QUOTE(wilsonphua @ May 15 2013, 08:09 AM) Faster release haha. Now dilemma in choosing between nexus or fonepad fonepad can never match the specs of the new nexus 7. You are comparing between a 2000cc car and a 1200 cc car if Google carries on the same type of pricing strategy, it is a no brainer - the New Nexus 7 is definitely a better buy even if it costs up to RM200 more ( only disadvantage is probably you cannot make calls on it)

QUOTE(gin&tonic @ Jul 25 2013, 08:20 AM) I don't think its gonna be a long wait for it to land here. Specs are awesome for the price. Good value for the money. Best bet is on Newegg to bring it in at price similar or slightly higher than US prices

QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Jul 25 2013, 03:15 PM) Snapdragon S600 = APQ8064T Snapdragon S4Pro = APQ8064 You can roughly get about 80% of APQ8064T's performance with APQ8064.The SOC is still an excellent SOC.IMO the price of SOC fits new Nexus 7 since Google want to keep the price low. You guys will get good price/performance with this tablet. I think our telcos's are using 2600Mhz spectrum for LTE.There's 1 more I forgot. It's not European set compatible with Malaysian LTE,device with compatible LTE will work in Malaysia. The other is 1800 mhz Only European sets support 1800 n 2600 mhz LTE

QUOTE(CyberKewl @ Jul 28 2013, 07:58 AM) preorder 32gb seems to cost at least RM 1k...if u do the math at most cost RM 900..that's RM 100 bump from retail price.. Is fair price. Come on, the seller need a profit for his efforts. Some even quoting rm1100-1200!

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jul 28 2013, 05:25 PM) yes, agree, pay extra RM100-150 to get it first at initial release is a fair price. Pre-order it with Chromecast. My seller I estimate makes only rm80+ for the 32gb wifi. Even rm100 profit is ok with me

QUOTE(Cynox @ Jul 28 2013, 06:32 PM) finger-crossed. The risk of issue for the first batch is normally higher, but high risk high "return" - what to do? Asus Nexus international warranty. My first nexus 7 from USA change motherboard after a month ( my fault's hard brick it) . Sent in to Asus JB n was told need motherboard change but will be FOC. Surprised as the tablet keep booting to clockwork mod recovery. All hard button cannot boot to fastboot mode. End of day I got a free unit replacement as technician somehow screwup changing motherboard No need even show proof of purchase and serial no is sufficient to claim

QUOTE(xchaosdragon @ Aug 6 2013, 10:11 AM) To me tethering from phone is not very dependable, the phone may probably run out of juice when you need to make a call. On the other hand, setting up hotspot could be quite troubling if you do it all the time. Flimsy excuses I would say. I always thether with my Android phone with my only WiFi tablets.

QUOTE(xchaosdragon @ Aug 6 2013, 11:01 AM) Perhaps my argument is not plausible due to my lack of a data plan, as well as a tablet. But I do find my smartphone's battery life un-dependable. Perhaps it differs for your case No wonder you say such stuffs. I have a 5gb n 3gb plan on 2 phones n my phones all with good battery life eg ex Note2, Mega 6.3, xperia ZU, ex Mate. These phones easily 6 hours SOT.

QUOTE(incognito @ Aug 6 2013, 12:34 PM) is there any kastam tax incurred? i'm thinking of ordering direct from US as well but just afraid will kena taxed If is mobile phone No tax/duty. If bring in as wifi tablet I was asked to pay 10% tax ( based on value+courier charges) plus another rm100 for Sirim permit. The custom officer showed me his tax book showing 10% tax on tablets but none on mobile phones. That was for my second Nexus7 wifi 32gb unit

QUOTE(Gilthoniel @ Aug 6 2013, 07:22 PM) Hey Benny, I think this time my invoice mentioned it was a PC Tablet. So being a PC, there's no tax. It's weird coz I remember they said they wanna lump tablets under PC equipment, that's why you can get income tax rebate. And I thought no tax as well. You are lucky. Mine was declared as a wifi tablet by the seller. I got it from a USA seller from ebay.

QUOTE(ThehWS @ Aug 13 2013, 04:05 PM) warranty void once rooted. however, many reported that as long as you manage to unroot it before returning to asus for warranty claim it should be no problem unless you are really unlucky My first N7 rooted n with custom recovery. Fail to boot n always into CWM recovery only. Hard buttons cannot boot into fastboot mode. Sent in accepted n motherboard change FOC. But tech screwup n I got a new set as replacement. The staff recorded it was rooted n o custom recovery. Mine was purchased direct from google Some rooted even got speakers change FOC. You can ask in N7 thread about these This post has been edited by benny888: Aug 13 2013, 04:11 PM
