Bro, I know your pattern. You are just using this as an excuse (not reason) to change your current 16" to 17" again. 16" on Highway also OK what. Else Camry, Accord, those 16" Altis, Civic all don't need go highway? Hehe.

I don't agree tongue.gif

16" is still the best I think, comfortable for long distance driving (correct me if I'm wrong)... If not for the appearance, I already change to 16"...

this is my understanding for Electronic Throttle Controller (ETC), there are few brands and models in market that i know of, potent booster, d-spec, redline

Afaik, the PB is to adjust the sensitivity of the pedal, Example u set low level, means the sensitivity is low, u have to press more for the car to move, this also consider eco mode, good to use in heavy traffic, in another case the PB can also help those who think their car is over powered car to make it lower powered by reduce the pedal sensitivity, like the fiesta in small size with high cc; if u set to high level, the pedal sensitivity increased, just a slight touch on the pedal and u can feel the car is eager to move, this is what u feel 'increase in power', only the feeling, no increase in horse power or top speed. For ppl who drive forte 1.6 we know it does feel a little heavy for a big car with small cc, therefore u feel the car is heavy to move when u press pedal, especially from standstill. The PB is in fact give u a more pleasant driving experience cox u can feel the car is lighter with the increased in pedal sensitivity.

**sorry if my english is proper, correct me if i'm wrong with my understanding to those ETC**

Aiks, I thought the PB only applicable to drive by wire cars? 1.6 is drive by cable and I don't think PB can apply. Standard price out there seem to be 750 for e-drive.

Dude, if I'm not wrong, JB has more potholes on their roads compared to KL. So, your 16' rim will do you good over there.
Unless the city council already upgraded all the roads, of course.

On another note, I'm looking/planning to install a car alarm system on the Forte. Do you guys know of any, besides the original KIA system, which is compatible with our existing SmartKey?

I remember I saw one from sh@rty from gs or yip auto from sea park pj, u can look for yip in fb

QUOTE(lingleeyen @ Jun 13 2013, 10:36 AM)
After a 3 days (including this morning) 8 trips of extensive driving (which clocks 290km in total) which includes city, highway, traffic jams, midnight speeding, cucuk-ing and kena cucuk-ing, I think I can review now on VS.

1) AC not cold enough. I am current set at 22 degC and I do not feel that the off coil temperature is 22 degC – Review: Improved. Colder. Now temperature set at 23 degC and it feels colder than previous 22 degC. However, when I turn to 24 degC, it is not up to my requirement. So will stick to 23 degC.

2) 1st to 2nd gear change is noticeable. Not jerking, but the sound. Other gears not noticeable – Review: Definitely improved. Smoother feel, sound also smoother.

3) Car vibrates very very little at idle, my butt can feels it - Review: Improved. Car vibrates very very very very very very little now during idling. Be it in idling, or engage in D with foot on brake. Changing gear from N to D feels so smooth and no vibration effect

4) Some of the songs has interference noise in stock car audio, but nothing on laptop - Review: No Improvement. Not able to fix. The interference is still there. Improved. Bass and the deep voice crispier, total sound is clearer. Sound level did not enhance. Still playing songs at level 7 as previous. There is however, one effect that I have noticed. There is one song with heavy bass. At the same location, same time, same song, same verse, before installation, the rear view mirror trembles abit when the song boom. Now no more trembling.

5) Wife said engine noise loud when she is outside of the car - Review: Improved. Noticeably a slight bit lower engine noise at idling and during running (after the car has run smooth). Evening start up also more quiet. Morning crank up still as loud (at least I think it is) but the noise does comes down faster, rpm drops to below 1k rpm faster than before.

6) Piggy back feel at traffic light – Review: No Improvement. The piggy back effect is still there. There is still an empty room in the accelerator. Not sure if it has decreased. Do not think it has become sensitive.

7) Gear shift smoother for all gears in AT – Review: No Improvement. 6 speed gear already smooth. Not much of effect that I can feel.

8) Light (Head, cabin, tail, etc...) become brighter and less dim when air-cond compressor kicks in - Review: I do not feel compressor kicks in effect on this car even before installation. So when does the compressor kicks in? I do not know. I also do not observe any light dim or power loss. Improved. However, the in-cabin lights, the tacho lights, the HU lights are definitely brighter. Very noticeable. Head lamps also brighter, sharper. Seems to have further throw.

9) Reduce sudden car slow down when you rev and at the same time Air Cond compressor pumping - Review: No Improvement. No feel on this car even if no installation. So this one can ommit.

10) Increase battery life span - Review: Too early to tell

11) Improve ICE audio clarity and bass because your AMP needs clean and stable voltage - Review: Same comment as number 4

12) Engine turns to be quieter and lower vibration because the power from spark plug is enough and misfire is reduced - Review: Same comments as number 3 and 5

13) Increase engine life span by reduce carbon residual inside your engine chamber and also increase engine performance - Review: Too early to tell

14) Increase life span of car ECU, Car Player, AMP, and other electrical or electronic components - Review: Too early to tell

15) Improve Fuel Consumption - Review: Too early to tell, but will after 1 month

16) Easier morning start up crank – Review: Car still new, no problem in morning start up. Other comments same as number 5

17) Lighter throttle – Review: No Improvement. I accelerate like uncle. Constant acceleration. I cannot really feel that the pedal is extra light. My foot is light enough. Still coming out slow from SmartTag Gate and will still have 2 cars’ length gap during jam. I think this will still happen to me even if I am driving a Ferrari. Driving habit. I was trying to pull away from a civic 2.0 when both driving at 140km/h, I maintained 2 car length but not really able to run away far, but there is a slow car in front of me and I have to brake to 100km/h. He kept his momentum, over took me when I accelerated to 120km/h. So in this case, VS is not helping you. You need PB

To me VS and GC is not a performance part. It is more like a prevention part, a passive part for your car. Just in case your stock grounding cable deteriorate, your performance drop. GC is there to back it up. VS stabilises voltage and hence protect all your electronic gadgets. Worth it or not ah? You judge. I am happy thinking what this combo might save me from. Older cars might see more of the effect as the stock they have in their car is already deteriorating.

I would personally refrain myself from going to sh@rty. Not a very bad experience but the staff there are unkers and they do not really sayang your car. Slam your doors and all. I got my car mat there and till now I am happy with the car mat.

I then tried to get my Euro plate from sh@rty. Good arrived, installed, the staff is not as attentive as staff from Sahara-X in Sunway. They scartched my bumper when the steel plate dropped from the frame. The Indon unker in Sahara-X wipe everything before install, hold the plate like a baby, makes me happy.

To my horror also, the workmaship of the steel plate is real bad. I only realised that when I get home. I was rushing at that time. Sh@rty however is an honest trader. He fully refunded the money to me without question asked and said sorry.
