hi guys ... currently taken thousands of pics and trying very hard to keep things organised smile.gif

just wondering what sort of software & editing prog you all are using and which is the best  yawn.gif

i am currently using elements 4 which is good but the photoshop album part is laggy compared to acdsee 8.

Organize using Win Explorer, filename-> day-month-year--venue thumbup.gif
Then view in Fastone, very good viewer IMHo after trying ACDsee, Picasa. Picasa is no bad though with its basic auto color/contrast.

fastone can be bit slow when viewing big files, kinda slow loading thumnails, but its simple & small installation files.

i name each folder with date and where i took the pic, what occasions is that and label it with numbering. eg : 13. [01Jun06] D1 Shah Alam, after one year, create a folder like 2005, drag all 2005 pic to that folder. and i view the pic use ACD See 4 only, faster tongue.gif

Picasa2 user here. So far it's the most convenient photo managing software I've used. Nice GUI as well!

Windows Explorer, using this naming scheme:

[YY mm dd] Event name

This way the folder named "13 06 2006" will not go beside "10 09 2003" biggrin.gif

for my babies photos: windows explorer, go by yymmdd the photo was taken, divide into subfolders.
for my other photos, picasa, upload to picasa's webalbum, organized in, well whatever comes to mind. so far I can still keep track of all the photos I've taken.
oh yeah, on dvd for overseas trip, one for wedding functions attended, one for family functions/occasions.
it's really upto you on how you want to organize it.

Well, I guess you should really consider ACDSee at least for now... before the photos go way out of control tongue.gif
