lets say i buy a groupon voucher on sat n redeem it on a weekend, will i get any cash back?
*
You can't transact online in RM using your Amex card on any day at least at this moment, therefore you can't get any cash back on your groupon transaction. for online transaction cash rebate, go apply UOB VOX card (5% cash rebate for online transaction, limited exception)

paypal option is there, paying by Amex is possible just that it wont go through. in other words, you can pay with Amex in RM. SGD and USD are fine

Folks.
Got sms alert from Maybank American Express. Charged to SKINNYCORP LLC USD75. Bloody hell. Second time this year. Same card AE.

Decided to cancel.

** This card is only used at Shell petrol station. i asked the CS why can happened again. Internal job or what. CS said, at petrol station can reprint the receipt. Receipt print entire CC number meh. I was like..
*
i never used my Amex card for petrol, that's why lower risk? can those who experienced unauthorised transaction like above, confirm?

so far i have encountered once in cc fraud. i made online transaction at Streetdeal.sg, after i made my purchase, 2 days later another transaction went through which was not mine. i recall that the webpage i keyed in my cc details was not secured (https). hence they had a chance. anyway, i did not have to pay for it. so for you all out there, please be aware!

Agoda wont know if its a Platinum or Gold card.
it could only decode the CC number as a maybank issued card
*
QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jul 12 2013, 11:27 AM)
Actually Agoda can. Try with HSBC credit card and you'll know.
*
i think the system will know by reading the first 6 digits of your card

both the gold and platinum card can exist at the same time and GST also will be charged on both side during anniversary. once you terminate the gold card, you have to manually link the commitment to platinum card. ezy payment should not be affected but others such as insurance payments will be affected

Just to share something. If you have yet to redeem your TP and you are planning to, please do so before the upgrading it done. It's REALLY hassle as I've recently upgraded mine from Gold to Platinum and it's taking them ages to transfer everything from the old card to the new one. It has been 3 weeks after I've applied for the conversion and till now the points are yet to be fully transferred. I can't exchange my points for voucher before August cry.gif  cry.gif

GST was charged on my Gold card and since I've upgraded it to Platinum, I called them up to waive it, and got my Gold card cancelled.
*
you should have got it done much earlier than your card anniversary to avoid gst. my outstanding balance and points transfer were done in few days time only

nw maybank no longer good for 5x point. point is total useless. other bank 10000 to offset service tax but maybank need 12500 to do it o. want 5 percent rebate, better apply ocbc and 10percent rebate, better for hongleong wise card. 5x point is useless alr.
*
please do enough homework before you start your comment. MBB 2 is good for a reason compare with ocbc and hlb wise. ocbc 5% still cannot fight Amex on weekend spending, 5%+2%. HLB Wise has some requirements to meet before you get the 10% rebate and may not be all transactions will get the 10% rebates

I submitted the supplementary sheet bout 2 weeks back. The CS don't even bother to call and tell me, I have to call them then they say need the supplementary sheet. I went and did it in the bank and the bank officer din even tell me what was needed. I gave them my 3 months salary only and filled in some form to get basic information such as my name, cc number and all. That's all. I am going to call them soon and ask what's the status again. Probably got rejected or stg.
*
if it has taken so long, should be something wrong. you need to call them and ask bout it. i missed out the sup sheet initially when i requested to upgrade to platinum card, after i submitted the sup sheet, upgrade granted in few days time

LOL ... after all the rumours going around, and the first few batches of kiasu Lemmings who have redeemed their points , look who's laughing now.
laugh.gif
Anyway, the time is already past ripe (by 1-2 years) to adjust the TP, since the last adjustment was like 5-7 years ago ?
That's the time when RM100 jusco is still 16,700 TP.
I recall much earlier than that, it was about 12k-14k TP for RM100.
whistling.gif
*
your point is? you can spend today to get points to redeem at the rate which is 5-7 years before?

QUOTE(GottliebDaimler @ Aug 1 2013, 03:43 PM)
Recently my card number was used by some online transaction. The description of transaction was bongo. Seems like they were bruteforcing my card number against the "valid thru" or "3digit" number.

My question would be,
- can I use a black tape to hide the 3digit number behind my card? We never know if someone that takes our credit card snaps a photo of the front & back in the few minutes they get hold of our card for receipt.
*
you can hide the back 3 digits. certain websites do not require the 3 digits behind to complete the transaction. such as apple store mys

My point is, don't keep collecting the points. Redeem it whenever possible.

1) TP points inflation. Enough said.

2) a RM100 voucher today, used to buy things, is worth more than RM100 voucher 3-5 years down the road. Due to product/services inflation also.
The RM100 voucher I spend 5-7 years ago, I can purchase more items/services than today.

There is no such thing as nothing to redeem. Aeon voucher is the best for basic necessities, since it has supermarket and the price is just a bit premium to Tesco/Giant, if compared to Cold Storage, Mercanto, etc.
Even I don't have nothing to buy at Parkson/Metro, which gives even better redemption, but I still can use it to buy things at Aeon supermarket.
*
ok, i got you. i also redeemed parkson vouchers regularly to fully utilise my points. with the current inflation, it takes a longer time to accumulate the points

What kind of SMS alert other than the one whereby after a certain amount of transaction it SMS to us. How do you do this?

oh sorry, i meant the sms secure code. the 3 digits behind must provide. apple store mys does not require the sms secure code to process the transaction

My card was just used for a fraudulent transaction.  Only noticed it after a couple of hours as I was in a meeting.  Details : MBB:TQ for using your Maybankard ending 0248 for MYR2,999.00 AT APPLE SOUTH ASIA PTE L\\S  0;02/08/13;17:06.For inq call num at back of your card

Was angry because no one called me to confirm this, especially since I really rarely sign such a big transaction on a week working day. There was also no MSOS, really poor control.

Good thing is, the last time I used the card was at Toshokan Subang, so I suspect there is where the card details was stolen. Be aware if you are or have used your card there.
*
i think this is online Apple Store Malaysia. they don't have the visa/master securecode function. the first time i bought ipad from there, MBB called but not the 2nd time. Apples Store sucks then

There have been numerous fraud transaction reported every month, if CVV no is not printed, can those fraudsters perform any transaction without CVV?
*
for online transaction, CVV is definitely needed. everytime i got a new card, i will use eraser to rub off the cvv code at the back of the card to make it less visible. or you may just use sticker to cover it.

by the way, visa card is much easier to rub off compare with mastercard

for those who transact online regularly, please look at the link at the address bar while you key in your cc details. the site should be https instead of http. if http means the site is not secured, your cc details can be easily hacked

Alert guys. My MB2K Master has fraud transaction "STREETDEAL SINGAPORE" yesterday. Received transaction detail via sms alert. It was < RM200. Lucky that I had set my threshold to RM1, otherwise it will go through without alert.  sad.gif

I did use the card online at Streetdeal a week ago. Suspected my card info was leaked in that transaction and used by the hacker on yesterday's transaction.  It was suppose to be a secured site with https. vmad.gif

I had call CS to stop the card. Transaction is at floating status but still need to fill dispute form. Replacement card will be ready in 3-4 biz days and only collectable at card center.

Edit: Just re-checked that I did receive MSOS for my last week transaction before it got through. But I didn't receive MSOS for the fraud transaction yesterday, but received the transaction alert sms straight away. Super hacker bypassing MSOS. Be really alert guys!  sad.gif  vmad.gif

i had the same experience as you but mine was an UOB card. i remembered that Streetdeal SG website, the page that you key in cc details is not secured (not https) therefore our details were stolen from there. i only complained to UOB on the dispute and they did not require me to pay a single cent and no need to file in any dispute form. as you mentioned, there was no MSOS code came in for the unauthorised transaction

Hmmm, I just did a test, and it is https (refer screenshot attached).
So, your experience also without MSOS? Wonder how could that been bypass/compromised.
Was feeling safe with the MSOS security measure, but seems it could be bypass by hacker, then it is not so secure anyway.  doh.gif  vmad.gif

Edit: Just noticed that there is a mobile number field on the payment screen. Don't tell me the MSOS is sent to the one keyed in on the screen and not based on the registered mobile number kept with the card issuer bank?  doh.gif  doh.gif

my fraudulent transaction occured 2 day after my purchase at Streetdeal.sg. shouldn't have used the cc payment method, Paypal is much more secured

Today, I received several sms for online transactions for my MBB2 AMEX supp card. Immediately call MBB CS to have the card suspended. The amount is very little, less than USD100.

So for those of you who have yet to reset your sms alert to RM1, better you do so instead of getting a shocked when receiving your statement.
*
i think all online transactions will be notified through SMS, only retail transactions may not get the SMS
