Asphalt was ported over from iOS, and Gameloft has a bad reputation for porting games. So I wouldn't put the blame on the tablet. Other games like need for speed should fare fine

its no biggie. So far I've yet to encounter any touchscreen issues on my N7.

Hi, I have a LTE variant as well. If you check at Settings - Battery - History details(you click on the chart), you may find that "Mobile Signal" and "GPS" is constantly running.

If you are not using data, then I would suggest you to turn on Aeroplane mode, and then turn back on Wifi.
As for GPS, you can open up Location access, turn off "Access to my location" and then turn it back on, turn untick GPS as well. Somehow the GPS only completely turns off via this method, and sometimes you may need to give it a fresh reboot if the mention method does not work.

Some may say that GPS will only be used if you open apps which requires GPS, but then I am merely offering my advice, take it or not, it's your decision.

Even the ipad gets hot after prolonged usage. These devices does not come with cooling fans, hence a little heat is of course expected.

In my personal opinion, in terms of android, nexus devices are the best experience you can get, in terms of fluidity and performance. I have instagram, facebook, and falcon pro running almost all the time, and while switching between tasks, the nexus 7 holds up to its name. Though it does show a longer delay while switching to more power hungry applications, such as games.

I was never a big fan of apple's ecosystem, but I must agree that it's speed was unmatched, until the recent update to iOS7, which seems to stutter all apple's devices.
