Yes, my girlfriend faced this problem when she was job-hunting about a year ago.
Those companies are trying to save cost, by discriminating some innocent fresh grads.
However, consider yourself lucky if the company call you up and tell you that your expectation is "too high" through the phone. My girlfriend went to a company and went through the interviews, and in the end, they say........ "oh ya, we usually offers RM1200 for fresh degree holder." damn it... dont they understand English ? dumb4$s.......

QUOTE(gsdfan @ Apr 28 2006, 11:02 PM) Can I ask more if I had an honoury degree? than a 2nd class degree? honoury degree?? or honest degree ? as long as you get 3rd class and above, i guess you're entitled to honest degree.

QUOTE(gsdfan @ Apr 28 2006, 11:02 PM) Can I ask more if I had an honoury degree? than a 2nd class degree? To all fresh grads looking for jobs, the salary negotiating thingy works only with small/medium companies. Most if not all of the MNC have their own fixed salary scale according to fresh degree class. I do not think you need to negotiate if you're talking with an MNC.

QUOTE(innocentgal @ Apr 28 2006, 09:08 PM) a fresh degree holder in a 4 star local hotel. Are you in the hospitality field? The salary for that field is lower than other industries, I have to warn you. If you want high salary don't go into this field. I know because I worked in this field for 5 years already so unless the passion is there choose an office job instead
