Experts, what will happen if I format /system?

Will I lose everything from my internal SD?

Yea... Sdcard0 folder is in /system as well

I did a format via TWRP and everything was gone. That was using the Advanced option with Format Data.

Someone said a few days ago not to do that but rather use the Factory Reset option + Format Internal SD from the OS itself, then you can wipe cache and dalvik in recovery.

TWRP or CWM flash may have a risk of bricking your device or messing up your IMEI it seems.

Basically flashing anything is prone to lead your device to become an expensive paper weight

I'm not going to flash anything that requires me to wipe my internal SD for the time being. Don't have the time for that.

No u wouldnt . U emptied your system OS , meaning if u fail to flash a zip file , u are left with a empty phone .

Oh ya , if u wanna be safe , use Phil recovery . There's an option where u are asked " if u wanna install a rom " , press yes and it wipes everything for u except internal sd . Even your system is wiped clean .

Those who r using TWRP and r worried selecting the wrong wipe , head over to ARHD thread . He got 2 zip files for download , wipe and super wipe . Wipe is for wiping the system , data , cache etc b4 flashing while Super wipe , well , it wipes everything including internal . Just flash the wipe zip b4 flashing a new rom , no need to use wipe option from TWRP anymore

What I wanted to say was TWRP or CWM wiping* ........

Oh well, the furthest I went was wiping internal memory, never wiped /system even thou the ROM's given instruction says that formating /system is required
