen shot below for your reference.

Just wonder where I can get the cable?
