Hello guys,

My goal is for me to reduce my body's fat % (especially the belly and love handles) and to build muscles as well. I started going to the gym early this year and for now, I commit to at least 4 - 5 days a week.

I am 24 years old, 91KGs (201lbs) and 187cm in height.

I used to have rice daily , and almost for every meal (Lunch & Dinner). Now it is reduced to about 2 times a week (On my rest days, Saturday & Sunday). The rest of the days, I try to have meat and bread staying within my daily colorie intake.

I did some reading and came up with a few supplements to aid me.

Scivation XTEND™
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein
MusclePharm Creatine
USP LABS SUPERCISSUS RX
Universal Nutrition: Animal Omega
Primaforce Pure ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid)
API Fat Burner Advanced

I vote for scivation and API :

Scivation for recovery and API for boost performance and enhance fat loss.

I loss 12kg from 104kg to 92kg in 3 months periods with API alone and of coz proper diet.

Then I start to take scivation only till now. My weight is now 89kg. Start weightlifting in early December nod.gif

rice and bread both are carb. you just need to reduce the intake without totally stop them.

and for rice, it is better u consume it after heavy workout day (leg day), no at rest day.

just my 2 cent..

or you can try intermittent fasting, read it at leangain.com

Since you are the begineer, not necessary to waste money on supplement, use the money to buy real foods instead...salmon, nuts..beef..they aint cheap anyway.

Fish oil and multivitamin are sufficient. smile.gif

Would definitely recommend whey and creatine. Creatine is simply a good all rounder and cheap compared to other supplements. Whey only if you are not getting enough protein.

a bit more won't hurt anyways lol

Would recommend
Protein
Creatine
Fish Oil
Multivitamin (Orange Triad)
Fat burner if you really want.

Whey is recommended if you find it's hard to meet your daily protein requirement or you need a hassle free food.

Creatine is very good. Tried it and loved it.

Pre-WO is good to have but not a necessity.

Fish Oil is good to have like seriously. It helps you joints a lot.

But this is my acvice. Introduce those supplements to your daily diet one by one. That way, you can know which supplements are doing good for you or which one is not. There are some people who doesn't responded well with creatine, pre-wo etc2.

Thank you all for the wonderful input.

As adviced by alien9, i believe it is better for me to try a few supplements first before going all the way to see which works and which don't.

For now, I have decided to go with:

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey Protein
MusclePharm Creatine
API Fat Burner Advanced
Orange Triad
Fish Oil

I do not have any joint problems as of this moment.

So should I purchase these supplements?

Should be all good.
If you wanna cheapen your budget, you can go for creatine monohydrate like Optimum Nutrition Creatine, AllMax Creatine, etc. But MusclePharm creatine is still good. They have the same effects in the end.
Controlled Labs Orange Triad is a solid multivitamin with added joint help & digestive/immune help if taken at full dose, that is 6 pills. Split it like 2/2/2 or 3/3 or however.
And remember for fish oil:

Thank you. Excellent information.

By the way, so If i go for a cheaper creatine as recomended above, there will not be significant difference in results since they all are more or less the same right?

By the way, which fish oil do you recommend that is available in malaysia?

Currently I am taking Nutriforté Fish Oil 1000mg (300mg EPA, 200mg DHA)

No significant difference. The end result is still the same which is where you are saturated.
No idea about what fish oil brands are in Malaysia though (currently not living in Malaysia).
Good ones are NOW Super Omega EPA, Controlled Labs Fish Oil. Not sure about others. Just check out the EPA/DHA levels and the cost of it.

Get a certified practitioner advice instead of searching hi & lo in this forum..you may bump into irresponsible salesman who would promote his/her product. Health is not something that can be repaired and replaced like gadget when damaged. If you love your body, and wish to live long enough to see your grandchildren, start doing light workout regularly instead of aiming for a fast result. Alternate day of 3km light jog per routine with swimming is a good start. Preferably, have a buddy to workout with you, otherwise you will need mental discipline and motivation. Both are free anyway. Running is becoming a trend lately....

REMEMBER, your fat is not built in one night so as to get rid of them. Key words : WORKOUT, BUDDY, DISCIPLINE AND RIGHT ADVICE.

Just my 2 cents

You don't need supplements to lose body fats. Eat the right ratio of protein, fat and carbohydrate. You can even lose body fats without exercise if you know how to play with the macronutrients. Of course exercise will definitely speed up your fat loss process.
