oh yeah, sorry to add. actually 2.5k, but can spare some for around this value, 2.7k. if haswell is worth the addition RM120, I'll think a way to fit them in my budget.. sweat.gif

wowww. I never thought I can include xeon in my setup biggrin.gif  looks very good. so, multi monitor setup doesn't need more PSU power? and a gtx760 is ok already for my requirement?
*
yes, the gpu should be able to run most of the current games at a pretty good setting.

GPU-Sapphire HD 7730 1GB GDDR5-RM269

total-rm 1708

edit-Made some changes on the price for the case and gpu. Sorry about that. doh.gif notworthy.gif

itx board is the small form factor, for example this is Asrock B85M-ITX board:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

while M-atx board are slightly larger, has more PCIE slots and memory slots, for example this is Asrock B75 Pro 3 M board:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

For ITX case like Jonsbo U3, only an ITX board can fit in.

hello everyone, I'm planning to get a budget gaming rig soon. I'm not a very hardcore gamer. Budget is around RM2K-RM2.5K for the system unit. What do you guys suggest? btw, where do you guys normally get your (cheap and reliable) hardware from? I'm currently staying around Petaling Jaya, dont mind travelling to KL. Thank you in advance. biggrin.gif

Thank you alfierjr and aaronFPS! I'll further my research on this.

Intel Core i5 4440 and Intel i5-3470. Which is better?
Btw, how does turboboost works? Is there like a on/off switch? Or its an automatic function? what triggers it?

Is it better to get an 8GB RAM or 2x4GB RAM?
What are the pros and cons?

Besides that, what's the difference between WD black and WD blue?

Sorry to bombard you guys with so many questions. paiseh noob here tongue.gif
*
In actual fact the i5-3470 is slightly faster than the i5-4440 but the i5-4440 is newer (haswell).

the turbo boost makes the CPU run faster when extra performance is needed. it's automatic. for example when performing too many tasks at the same time.

for the dual channel vs single channel memory, there is little difference in real life application. The pros of having dual channel that i can think of is if one of the ram spoil u have another 4gb to back it up.

The black is slightly faster than the blue but both will spoil in the end anyway since both are hdd. I say take the cheaper option and invest on an ssd.

haswell doesnt really benefit desktops right? which CPU would you choose?  brows.gif

i'll take the haswell since it's a bit cheaper and when intel Broadwell comes out next year u dont have to change your motherboard if u want to upgrade again.

Hi guys.

I'm looking at upgrading my rig soon (not sure when TBH, have to save money first  blush.gif ). Which component do you guys think should be upgraded? I have no budget at the moment, and just want to know what people would upgrade first when given my rig.

I use this rig mainly to play games (BF4, Crysis 3, etc) and will also do some editing every once in a while. Rig was bought and assembled mid-2011.
Intel Core i5 2500k
Asus P8Z68-V Pro
Kingston Hyper-X 2x4GB
MSI GTX570 Twin Frozr III
Corsair HX750
Samsung 1TB HDD
OCZ Vertex 2 60GB
Cooler Master CM690 Advance
Liteon 24x DVDRW
Cooler Master Hyper 212+

new graphics card smile.gif

an AMD R9-290 should be a significant upgrade.
