QUOTE(nokia6280 @ Jun 22 2013, 10:42 PM) Not sure what's the hype about Samsung 4.2 in s3aosp rom are better for me. Don't think I will flash touch wiz rom again on s3 Custom aosp rom have ~led customization, fading effect is good. Those paid app doesn't even come close. ~on screen keys. Very intuitive and make phone usage a lot faster Why you guys like touch wiz? Any fantastic feature absent in aosp that I'm missing? |

QUOTE(YouDontKnowMyName @ Jun 25 2013, 05:37 PM) in my opinion, benchmarks don't mean anything. just tested antutu, i get 15884The galaxy S4 can score super high in benchmarks, but the overall smoothness and fluidity of the OS is not as smooth as other phones (xperia Z, Htc One). It's really a matter of whether or not the performance is optimised for the phone or not. Plus, in my experience when our phones first came with 4.0.4, the benchmark scores were higher (I got about 6.9k in Quadrant back then). Then when 4.1 came out, the benchmark scores were lower (Quadrant gave me 6.2k with Jelly Bean) but I felt that the performance of the OS was significantly smoother. Apps loaded faster and homescreen felt smoother. Probably due to Project Butter and perhaps some optimisation too not sure that number is good or bad. speaking of s4, i saw one in show room. i very naughtly turn it off, and do a boot test. my friend was with me, so we booted all three phones at the same time. s3, note 2, and s4. all also stock display set. note 2 and s3 show lock screen in about 30 seconds, s4 50 seconds only show lock screen. i totally canot brain why s4 slower than older gen phone. the s4 on display is kindda laggy. i already turn off all the smart gesture. duno why. probably display unit got problem |

QUOTE(Arvinaaaaa @ Jun 27 2013, 11:29 AM) Hi..whats the best rom out there that gives the pure android experience without the touch wiz and all that extra softwares..? I feel that android pure will make the s3 perform better..correct me if im wrong..thanks i use omega rom and alliance rom before shift to aokp.in between i also tested cm and paranoid android. i dont feel any big difference in terms of speed, during browsing, or when playing game. if you take 2 similar phone on different rom, and do the so called app launch test, the difference is less than a fraction of a second, and most likely due to different time the left and right finger touch the screen. |

QUOTE(Arvinaaaaa @ Jun 27 2013, 12:26 PM) Oh ok..so what you telling that the Pure android is very slightly little better than the 4.2.2touchwiz only? Not like a very huge difference right? Correct me if im wrong both also good. depend what you prefer.touchwiz ~can use allshare ~got s-beam ~mhl port working ~no weird bugs, super stable ~all samsung smart feature working aosp rom ~super cool on screen keys (can toggle to hide anytime), make controlling phone alot faster ~notification light control, can use fading effect, and customize for every app ~customizable quick toggles ~swipe status bar to control screen brightness ~customizable auto brightness values ~change camera focus setting(manual auto focus/continuous auto focus) since i dont have samsung TV or mhl adapter, i prefer aosp custom roms. got 2 types of weird bug in aokp rom, one is camera sometimes cant connect, got one app, tap to restart camera. and 2nd issue is battery usage reporting is wrong. android OS always higher than screen usage, but its fake reading, battery life and screen on time is still great. fake wakelock to frighten u only. |

QUOTE(normeck @ Jul 1 2013, 01:31 PM) i dont think its from router, when i flash 4.1.2,there is no problem with wifi... almost all 4.2.2 AOSP have problem with wifi.. haizzz even on a fresh install?what kind of problem? cannot connect? keep disconnecting? i used aokp and cm nightlies before, they work fine. i nv see people complain wifi issue in aokp thread before in xda. the known bugs i have is camera connect error and false battery usage reporting. camera bug can be fixed with an app, battery usage bug i just ignore it since its harmless wifi works on all the aosp roms for me. |

QUOTE(YouDontKnowMyName @ Jul 1 2013, 07:11 PM) I've been using the aluminium battery cover since I bought it. Phone 'feels' lighter and more premium. It gives the phone a very nice slightly-more-premium feel Plus, don't need to use the phone with any casing. Feels great in the hand Question is, why wanna use a case for? For me I just use aluminium battery cover. Don't need casing. Phone feels lighter and much less bulky. Easier to grip and looks nicer But phone 'IS' more likely to survive a fall with a case. I prefer safety rather than look. Just like you look more macho driving without safety belt, But you are less likely to die during a crash. Look at youtube drop test by Erica. She drop the phone twice with case and nothing happen. Once remove case and drop, instant crack. I already feel premium using s3. It's an expensive phone and everyone knows it. If u take a galaxy w wrap in aluminum, it's still cheap. S3 even put inside ridiculous hello kitty rubber case, it's still expensive and have a premium vibe. This post has been edited by mtxx: Jul 1 2013, 09:05 PM |

QUOTE(boonseng @ Jul 1 2013, 09:05 PM) hi, im new to this, however i had read up as much as i could...alot of info here v30... Only affect the 16gb model. due to financial restraint >which i see that s3 is giving the best spec with the affordable price. So before i purchase, the thing i hav to check is the motherboard? which must be newer >1.4 ...which is 1.5 or above? i hav google-ed it up..and seems like the blogs are overwhelming with comments stating the sudden death syndrome Buy the 32gb and have a peace of mind. |

Abit lonely in this thread.
Seems most active users use touch wiz rom. And eagerly waiting for 4.2 touch wiz. Nothing wrong with that. Just hope more members join the aosp custom rom gang haha. By the way, aokp has been on a break sine 15june. Nightly builds has started, and second milestone coming soon |
