hi sifus, need some help for a better suggestion of Rig to beat the Dell Inspiron 660 Mini Tower at around the same cost of RM1799
i5 3330
8GB DDR3 1600MHz
2TB 7200RPM HDD
Nvidia GeForce GT 620
Windows 8
Wireless Card
DVDRW

mainly use for internet surfing, multitask/data process (office, outlook, many browser tabs, website script), video/HD Movie
only once a while for gaming maybe like need for speed?
and i wan to use back my creative titanium soundcard which i most concern of can i open a dell casing for this without void the warranty?
currently i'm using toshiba laptop i5 8GB Ram GT620 Win7Home but often feel lag when multitask and movie graphic not smooth which is wat i wish to improve from a desktop
*
so i get that your budget is RM1800? do you need the wireless card and OS as well?

Anyhow, Try this one

Intel Core i3 3220 RM354
ASROCK B75M-DGS RM199
Kingston 8GB Value RAM RM194
WD Blue 1TB HDD RM189
Sapphire HD7850/Leadtek Gtx650Ti Boost 2GB RM599
FSP Hexa 500W RM149
BitFenix Merc Alpha RM139

Total RM1823

QUOTE(dennisyeoh @ Aug 17 2013, 04:54 AM)
hi sifus i am now building a rig with a budget of 3k or less
and here is my build list

intel i5 4670k
enermax naxn82+ 650w
msi z87-g43
8gb value ram (any brand to recommend)
wd black 1 tb
CM scout 2 (trying to find a quiet case in the same price range if possible)
zotac gtx760
*
Spec looks good, but I'd recommend that you take the WD Blue 1Tb instead of the black version, if loading speed is your concern get an SSD wink.gif

Value RAM - Any brand will do, sticking to good brands such as Kingston ensures better quality and support wink.gif

Chassis - Scout 2 is a good choice, at that price range you could be spoilt for choice actually, try looking at Corsair, BitFenix, Silverstone and Xigmatek, you'll be surprised wink.gif

Planning to build a 3k+ rig with LED Monitor

Intel Core i5-4670
GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H
CORSAIR CMV4GX3M1A1600C11 (4GB 1600MHz x 1)
500GB Western Digital 16M SATAIII - WD5000AAKX
LITEON 24X DVD-RW SATA Super AllWrite Drive
COOLER MASTER ELITE N300 Mid Tower Case USB 3.0
COOLER MASTER GX II 550watts
Radeon 7950 vapor X sapphire
Dell 23' LED IPS Full HD UltraSharp Monitor DVI+VGA+USB U2312HM

Quoted from Swisspac with additional stuff i add

1) Is gtx 760 should be replacing radeon 7950? I'm ok with both brands and this desktop is purely for gaming purposes

2) Any better/cheaper casing + psu ?

3) any opinion?
*
some things needs adjustments

1) Gtx760 is meant to compete with the HD7870 but the performance is close to the HD7950
2) the PSU will need to be replaced, the chassis is fine but you could always choose one that you like
3) try this one

Intel Core i5-4670 RM669
ASROCK H87M-M RM319
CORSAIR Value RAM 1600Mhz 8GB RM199
WD Blue 500GB RM159
LITEON 24X DVD-RW RM59
Leadtek Gtx760 RM799
FSP Raider 650W RM269
BitFenix Shinobi Window RM220
Dell U2312HM IPS Monitor RM589

total RM3282

Thanks! Will check em out

Just wondering, why the xeon and not the i5/i7 processor. Thanks.
*
the Xeon has the processing capabilities of an i7 but at the pricepoint of an i5... just that it comes without the IGP built into it

Hello sifu before this i want to buy msi z87 g43 but anywhere i go on the internet people say it suck and then recommend higher price board.

So even if i dont sli but if i want to oc i should get higher priced board like gigabyte z87x d3h or asus z87 A? Do note im only looking for mild oc. Or can u guys recommend good yes oc no sli mobo for me? Or is g43Just fine
*
Well there is a case where MSI Z87 motherboards are hotter than others but you do not necessarily go for a higher priced board an Asrock Z87 Pro3 is priced similarly to the MSI board

Looks good to me... if you're looking to save some $$$ can consider getting value RAM and switch to WD Blue for HDD, otherwise just go ahead with your system build

QUOTE(Akera @ Aug 23 2013, 10:24 AM)
Hi guys, I need help on building a new PC + monitor, what do you say about this build? budget 1.8K
Usage: gaming, desktop customization(rainmeter, etc), watching video

MOBO: Asrock B75M R2.0
Proc: i5 3330
RAM: value RAM
HDD: WD blue 1T
PSU: corsair VS 450(I believe FSP hexa & gigabyte power rock is out of stock at low yat.XD)
GC: HD 7770
Case: I'm waiting for bitfenix prodigy M, so I need a cheap momentary casing
Monitor: 20" and below monitor

I also need a suggestion on a good gaming controller(not included in the budget) around RM30-40
*
your build looks okay, at that budget there are limitations but the spec is really well thought of wink.gif but you might need to bump up a bit of the budget to include that 20" monitor going for anything smaller is not really recommended

Try

Intel Core i3 3220 RM354
Asrock B75M DGS Rm199
Kingston Value RAM 4GB RM104
WD Blue 1TB RM189
Sapphire HD7770 Rm359
FSP Hexa 500W RM149
BitFenix Prodigy M RM300 (estimate)
AOC E2050SW led 20" RM279

Total RM1933

cheap momentary chassis?? use the mobo box as a open platform for a while wink.gif

and the controller, bump up the budget and get the xbox 360 controller for PC wink.gif RM129 but really recommended

Guys, i'm planning to get my rig at the end of the year. Should I get windows 7 or windows 8? Sometimes I do installed older games. Just scared not going to be compatible if use Windows 8.
*
older games like how old? X-wing star command? (1995) tongue.gif you could still use win7 but eventually it will phase out, support for older games shouldn't be an issue as you could always use emulators IINM hmm.gif

I'm talking about games from 2008 to now. The Sims 3 as example.
*
2008.. some games might not work, some apparently do... i think the best is to get advice in the Technical support section... hardware has nothing in relevance to what you're asking IMHO

TQVM for the recommendation rclxms.gif but just a few more question;

1.)about the ram. Is there any difference with the 1 i mentioned?
2.)should i get the 3rd gen processor instead? since from what i heard there is no big difference with the 4th gen processor.

yeah the thought of lasting till 5years+ a bit far fetching, i am content if i could play those incoming games in 3-4 years time with medium to high setting.
*
1-no diffrence unless you're going for world record in overclocking
2-you are listing a 3rd gen CPU

P/S: get the Gtx760, same price as the HD7870 but more performance... with the saving from the RAM, get a more powerful PSU like the FSP Raider 650W @ RM269

want to ask,

G1610 / G2020 which better?
Asrock B75 Pro3-M

is it enough just for file server?
need it to support 3tb hdd and many sata port...
*
same series, higher number is better, but for file server IMHO the G1610 should be sufficient, even third party solutions for a storage server is not that heavy

[Personal Preference Brand] Want to use CM strom stryker as a case

*
IMHO if you're willing to sacrifice the chassis, you could get better specs, but if you want it that way then nothing I can do

Try:

Intel core i5 4430 RM564
Asrock H87 PRO 4 RM369
Kingston 8GB PC1333 RAM RM194
WD Blue 1TB RM189
Leadtek GTX760 2GB RM799

Thats a good idea as well, but I'd bump up the GPU if it were my rig wink.gif SSD can add later

i think i might put a lot of hdd in the future (4tb per slot)
u think 500w is sufficient for my need?
and for cpu cooler, is it really necessary to buy?  hmm.gif
*
adding HDDs is fine, they don't require so much power to begin with anyway and nope the cooler is purely optional

just noticed something... a 500W running the Gtx770 is a tad bit risky IMHO

Try:

Intel Core i5 4440 RM589
Asrock B85M Pro4 RM299
Corsair Value Ram 8GB RM199
Zotac GTX 770 RM1349
WD Caviar Blue 500GB RM159
FSP Raider 650W RM269
BitFenix Outlaw RM120
Dell U2312HM RM589

Total RM3573

nice setup but Intel Core i5 4440?? never heard of it  blink.gif
but i got a question about PSU, what is the meaning of modular PSU, more good than regular PSU?  hmm.gif
and for that casing it's kind weird when the hdd position on the left side  sweat.gif
any beautiful, sound proof, good cable management bitfenix casing u can suggested to me?
i dont mind to reduce ram capacity to 4gb
*
it exists and available wink.gif take a look at Viewnet's pricelist but do check with them to be sure if they have the SKU in store

Modular PSU user posted image

non modular PSU user posted image

The only sound proof BitFenix chassis available so far is the Ghost, honestly the sound proofing is not as good cause of it's meshed top design but to some extent it works,

as to the question of beautiful chassis, it's very subjective, I can suggest you all the chassis I know and still you'd probably disagree with me so it's best to take a look at the chassis and decide for yourself wink.gif for BitFenix products, just click the link on my siggy wink.gif

yes you may place an Asus Xonar on it, providing that you still have a pci slot free at that time smile.gif
