I am assuming you are asking SOT. If only normal browsing and reading, you can get > 7 hours SOT, meanwhile, if I just do some normal browsing and reading, 1 hour SOT only uses 10% of the battery, I am currently on stock kernel, custom kernel could have better battery life I assume.

There are few Slimport cables, USB to HDMI, USB to DVI and USB to VGA, since all of them are listed under Slimport cable, so it is still quite expensive.

Try to press volume down + power button at the same time for at least 15 seconds and see if you can boot into fastboot mode with a big green android lying down at the middle of the screen, if can then you can just use the toolkit to flash back the stock image with option soft-bricked.

Err, you are using the new Nexus 7 2013? If yes then it is quite hard to repair now according to a forumer here because parts are yet to arrive in Malaysia and might need to wait up to 2 months.

Old Nexus 7 should be quite easy to repair as parts are available, if I am not mistaken , if you take your unit to Asus @Lowyat Plaza, they will quote you RM430 for screen replacement. But for me, I would recommend you to buy the new Nexus 7 2013, it is really improved a lot in terms of performance

Asus MY will start selling 16GB WiFi @RM999 and 32GB WiFi+LTE @RM1299 in next month.
But if you are looking for WiFi unit only then try to buy from garage sale sellers, most of them are selling <RM900 for 16GB WiFi and ~RM1000 for 32GB WiFi, or alternatively, you can buy from Newegg Malaysia, RM899 for 16GB WiFi and RM999 for 32GB WiFi.
