Hey guys,

sounds crazy, but how does one be a perfumer ?

To be perfume seller is one thing, but to be a perfume maker ? where or how does one start ? looks like a interesting job.

curious.

try to watch the movie perfume the story of a murderer , it explains how to create perfume well enough anyone could understand.

Nice movie... Crazy ending..
*

yeap , the ending is so twisted, something u just won't expect. on serious note it does explain how the perfume is made, and anyone who is sometimes baffled on how complex the process in and why perfume is much more expensive than deoderant should just watch and later try distilling some rose petal and try to get the rosey smell of a perfume.

Ya a lot of process just to get the essences. I got the book as well. I wish I can have a small decant of tat frag... Mass orgy lol

And the scent is so divine until been eaten up

But seriously with tat formula, he can dominate the whole world
*
That orgy scene was so unexpected, and the last scene too getting a cringe just thinking bout it now.

how did you feel when he tried to extract the scent of women by putting their bodies in oil?

you can now smell the scents created in the movie.

well that actually is still imaginable, as it is a story of a murderer and i mean it make perfect sense to create a scent that nobody ever created, it just show how twisted a mind of a psychopath is in achieving something other's haven't before, still within the boundaries of my logical thoughts at least, but i mean the effect of the scent is ridiculous, up until that orgy part i thought it was a pretty legit movie, after that it sorta goes to fairy tale mode as far as i'm concern.

(p.s I have a mild suspicion that you can never really replicate the scent's from tat movie tongue.gif )

A friend who studied literature told me that the book has more details that are even scarier.
*
that's how book tends to be vs its movie counterpart, always more elaborate in their details having the luxury of spinning layers of words upon pages that will take 100 times longer to go through than an average movie.

SOTD : Gold Leather from Atelier Cologne (Sample).

Classy, Casual leather blend well with Plum.
Not sweet at all,Quite light due to cologne type and remind me of my shopping trip to Ikea while choosing some leather sofa seat wink.gif

Opening notes i get Plum,Leather,Rum,Oud and bitter orange..
The rest still remain neutral on my un-train nose..

That's a rather intriguing match up, leather being classy, relaxed undertone and orange having a more vibrant quality about it as with many citrus is. I imagine somehow both is set to a milder tones to compliment each other, despite having a contrast in it's basic form.

SOTD - English Fern by Penhaligon's
It's English Sunday for me. A classic barbershop smell with lavender, geranium, clover and a touch of oakmoss. It's quintessentially English! It has below average projection and moderate longevity on my skin.

Anyone care to join me for cream tea?

Haha.. It just a friend offer me an opportunity to try a 10ml decant and wat cost me is a fraction of my reinvestment from the cost I salvage from my own decants, so still somewhat within my mean

I have other more priorities than buying a four-digit 100ml juice for the time being...

Well yea I'm playing with fire and thank god the fire is under control... At least the experience of trying such luxury perfume is a positive one and the decant will serve me well lol

End of the day it is all about how we see things, I'm just sharing my virgin experience here with Roja which I never dream I would, and if someone thinks I'm just fancy for luxury price tag... I have nothing to say

Tat is not so serious... Mine is scent addict lol

I'm always more intrigue on a perfume that triggers certain memory in us , like if i get a whiff of a girl walking and she actually smelled like a beach vacation i used to have in the 90's , or maybe rosy scent my gramma use to wear like musky rosy which probably can't find these days that would like make me fall in love and want to know that girl more, just by the scent, now imagine you can actually trigger a girl's memory via putting the scent that actualize scenes of her past that would be such a killer perfume.

Sure got risk one if the stakes are high, i would definitely still wear a scent that can get me scarlett johansenn's in my arm, even if the scent would kill all the surrounding plants when i walk in a 10 metre radius around it lols.

you just wear to hook them on the fishing line anyway, like a stranger's brief encounter, not on long term everyday thing, hook em and get a date then after that wear your dior Fahrenheit and armani code ahahaha

QUOTE(Joey-kun @ Apr 17 2014, 08:28 AM)
As Jeal Paul Guerlain had said, scent is the most powerful memory. I think its because the olfactory nerves are connected directly to the brain rather than going through other intermediaries.

Thats why I use classics because it triggers memories  brows.gif

Scents can directly affect one's mood, which is why i have many to rotate between moods, or when i need an all-day picker upper. In my case it is for my personal enjoyment, rather than to show off (because other malaysians dont care about the scent you use anyway). It's kinda different if you're in a more  perfume conscious society like  in europe or the US where wearing strong perfumes in the office is frowned upon, or that people will actually come up to you and tell you that you smell good.
*
you don't know how much truer your words can be in the malaysians society on how timid they actually is, and even if u make the first move they still rather run in the shell than just out with it. You can read body language like if they look at you more than twice and when you notice it they'll rather look away than stay engage in the eye. But it does helps that you smell nice and be confident and pick up those cue they left, and ask how's ur day and all,and get her number but it is hardwork here. an asian thing probably? being timid and less ballsy in taking chance.

though it's interesting to know paul guerlain's remark, but would you care to note just some of ur fav classics scent? maybe YSL opium?
i always love the smell of my father's opium especially when he came back from outstation when i was little and i can smell it all over his collars, so i get one when i got the chance, and it did struck me with one girl in particular which happens to think it's such a manly smell.

I used to feel the same way about Guerlain too until I smelled Guerlain Homme.....and samsara. But if they were made by a different house/brand, i'd still love them.
*
i watched a movie called samsara earlier last year, invigorates my mind and made me look at the world differently.
