charging pad use electricity even not charging?  if not then very easy d, keep it on whole day loo, need then put on top, no need then just leave it. biggrin.gif
*
Ideal case, yes but practically (real life), impossible. Nothing is perfect.

You want it not to use electricity, you have to totally switch off the thing. Else do you really expect the wireless charging pad to wake itself up to start charging your phone when you place your phone on it? biggrin.gif

This also applies to transistors in all SoC. Ideal case, it should be consuming no power at all when one transistor is in its off state. But in real life, there's something called leakage thus making zero power consumption idle impossible biggrin.gif

welll at least its half possible. hehe. leak abit oni still ok guaa. biggrin.gif
*
Erm... As they shrink down a transistor (microarchitecture), reducing the length of the gate, the leakage is getting more and more serious. I remember I read before that 28nm is about the limit before the leakage gone too high.

That also explains why Intel started using FinFet for their Ivy bridge at 22nm and in Haswell, 22nm too. Reduced leakage!!

It actually not "a bit", it affects a lot. Else they will just keep shrinking without new tech. This explains why they need new architecture to keep up with the increase in performance and to keep leakage/power consumption low at the same time.

I just checked the Tech Specs for the new Nexus 7 again, and it seems that they've updated the LTE Part:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Does this mean that we will be able to use the LTE with the US version of LTE enabled Nexus 7 since 1800MHz is included?
*
But you'll prefer the Europe version.

Celcom Malaysia 1800 3 Yes May 2013 [139]
Celcom Malaysia 2600 7 Yes April 2013 [140][141]
DiGi Malaysia 2600 7 Yes July 2013 [142]
Maxis Malaysia 1800 3 Yes April 2013 [143]
Maxis Malaysia 2600 7 Yes January 2013

I believe they won't have both 1800 and 2600 covering the same area so it's better to get the EU version since it has both 1800 and 2600.

Anyway, without LTE, you'll be getting HSPA+ too. It is fast enough d, too fast means you burning your quote at a faster rate biggrin.gif

Well, its going to be more expensive because its from newegg, and not neweggbusiness. There's a 6% tax if buying from Newegg.

Update: saw the 16GB listed on neweggbusiness, hmmm.... Shark mode on har?
*
Shark mode always on la... How can a business man not want to make profit from their business. Agree? biggrin.gif Maybe when Asus officially announce it, their price will go down too. Hopefully down to around RM800 (they adjusted their conversion rate to 3.3 so it should be around 3.3*229+50=800) (16GB I mean)

QUOTE(Rocksteady @ Jul 31 2013, 08:31 PM)
Can the LTE work with our Boleh`s Lands......,,

Malaysia uses 1800MHz and 2600MHz. Figure that out.

@IwanAGP,

Wow... But just like to remind you the previous version is selling higher than Newegg despite having a lower price tag and conversion rate.
*
Anyway, no rushing, just wait and see biggrin.gif

Btw, I don't quite get what you mean.

"Previous version" as in? N7 V2012 local Asus price?

Don't quite understand biggrin.gif

Newegg sell 820 for N7 2012 32GB right? 249*3.1 + 49. It's lower than local price right?

now time 3.3 at least brah..
*
Even times 3.3 also...

With their previous calculation for N7 V1 32GB (RM820), should be 229*3.3+50 = 805. Means they're making profit by selling 899 (I meant more profit). Anyway, that price should be alright for some people. I choose to wait biggrin.gif

(headache) . no point argue about the price after conversion and mentioned that it is expensive. Normally seller also need to make margin of the product. Some more the product is not yet available here. So it is their high time to sell and make $$$ before ASUS bring in to here. Once ASUS bring in, they cannot sell high and eventually need to drop the price. However, this process will probably end up for another 3-4 month. I recalled last time when i ordered my N7, Malaysia citizen need to waited for 4 month.
*
Refer my previous post. I quote what I said

I'm not urgent on getting a tab. Also can't quite justify the need for a tab.

I understand that's how the market works. I'm not arguing either, just telling the prices quoted by those sellers in lowyat.

Oh, btw, I never used the word "expensive". What I did was just listing out all the prices. Anyway, icon_rolleyes.gif

I thought Nexus products never face any AOSP problems?
This is the advantage of owning a Nexus.
Nexus is supposed to be the most well-received Android device in the market.
*
Erm... You can read up on it. It happens to be a problem caused by Qualcomm. First in the Nexus One, then in the Nexus 4. Now Nexus 7. Glad Google fixed them and it's up now wink.gif.

To be specific, it's a problem with driver binaries. Without those, your phone basically won't display anything coz it's the driver for Adreno 320. Can you imagine your phone/tablet boot up without a driver for the GPU? biggrin.gif

Not sure if it's the same problem but I'm referring to is that the touch screen can't track touches nicely as demonstrated on Youtube:

Part 1

Part 2

Quick question, does the clear SP nowadays still the same as 2 years ago? I mean it's not that smooth as the matte and tends to attract fingerprints...  icon_question.gif
*
laugh.gif I believe it's still the same if you're paying the same price as 2 years ago biggrin.gif

Clear will attract fingerprint no matter what unless you buy those with oleophobic coating which is expensive. Want prevent fingerprint, get matte SP but matte confirm will degrade your display quality especially those that produces rainbow effect doh.gif

Or you can use a flip case and just use without SP. It will still attract fingerprint when you use it naked but won't be as bad as those clear screen protector biggrin.gif

just wait for the update patches, hopefully  rolleyes.gif
my less than 1 week review, after few years on the apple side . this is my first android tablet so still much to explore (root/cfw/cynogen/etc) :

+quite cheap for its spec
+its Nexus *updates and support is a sure fact*
+7' *pocket-able*
+camera is good enuf
+photosphere is best of the best. the stitch is quite good, the dynamic range is great!
+i like the screen feels without SP, dunno if gonna put one or not  laugh.gif
+bought my wireless charging Nexus Orb  biggrin.gif *probably buy another for car*
+NFC

- the touchscreen thingy - but i can live with it. hopefully can patch fix
- gps - still problem. but it was fine the day i bought. smooth
- wifi - cannot change dns *i know there's a way, not that important yet*
- bluetooth - cannot set other bt device as trusted so no need to authenticate everytime. need apps/root maybe
- still no case available *takut jatuh*  sweat.gif

still working my way into android, much to learn  cool2.gif
*
DNS can be changed.

It's in the Advanced option for each Access Point. But you can't set one for all AP you connect to. Check if it's there in the N7 2013 since I'm on GNex but I believe it's same.

If you want to change DNS for your existing AP, just go to WiFi settings, long press, modify network, show advanced option.

The problem is... You must set it from DHCP to Static IP in order to see DNS Options and set it.

Have fun with android brows.gif Especially Vanilla android!

For buying from Taobao/Tmall, you need an agent because they don't ship to Malaysia (some do ship oversea at your request but is more expensive)

1. Look for an agent here:
https://forum.lowyat.net/ServicesNoticeboard

2. Look at their rate. Normally Price on Taobao divide by a number set by the agent (Item Price/Agent Rate -- normally 1.88+- depends on conversion rate) OR divide by currency then multiply with service charge ( Item Price/Currency * Service charge -- Currency around 1.97 now, service charge normally 1.1).

3. Look at their postage fee to Malaysia. Range from 10~12 to West Malaysia 17~20 to East Malaysia PER KG.

4. The price you get in 2 + postage in 3 = total you have to pay.

**Item price must include any local postage to the agent's warehouse. Normally postage from China Seller location to GuangDong GuangZhou.

Anyway, you can just ask those agent quote their price for you. They'll handle the rest wink.gif
