I've stayed at Macau Nam Hotel before in 2011. We took their 4-beds room.

The location is very good, got wifi too. But fuiyohhh, the mattresses were hard like hell. It was like sleeping on a wooden block.

Well, the other hotels were too expensive for us, so some sacrifices must be made I guess.

use complimentary bus by casino to go round.

public bus is easy - just spot the bus number at the bus station nearest the your destination and track the number to the nearest station from your departure point.

Easier if you have access to internet, google map will tell you what bus to take.

prepare small change - fare range from 3.2 to 6.4 MOP depending on where you go.

I'm travelling with mixed group with youngest just 10 years old up to old lady of age 76, so need clean and decent rooms with attached bathroom.
The are many budge hotels in Macau peninsula but how long does it take to reach the airport and to go to the island for signt-seeing ? From the map, the airport is on the island and will I get delayed cos of traffic jam on the bridge liking macau peninsula to the island - I'm scared to missed the flight back home due to jam on the bridge ( like Penang Bridge).

What is your budget for rooms per night? It is difficult to get a clean budget hotel in Macau as most are shabby looking (from trip advisor). Try looking at Sintra, Regency or Taipa Square to see if they fit your budget, around 260-300 per night.

To transfer from mainland to island (taipa), you can rely on the free shuttle or simply grab a taxi. They charge MOP15 for the 1st 1600 meters and add MOP1.50 for every 230 m there after. For example, Grand Lisboa to Altira fare is around MOP35.

The jam is not as heavy as Penang or KL. Altira to airport during morning rush hour takes around 20 mins, MOP42.

Macau has so many casinos. What FOC drinks are available inside ? Any FOC food/tidbits also ?

Good question. In my previous trips, you can see soft drinks and tea/coffee served openly, on the cart, offered to you at most of the famous casinos. My recent trip, however, you can only see plain water in a bottle. You need to order other drinks from the waiter/waitress (but maybe only for those seated on a gaming table).

If this is the case, it's sucks. In S'pore casinos, U can just get free-flow of Milo, Nascafe, soft-drinks, etc either from the vandor-machine staff or serve yourself if she is not there. Which casino did U go to to get only plain water ?

Even the dress code entering Macau casinos are so relaxing.. When we still need to wear Batiks & proper dress code to Genting Casinos in the early 90's.. I entered Lisboa casino (The largest on at that time) just wearing round T-shirt and sport shoe ..That time, The Genting casinos looks & feel much more grand than Lisboa. Ony recent years, with more & more casinos in Macau, you get the same grand feeling there but the dressing code in Macau still as simple as last time..

You can easily get bottled plain water in places like venetian, galaxy, cod, grand lisboa

Haha.. well true also.. During the early 90's, the tallest buiding in Macau is just beside the Lisboa casino i.e that Bank of China. Infact Macau ppl that time more accomodating to China's chinese rather than Hong Kong eventhough HK returned to China slightly earlier. And between the 2 buildings, there is the big roundabout and the famus Macau bridge (The only one) to Taipa island. No airport yet that time and Taipa island really hulu place and less populated.

Furthermore you can't see any surrounding tall buidings opposite Macau City which is right now - Zhuhai New City. Last time opposite side just jungles! And I din know it's China.. ..Fast forward during my visit in 2008.. darn.. Those Zhuhai jungle areas are now mostly highrises and even more & grand than Macau City

now they are planning to develop another island which is near to macau and zhuhai, non casino type of entertainment

Surely some of the casinos offer free-flow coffee and soft-drinks like in Genting Highlands and the 2 casinos in S'pore ? Else how could they be so stingy - afterall Macau do 6 times more business vs Las Vargas
