Followings for current EP renewal grace period for min starting 3300 pay criteria:-

1)Passes expiring before 1 Jan 2014 will be given a one-time renewal
of 2-3 years based on current criteria

2)Passes expiring between 1 Jan 2014 to 30 Jun 2014 can be renewed for up to one year.

3)Those expiring 30 June 2014 onwards, all EP holders will have to meet the new criteria of higher starting pay on renewal to qualify

you wish. some companies give you EP level pay on paper to get approved but your offer letter states an amount that is below it. so every month you have to return that difference to the company

i guess it's a question of how bad you want to be in sg

maybe once you confirm jump to another company then can report to Mr Tan of MOM?

I don't know where you are getting to in guiding young couples to start a family in Singapore. Throwing in an X6 with a S$1.6Mil condo example; is analogous to killing the self-esteem of a guy struggling to decide a S$1.7k flat monthly pay.

85 to 90% of locals stay in Public Housing in Singapore and only the 60th decile and above owns a car. For all the intents and purposes of your post, it just suggests that you will either struggle to start a family young, or you just die trying. Extrapolating your "guide" attest to this.

you say that when foreigner (us) come at first, we cannot buy HDB as we are not PR straight away
true...then how do you even expect one to have CPF for the initial payment or afford payment for installments using CPF?
most will be unable afford the initial 30% payment required...most of us are already having problems with initial payment for HDB and you come suggesting a 1.6m condo?
and the car...as all have mentioned, is an even more absurd example.

There are 3 type of employment / work passes which are EP (Employment passs), SP (S Pass) and WP (Work permit)

By the way I have heard that if you are a WP holder before / still holding WP, you can't get married with Singaporean or Singaporean PR in Singapore.

Any type of permit or pass needs to be renewed. PRs have no renewal requirement (REP Reentry Permit is a related but separate matter). And more and more, you will see the permit and pass holders bearing the brunt of any govt pandering to the misguided sentiments of their citizens. As a PR, you are relatively more shielded from such short sighted measures.

not much grounds for you to negotiate. In fact I known quite a few cases that those who stay in jb will get 2nd priority for promotion and career move compares with those stay locally.
