please pardon my humble non-professional feedback, purely from comsumer point of view:
1. pink on food related? i don like it 2. font not so nice 3. the arrangement and use of space so dull 4. i will give 5.5 over 10 |

IMO, too much images
take away the three food thumbnails (or maybe put behind) and, maybe, the information structure need to have some arrangement, eg, title size bigger, something u wan it to be focus more. and perhaps, home made bakery and cakes can be placed under the title. and.. perhaps add more information like address? or email. |

Wait a minute! That's namecard design...
How big is the namecard going to be..? The proportions look more like a website to me. And if that's really a namecard, don't be surprised you're going to have to do a lot of chopping later. I'd opt for a simple format. 1 side has an image of one of the food with a short list of specialties or maybe a best seller cake. 1 side with the name of the bakery, it's tagline and the contact info. In other words, you need a new design with the correct proportions. |

Its look like a menu design too me. Should put the company logo on the card. Adderess and contacts must be there too. The things you sell and do can be at the back of the card.

Simplify the design, the front should have their company name, logo(if any) and their contact. You could always print the specialties and such at the back of the card.

Overall I think you have to think of the following:
-The pictures might look nice and sharp right now, but once you print them the card will be nearly 1 and 1/2 smaller than it is now. The pictures will be unable to be seen clearly, there fore either remove them or make them larger. -Regardint typography and fonts you definitely need to play more with this, there is just 2 much information on one side of a card. There is no sense of focus in the card. Its just a piece of paper with lots of info and 3 pictures to be frank. I mean you have lots of information, with 3 pictures on the top and on top of that you have another transparent one in the bg. You need to organize and breakdown the card. A suggestion would be printing it on 2 sides. On one side you should just have the name/ number and the name of the company. Play with typography or maybe even create a prominent logo. Whilst on the other side you could either list down the specialities or put pictures? Overall honestly and frankly speaking there isn't much design elements and design thought into this card. I'm sure you can do much better and one should always plan and sketch a series of ideas before hitting on screen. cheers |

i would suggest u design a logo for the bakery first. and oh yes i just have to say it, TOO MUCH DIFFERENT TYPE FACES used in this name card, i can count about 5 different typefaces? )
it's too heavy on the right hand side. like wad nada says, i suggest u do it in two sides. |

Can I comment?
The choice of type is ok. The word 'Specialities' using cursive font is ok I 'think'. Just that the pink color, fonts alignment and size. The right side, the list of cakes, can use smaller size fonts, while the name and contact no., i don't know, i somehow feel abit weird, hmm.... |

5 / 10 ...
I noticed that you mixed up too many font types. Good start in designing, but next time, be more confident towards your own artwork, don't post and ask people : "Please comment my design please". A designer should have this kind of confidence, if not you will never improve. Nice Try ! Keep on good work ! This post has been edited by eyeball: Apr 28 2006, 07:45 AM |

QUOTE(eyeball @ Apr 28 2006, 07:43 AM) Good start in designing, but next time, be more confident towards your own artwork, don't post and ask people : "Please comment my design please". I agree on this to a certain extent. But prompting any budding designer to not post their design to ask for a comment/feedback/review is just so typical Malaysian.A designer should have this kind of confidence, if not you will never improve. Nice Try ! Keep on good work ! Yes, a designer should have confidence in their work but not asking anyone's view on it isn't a method of gaining confidence in your work less said helping the designer build up their education and confidence in this industry. In college, designers prepare rationales for presentations. In university, designers prepare rationales and reports for presentation. Why are they put through this? It's because they're suppose to build confidence in research, development, theirk artwork and to have courage in speaking and accepting comments. We're no longer in the era of Renaissance where every artist is hidden deep inside their tavern painting away a style that they've found on their own. So in other words, sharing and being able to accept comments is a good method to improve oneself as a designer. If you hinder this fact, you shouldn't be calling yourself a designer. Cheers. |

The best designing part is to catch people's attention and impress other people when they look at it,thats the ultimate factor to success in designing.
That is my opinion, designer need other's opnion to criticize on to make it more constructive and integrated with creativity. If a designer with high confidence can design the world's best design, but what's the use when viewer don't like the design? correct me if i'm wrong. Now is my comment, its just a namecard right? so based on the size, too many words will just make people confused and hard to read, as it's kinda small and people need to squeeze their eyes on to see more clearly J & I Home backery should be specialy designed like a trademark adn easily to be noticed. The pink is ok to me,but most important is how ur customer perceive it.since u say its customer request, stick with it. The specialties i think is too much and words are small, hard 2 let people read. The images?even worse, people will hardly figure out what it is.I presume it will turn out to be blurry on the card. unless ur printing of the name card using high quality printing with detailed and high dpi. Just my 2 cens |

Can i dump in my view too? uuhuhuhu.
Agreed wif others wif the logo thingy. logo n motto shld be in front. as well as the name n contact.. background shld be a lil bit blur, coz dat aint the focus..as the specialties, y not opt it at the back of the card? and as for the images, y not try to put icons, rather than real pictures.. coz if they want real pictures, it myt b better to give em ya catalogue, or website address.. more frenly lyk dat. havin many real life picture on such a small namecard is a no-no to me. hope dat helps, n good luck sistah! (assumin her gender based on the nick)... no offence. This post has been edited by r4ydc24: May 2 2006, 12:06 PM |
