Also had a small question about focusing quick moving subjects.

How many of you here uses AF Servo? For me I always use One Shot and keep tapping the shutter button in order to track the subject.

I think everyone needs to use AF servo if the object is moving too quickly.
Those who rely on centre AF point will have no choice but to crop.
Better needing to crop than oof.
*
yeah cant do anything since Servo on 550D is quite slow, as the outer focus points aren't that good.

I think he's trying to make use of the colored areas to draw people's attention into it?

Love that shot btw, but wanted to see it in full B&W too.

"I use so from entry level to 1D also I don't feel the AF speed difference la"
lol u sure about that?  laugh.gif I can assure you an "entry level" cam af speed vs a 1d series especially the newer 1dx AF speed is quite a differences  laugh.gif

as for perceive I would say those are pretty inaccurate one should try them self to come to a more accurate conclusion better yet use for a prolong period before one conclude biggrin.gif
*
But a lens can't go any faster right lets say it reached it's maximum focus speed on a lower level body.

since you're talking about speed one way to judge conclusively is the shutter lag so from that alone they're is a differences if add all the variable together say shutter lag+focus+mirror flap+shutter open expose sensor+take pic then is quite a diffecent... you said you feel little diff between an "entry level vs 1d" I can say that is feel wrong...

well since I use 5d2 for so long two years and counting I can say the centre point focus is not slow perhaps most here confuse...the thing that is slow is the 5d2 shutter lag which slow things down...the focus is fast... biggrin.gif
*
huh, does shutter lag has anything to do with focus speed?

haha okok lah tongue.gif
no lah its just that af only start when the cam detect you press shutter and the high shutter lag of the 5d2 make it seem slow  smile.gif
*
Isn't that shutter lag is the time needed for the mirror to flap up and down and the shutter to operate? didn't know it has something to do with the connection between the shutter button and focusing mechanism.

Canon 70D

New Sensor!
Below is the spec list of the upcoming Canon EOS 70D.

The new autofocus type we were told about appears to be the Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus. It works up to a claimed 5 times faster than previous EOS cameras in live view.

and I can also tell you that
1. it comes with video / photo switch near viewfinder like 7D
2. the mode dial also like 7D, less of those noob functions.
3. dial at the back is like 60D
4. overall feels like 60D.

........... and yes, I used it before. hehe.

oh and yes, confirm the battery grip is BG-E14

7D has weather seal, a bit faster burst mode and mag allow body (mean heavier).

isn't that the 60D is quite weather sealed too???

not everyone requires the tank build on the 7D though.

Which isn't much at all.

blink.gif

i wonder why camera companies don't wanna make more of their lineups weather sealed. it wouldn't cost a lot of extra money, since pentax can do it easily with their k30. marketing and profit again?

pentax can do that with K-30.

Canon do that with 60D who want to buy 7D?
*
yeah... marketing again. sad.gif why don't canon just merge the 60D and 7D into 70D? like what nikon did.

hehe same tongue.gif

looking the specs make me wonder a little if there will be a 7D II? the 70D is already a powerful camera, feels like it can win the d7100 if the IQ is improved.
