for newbie..start with bitcomet or utorrent.

Back then I was using bitcomet until a problem came out(where i cant browse when bitcomet is launched) then I switched to utorrent. But, from my experience, utorrent speed is slower than bitcomet.Maybe is just me wink.gif

Hi, I'm sort of new to using torrents. If i were seeding, would it eat up my storage space?

Nope, the space is allocated for downloads, not uploads

Sorry if this question is old. Is bit torrent safe? I mean for example, does seeding/uploading compromise your PC security?
What are the proper security measures to take (besides not using bit torrent at all)?

BT is totally safe.
unlike other p2p that allow other user to freely access your disk,
BT only allow access to hashed data on torrent info.DHT and PEX is just assisting on peer discovery on specific file, but will not simply give acess to whole disk/folder content.

actually it is quite safe if you're not downloading anything illegal eg; CP. while we still download lanun movie out there somewhere, you're still safe. your IP can be tracked but its nothing really. unless you mess with the authorities

I was downloading a torrent halfway and I realized that the torrent is for the wrong file. I didn't want that file. I proceeded to stop the download.

Is it okay for me to stop the download, delete the task and all fragments of the files? By doing so, all files will be removed and all processes will be removed too, right?

Also, if I were to backup my files, and the incomplete download is backed up on my external hard drive, I can just delete the file/folder and that's it right?

EDIT : also, I have BitComet on my windows machine too and I also have a download that I have not completed, but stopped because I don't want it.

TMnet (Streamyx) not really torrent-friendly. Also, it depends on the number of seeds connecting to you. No seed connected = extremely slow moving, unless with LOTS of peers having near (~99%) completion...

Sorry, I don't know. Maybe can Google for answers? Or you can sit here and wait till help/advise/suggestion arrives... I'd go for the former.

Streamyx throttles p2p speed so wont be getting much speed when downloading.

Make sure the torrent you download has alot of seeders. Keep track when the speed goes up coz that is when you're torrent seeders are awake or unless the uploader has a seedbox.
