Factors that affect network performance:

1) Your device:
-You can't expect it to have 20Mbps when your modem's capability is just running max up to 7.2Mbps.
-You might be having a faulty modem, try switching your SIM card with other modems.

2) Your signal coverage:
-If you are not within LTE coverage or getting awful 1 bar signal, don't expect to have 20Mbps of speed.
-Consider placing your modem at a better spot.

3) Congested with other users:
-If you live in an area where there are a lot of users using Maxis, be prepared with network congestion.
-All telco providers will do survey first before doing bandwidth allocation to each location.
-Even you have a 100Mbps modem, under serious congestion, you may not even get 5Mbps.

4) Timing:
-Avoid performing download activities during golden hours (7-11 p.m.), this is the period where those working folks are back to home and start jamming the line. Be considerate with others. You could schedule your downloads to start only after midnight when they go to bed. smile.gif

How to Complaint to Maxis
  • Tweet to Maxis CS @MaxisListens
  • Submit a complaint to Maxis Forum
  • Giving them a call through any Maxis mobile number, the number is 123.
  • Use the Maxis Live Chat
Lastly, be patient and they will fix your issue soon!

I thought this is the expected result. No more data sharing for new Multi-SIM users. Maxis clearly stated here:
QUOTE
If I register for a data plan with my primary line, will it be shared across all my secondary lines?
There will be no sharing of data packages; secondary line will need to subscribe to a separate data package

of course, i called KLCC to ask about it and when they ask which center did give the false news, i blurted "The Curve".

i think that's the reason why that guy received a call from Maxis to clarify.

You got a Second SIM card for your line.

Yup, use your second SIM to make phone calls wink.gif

So eg : You can use the main on a modem while use the multisim on a phone to make calls .

for my case, every multi-sim can make outgoing calls. The number on the receiving party will be shown as your main number. Any multi-sim under your account can receive calls but only the sim that has been set to active can receive the calls.

For example:
Scenario 1:You have SIM#1 in your smartphone and SIM#2 in your ancient phone as a backup. SIM#1 is currently set to active using a designated USSD code. Whenever a call comes in your smartphone will ring. You can always call out from both your smartphone and ancient phone simultaneously as it doesn't matter which one is active.
Scenario 2: Continuing from above scenario, your smartphone ran out of battery but you still want to continue to answer calls. You key in the designated USSD code to SIM#2 in the ancient phone to make it active. Now, whenever a call comes in, your ancient phone will ring instead. Even though your smartphone is charged, your ancient phone will continue to receive calls until you change the active SIM back to SIM#1.

hope the examples helps.

But the call rate won't be the same, right? (This what the CS told me (phone/counter) if I want to take multi-sim).
The 2nd SIM won't follow prime SIM. Call and SMS rate will be different...

Both are correct. If ur IP is different than it's private IP.

You can't used private IP to connect to ur broadband. like to host CCTV and so on..

Morale of my story ~

LTE sucks battery, if you are on smart phone, even 3G is already killing the battery when data is enabled.

My fon when not on data/3g, the battery can last > 36hrs, when on data <6hrs laugh.gif

Got it ? cool2.gif

Cool, no need battery. Removable some more. I wish that th the e589 got removable battery but it doesn't. But othe bright side, the battery last really long.

Can't select the frequency though. Only can choose 4g/3g/2g only. Any way to know which frequency I'm on?

My battery last long too but I guess it is shorter than you since my battery is only 2000Mah

Yes, I can choose frequency. Will do a complete review this coming weekend

Another good thing is 760S can be configured through App. I guess Huawei can too trough the Mobile WiFi app.

Battery for e589 is 3000Mah and can last up to 10 working hours. Based on personal experience, i would say that it is about right. Can last me more than a day if i don't dl alot laugh.gif

Yup, there's this huawei app that can control the modem but the functions are limited. If want to change certain settings, have to log on via browser (even on phone) and adjust there. So i use the browser option more.

Some of the pros and cons of e589 that i've discovered so far :-

Cons : blardy expensive, can't lock frequency, built in battery
Pros : long lasting battery, stable (for a mifi), microsd slot for sharing via wifi

That's all i can think of for now, coming from a non power user.

Anyways, i'll be looking out for your review. Can't wait for it notworthy.gif

You only need 1 data plan, which you can share the connection with your phone/tablet while outside. No need for a data plan for each of your devices.

Also, imagine getting lte speeds for non lte enabled devices brows.gif icon_idea.gif sweat.gif

I have 3 plans from Maxis now.
1 from Celcom.
1 from DiGi. tongue.gif

Side note, today 1800 in my area is very slow. shakehead.gif Switched to 2600 is much faster but compromise on the upload speed. Almost halved from my usual 1800. 1800's upload speed still flies though.

You asked for it, you got it.
After all, Legacy and Biz68 connect to the same tower so the speed doesn't differ much.

PM me your IMEI number.

Consider using the latest windows 8 mobile partner, it improves stability.

Awesome review mate rclxms.gif

The sim slot is at the back right? Cause e589's is at the side and it's difficult to take the sim out, even though it's ejected. Same with e5756. I use tweezer to ease the job lol.

Your speed is also weird that you can't do upload speed.
I'm in PJ and have no issue in running upload speed. smile.gif

Correction: If connected to LTE tower, I have no issue. If not, yes I can't run upload speed.

Haven't test but 760S build in diagnostics is good. In fact very good.

As for Huawei MiFi, I dont think it is possible for now, you may try the latest Beta3 as it support HiLink based, not sure it support MiFi or not

Edit : I guess Huawei MiFi did output those standard diagnostics info like RSSI ECIO right

Huawei diagnostic is surprisingly very basic when it comes to their mifi's. Only standard info like signal strength in bars (5 bars), no RSSI info at all. Don't know why they didn't include that info their mifi's software.

Will try the latest beta later on though but i doubt that it'll work. hmm.gif

I don't think Penang have LTE now

What's the technical differences in between normal sim & micro or nano?

Why only after changing to micro or nano only can get LTE signal?

It's not device dependent? hmm.gif

Thanks for the info bro notworthy.gif

Last nite I went to Maxis Centre to change my normal sim to micro sim in order to get the LTE signal as per Maxis live chat instruction.

However the Maxis Centre staff told me that all the sim are the same. It's just the coverage and whether my device can support LTE or not.

Therefore I still proceed to change it and hopefully not regretting of paying RM25 for the micro sim replacement which doesn't makes any difference.

Upon checking later, indeed the sim does make difference as my Sierra AirCard 320 4G LTE able to run in LTE which boosted up the download/upload speed rclxm9.gif

But I'm still wondering what's the technical reason behind these different SIM card type that makes the LTE.. hmm.gif

Morale of the story, Maxis CS sucks , LYN forumers here are much better then Maxis CS.

You need a newer batch of simcards that can identify what is LTE , just like "a mother cat can identify who is her kitten"

Anyway, care to spill your location and the 320U performance ?

Some screenshots minus your IP address/Cell ID is appreciated.

Hi bro, thanks for the explanation. I do agree with that.

LTE location tested was at Taman Sri Sentosa, off Old Klang Road.

Attached is the Speedtest result captured moment ago inside the house where signal in router is showing around 70%

By the way, how to get Cell ID? Using something like MDMA?

From your MR3420 there should be a place where you can set DNS

I remember there is one on the WAN page
Anyway you can check the DHCP page

Forcing LTE 1800Mhz improve signal penetration, try that

Anyway, Maxis' benchmark is not 30Mbps. It is 75Mbps.
QoS and actual achievable are two things, QoS set by Maxis but if congestion is different, nothing to do with Maxis' QoS.

It is just my current 1800 tower has issue now.

I'm using E398 firmware. and there is nothing shows on the connection status. Just that green icon with red "X" with it. This modem is only few months old from blackubi so i doubt there something wrong with it.

Maxis CS said they just reset the network based on my location and check again after 15 minutes. Can that be trusted? unsure.gif

Some users noted using direct usb plug-in register a better speed , Fruitie is one of them.

I am wondering if a Router helps in LTE dial-in , best if you have a ROOter's FW flashed router , MR3420 or 1043ND. Best is if you have a Asus RT-N16.

As for me, my location is not LTE enabled yet. On my observation, Asus RT-N16 ~ Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.260 return a better dial in speed on a usb modem compared to my MR3420 and 1043ND ROOter's FW flashed DC-HSPA+ connection on a MF680. E372 and E398 lagged way behind.
MF680 is the best.

I'm so jealous with your speed guys. I'm still using 3.2mbps modem bought many moons ago when I signed up with Digi. Planning to get a unit of E398 from blacktubi here.

All I can say I don't need to prove to you. smile.gif
I can screenshot the HLR but I can't show it out publicly. I'll not as well privately. smile.gif

Your HLR is 75/75 but Negotiated QoS is different, it could be 30/30.

Btw, now , some Biz are being capped @30GB whereas Legacy is still Unlimited.

Once Capped speed is throttle to 2Mbps. If yours is throttle to 30GB ( LTE ), you are considered fine. icon_idea.gif

IMO, to be still able to "run" at 2Mbps is considered fine cause its the person's fault.

Mine is throttled after 30GB but still can get 22Mbps after throttled speed, better than any 3G guys. biggrin.gif
Of course to be compared with my LTE speed, that 22Mbps sounds very little. laugh.gif

Never mind, I still have the Legacy as well. I have both best of the world. biggrin.gif

Oh, I didn't do anything to my router, still using the old OpenWRT that Chuah helped me.
Nope, I don't think it works. So didn't share out using router, after all it has quota. So not sharing it out. Only use Legacy to share out. smile.gif

Do you have MDMA?
I use MDMA only and switch as I like. No issue about searching for other network's LTE.

I'm not sharing the speed, you experience it yourself. biggrin.gif
This is only my second month of using LTE, so not sure if my finding was accurate. biggrin.gif
30GB is not huge for LTE, one night - 3-4 hours usage can go up to 2GB.

I thought the 1800 tower in my area is slowly restoring, now back to slow speed. doh.gif doh.gif

Only that 1800 can help me to get more than 40Mbps. doh.gif 2600 can only get 30Mbps. sad.gif

Aargh I miss my fast speed. Just now 1800 can get 27Mbps, I was so happy. Temporarily only, now back to 15Mbps. doh.gif

Got the e398 modem and tested. Impressive speed. But LTE coverage at my location (Bangsar South) is pretty poor. The connection gets terminated every now and then. Maybe I should get an antenna?

Try forcing your modem to LTE 1800Mhz as generally got better signal penetration

Else you need to hunt for a nice spot

2G/EDGE support. that's literally it. then can internet wider (however slow it may be) lol. plus can send sms with it, right?

though if i think about it, we dont really need 2g since maxis boasts 'wide' 3g coverage.

so, i chat with network ppl in tweeter. he currently doing site testing at sabah.
from his pictures i see that he doing site testing for both maxis and celcom around malaysia .
i ask about the testing, he said the testing only allow staff and vip to connect to tower.
so incase u can see lte but cannot connect, that site might be still in testing mode and not open publicly icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm feeling sad that Celcom LTE is not available in PJ and my office. Mind you I'm sharing the same building as Axiata. sweat.gif

Once it's here, you guys will see my Speedtest. brows.gif I'll find the Account Manager for "good" Celcom plan. biggrin.gif

[Insider] We heard that more people have resigned from Maxis. There may be a short list but we got to know that 2 key people from the senior management resigned. They are Ebru Dorman(Head of Home & Broadband Business) & Mohamed Fitri bin Abdullah(Head of Enterprise and Government Business). MAXIS HAS DECLINED TO COMMENT. We believe there may be an official announcement on Monday as Maxis will be restructuring. Stay tuned and we will bring you the official updates.

Huawei E3276, come with a Huawei self developed HiLink chip doh.gif

Signal reception -
Latency -
Performance +
This is the comparison to E398. Can't blame the signal, E398 is very scary on signal reception tongue.gif

Maybe Huawei will release a firmware soon to boost the power amplifier laugh.gif

When there is 42Mbps available for you to "abuse" why go for a 21Mbps modem/mifi doh.gif

42Mbps modem ( if no LTE is enabled in your area ) = ZTE MF680 aka The Beast

42Mbps mifi = Huawei 760s

both are Dual Channel enabled on 900/2100 MHz

If you still can get MF680 and you feel the saving worth it, go for it else just get a LTE modem for future proof.

BTW, MF680 don't support 900Mhz if your area signal is bad, this is not a good idea to be honest.

I guess many people are selling used MF680 at cheap now try look for it.

from my past experience,..

when after flashing the wrong firmware causing the purple led gone,..

i notice when after freshly flashing,... the first time u insert sim and plug into computer or router,.. the first connection is always meant to connected to 900MHz,..

since flashing wrong firmwareis no big deal when u could use older dashboard ( come with old DC-HSPA+ capable driver ) or router ( where u can manually input the modem bin file for DC-HSPA+ capable ),....or openwrt router ( which come together with DC-HSPA+ driver in the openwrt firmware )

so no big deal for the purple led as long as the modem itself can performs

currently ZTE MF820D is the most worth value LTE modem,.. notworthy.gif
using zte mf820D + openwrt router, u can directly use AT Command to force to LTE 1800 or 2600,..

that model is soho wireless,.. if u dont config/play play with setting,.. i think it is wasted to buy and keep in store to collect dust  sweat.gif

I actually very thrifty on other things, just that Modems and Routers squeeze the cash out from me.

I agree if you are a Linux guy, you should not have problem configuring a Mikrotik, moreover this router have very strong WiFi and it can work wonders if you are good at it.

Abang tubi is busy with his 760s already,.. hardly anytime left over to make a guide on that microtik,.

i agree that model wireless is 1000mW,.. confirm is powerful specs,. with the processor, and ram too,..

with openwrt, am sure that model can be wonders,.. .

well, for zte model, newer MDMA dont support, but if u are using with openwrt, can use AT COMMAND to band config still notworthy.gif

If only MDMA can display SMS that will be perfect.

I'm using Company's Celcom line in my modem and I can't seem to forward calls to my own personal line...

I have tried that every time a call came in, it triggered the voice mail and missed call alert. I received the notification on MDMA but can't open the SMS... sad.gif

Try using MDMA to lock the modem to 2100Mhz or 900Mhz

Sometime the modem would switch to other tower with lower speed doh.gif

Yes RB951G that's a nice router to have. I had my eye on that one even before it landed in Malaysia officially and got my hand on it the first day it arrived last one and half month I think. The hardware and the running OS is great in there.
Well if you don't mind a help from nubie I can try to guide you along the way. Agreed that's a SOHO router and without the bells and whistle I'd chosen it because it looked cute (read small form factor)

Yes tried smile.gif. It's charming I must say

I wanted to get that one at first. Mainly due to the sleek LCD screen but then the form factor is an issue for me.Did further reading and I got to know that RB951 is the latest but when enquired they said they haven't brought it in. Waited patiently for few weeks before the news arrived that they got it on our shore in
The RB951 I got it from the LYN (I think the distributor in M'sia or something along the line). Review wise I can do much write up but I would sound geeky biggrin.gif

I got the info from MDMA.
Once I'm on LTE, I'm only connected to the specific tower for each band. That's why I made the conclusion that my area only has two towers. laugh.gif
If I select both 1800 and 2600 at the same time, 1800 is the priority and will be automatically connected to that tower.

11Mbps is far better than your previous speed. Moreover, 20Mbps is very rare for DC-HSPA+ these days.

Looks like your area is not stable, mine has no such issue but 1800 tower seems to have issue in my area. Only around 16Mbps but 2600 still flies.
If it's OK, 1800 is much faster for me.

gurus here, i would like to ask, is there any known way to boost signal reception, to be frank, I am not too sure where the tower in my area are located, the cell mapper only show a few low accuracy tower nearby me, and i'm not sure what that means....
I figure if i can get ~80% signal for LTE i might be able to get stable connection... just wishful thinking..
right now it does seems to be jumping tower very frequently even after locking frequency.. if there's anyway i can force lock to one tower also as a workaround

gurus here, i would like to ask, is there any known way to boost signal reception, to be frank, I am not too sure where the tower in my area are located, the cell mapper only show a few low accuracy tower nearby me, and i'm not sure what that means....
I figure if i can get ~80% signal for LTE i might be able to get stable connection... just wishful thinking..

1) Place your modem at a nice Feng Shui spot, windows is nice
2) Consider using some signal boosting equipment eg Soy Box. (Refer WIKI)
3) Update the modem to the latest 11.433.61 firmware
http://blacktubi.com/files/Firmware%20Upda...33.61.10.55.exe
4) Force modem to 1800 or 2600Mhz LTE
5) Get an antenna if really that serious

meaning 1800Mhz is still faster for you compared to 2600Mhz ?

so what will be your 1800 and 2600 in Paramount Gdn now ?
*
Yes, if it is in good health. It is twice faster than 2600. smile.gif
1800 is around 16Mbps, it is sick now. Else it can go up to 50Mbps. sad.gif
2600 is only around 33Mbps.

1) Maybe the tower is not on that Window side

2) If you still using 11.335.03.00.422 you highly recommended to update to 11.433.61

3) Yes, and it is very simple only

I'm a beginner of flashing this firmware into E398 U1V2...
It pop up "error code: 17" after i key in password.

Here's i did.

1) disconnect current active connection
2) close dashboard
3) double click the downloaded firmware file vE398_Update_11.433.61.10.55

Please enlighten me which step missing or wrong.

Thanks.

There is 2 data tower there, choose the 1 near EP. Dont choose the 1 near BBU.

I just move out a while ago. The data tower near EP i cant rmb the Cell ID but that 1 can go avg 8 to 12mbps, the 1 near BBU only get avg 0.1 to 6mbps. IINM u will auto lock to the BBU tower, u got to change ur direction and etc
