Hello guys!
So I'm planning to buy a headphone around end of December or early January. So far, planned budget is around 300~400rm (can go higher but prefer not to, as I want to keep some for other stuff)

- Lenovo Z400, Samsung Galaxy S2, iPod shuffle. No amps or soundcards, yet.
- Mostly for music. Then there are movies. Lastly games. But I don't mind my headphone being solely for music biggrin.gif
- FLAC and MP3
- Rock, hiphop, metal, classical, electronic etc. Everything tbh, depends on my mood
- Circumaural, closed. Superaural closed is also okay. But prefer circumaural. (open type is not a choice)
- Mic is a +1 but not important at all. I'm only looking into headphones that have detachable cords. Sound isolation - should keep out most noises, if not all.

Right now there are 2 on my list.
Griffin woodtones over the ear headphones.
Pros: good reviews about it being comfortable and really good sound. Detachable cord. Looks good wink.gif
Cons: 1-2 weeks to deliver, can't test before buying.
Nakamichi NHP850
Pros: Sound is good (I tested it last week) detachable cord and build quality is strong (+1 Nakamichi being a Japanese brand!)
Cons: Not the most comfortable, sound can be a bit better for price range.

Maybe I should mention this as well, not a big fan of Sennheiser (don't as me why, but it's probably the designs).
Another notice. I travel a lot. Public transport. Bus and LRT all the time. (4 hours every weekday) So please recommend me headphones that don't leak much sound.
My first target was Grado SR80i but the headphones leak so much sound that it sounds like speakers to who ever is nearby, hahah.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Consider custom one pro, should fit your criteria well, except the price maybe
*
Considered. But yeah, price is like double from my range. 799 from jaben.

Anyone here has tested out or bought Griffin woodtones? Everything about it sounds good. But only problem is I can't find a place to buy them in KL.

Closed + Detachable cable + Budget RM400 headphones:

[+] Audio-Technica ATH-PRO500MK2

Price is above budget by long shot /:
699 from Jaben I think. Cheapest I could find is around 530rm (lazada)

But considered!

SHURE SRH440?  hmm.gif
*
Hmmm, looks good, and definitely in my budget!
Have to check them out though, looks a bit too big a comfortable 4 hour travel everyday. And reviews say they get uncomfortable after an hour or two of constant use.
But considered. Thanks!

Many people in the audio world would bash you for saying you love the sound of beats lol
given their quality, i'd say their real worth is probably RM200. If you love bass you can try UE9000 or V-Moda M100. Unfortunately only the UE9000 has a wireless model.
*
UE4500 is also wireless, but I'm not sure if you can connect via cable. So once the battery is dead, it would be useless.

QUOTE(NoiZy @ Nov 26 2013, 06:16 PM)
Guys, I saw a Parrot Zik, is it recommend or seriously overrated, have been reading numerous reviews, all have mixed feelings and I'm getting more confused.

My case:
Live in a rented room with 2 more friends, so prefer wireless stuff.
Commute via public transport daily, so wireless is much better. Noise Cancelling is a bonus.
I like the design but dislike the price and soft pouch.

I'm not really an avid audiophile, but would love something of good quality and comfy, if I say I want something to last long, I will just be slapping myself, nothing is built to last anymore, its just how we care for it right whistling.gif

Anyways, my friend ask me to try beats (dre), almost bought it, love the sound and all, its comfy and looks cool. But then again, I would prefer a brand that not many people knows, so they might laugh me off as buying pasar malam stuff. Hehehe
*
For wireless, right now only Parrot Zik and UE9000 comes into mind. And I guess with your budget you can afford em.
If you like the beats headphone sounds, it probably means you like bass oriented headphones. I'm not sure if Parrot and Logitech UE headphones are bass oriented bevause I never got to try them but from the reviews, their sound is really good. And the +noise cancellation

Sony recently released a mp3 player/headphone/speaker. The Walkman WH series. 2 versions, which are the 40mm driver version with 4gb of memory, which is superaural, on the ear. And the 50mm version which has 16gb memory, and it is over the ear. I only checked out the bigger one, and it sounds good. The prices are 399 and 599 respectively.

*prefer a brand that not many people knows* <- exactly what I'm aiming for as well, I'm trying to buy Griffin woodtones over the ear headphones. But you can get much better headphones.

For a wireless headphone, you can check out http://jaben.com.my/shopping2/GoldRing-NS1...tion-Headphone/

If you're okay with wired headphones, you should check out SOL Republic. They have one wireless model, but I don't think it's out yet or it's not available in malaysia. The SOL republic has quite a few models to choose from but I would recommend the Sol Republic Master Tracks Headphones (over the ear) or Sol Republic Tracks Ultra Headphones (on ear).

Hope this helps smile.gif

Looking for a headphone for Gaming and music purpose.

Budget <200

prefer 3.5mm input

Thanks in advance

Logitech G230 Stereo Gaming Headset (with mic) RM 199

Razer Electra (no mic) RM 219

And Razer Kraken RM 199 while the Kraken Pro with mic is for RM 299. Kraken should be better for overall music and gaming.

SteelSeries 4H RM 189

SteelSeries Siberia V2 without mic RM 199. This should also be a good choice for overall music and gaming since the headphones are kind of DJ/gaming.

hey guys im looking for a over ear headphone and my budget is around rm1500 +- For now there are 3 model in my list which is Bowers and Wilkins P7, Beoplay H6 and Sennheiser Momentum or any other brand that fits my budget and requirements. I will usually listen to house music and Top 40s music. Hopefully you guys can shed some light for me. Cheers!

You didn't explain your situation verywell.

If you are going to use it at home, do you have an amp? Or if you're also going to use it outside, for transportation, you could get a portable amp.

You can lower your headphone budget to around 1k and get a decent amp.

Not really my forte but sifus here should be able to help~

- Rig : S S2, iPod shuffle, laptop
- Type of usage : Musics (movies and gaming as well, but mostly movies
- Format : mostly MP3, but FLAC on my laptop
- Genre : rock mostly. but there's prolly no genre i don't listen to
- Type of earphone : over ears
- Budget : rm200 (actual budget is rm300 but don't want to use all my money on a headphone)

going to be using it everyday for traveling around 3 to 4 hours. so if possible, headphones with minimal leakage. and detachable cords are a big plus! (was only looking into headphones with detachable cords before)
mic not important and prefer non bluetooth. only stuff that use cables
thanks in advance

I'm looking for a best for buck headphones ranging from Rm100-200 and Rm200-300. It depends on if the advantage is really needed or not. I'm using it to listen to my music playing, but also for normal music listening. Headphones (closed or open, but closed sounds better)

Although, Its originally supposed to be used as for studio purposes. I got myself a new bass guitar and practice amp to go with it. So something with a lil more bass sounds good. But i also have an electric guitar with a gigging amp. But the important part is the clarity for the bass.

Have already looked at the Audiothechnica ATH M30, Beyerdynamic dt231 pro, the soundlux hd668B. So any recommendations/experiences to share, and places to get it...? I'm around KL area. Thank you.
*
I haven't tried out any of the headphones you mentioned but I got my headphones last month.

Went to lowyat to buy something similar to ATH M30, but saw PRO5MK2 within my budget (got if for 310rm).
Bass is good and sound feels like it's coming from around you, not just from one point. Bass lacks the punchiness though, so people feel like there's less bass. Guitar and bass solos sound really good on these, but I only to em on youtube and all.

- Headphone / Amp  type : do recommend, im planning to get both  headphones (comfortable) + dac & amp combo (doesn't require any extra AC power)
- Budget : best value for money ? appreciate if u could give me some option

thanks

Probably best if you decide on how much you want to spend first.
Because for different price ranges, you're going to get different quality and value.
And with a good budget, you are better off getting 2 headphones, one for gaming, another for movies/music.

hey. can you guys/girl help me? i dunno which one to pick. either the se215 limited edition or a-jays 5(for android)

can you please list the pro and cons? please?
*
well, i never tried any of those, but definitely the shure se215 (just my opinion)
in the long run the flat cable might be a nuisance since you'll feel it to be heavier than a normal cable.

while reading the reviews, i could say that if you don't like the se215 design (the over ear cable) then you're not going to like wearing it.
but it seems like you can change the cable, and you can choose whether you want a mic or not. +1 for the se215
by that i mean it's a replaceable cable, can't change the design. please don't misunderstand~

QUOTE(THEswordmaster @ Jan 19 2014, 04:26 AM)
Hi, I owned an AD700 and it's still doing well after 3 years. I've being thinking of getting it to work since my earphone at office is beyond rescue. But I notice that my headphone is "loud" enough that others can hear what I'm listening to feets away.

So i've being thinking of buying a new full cup headphone, comfortable, minimum noise leak (I don't know if this is what you call it), and the budget is below RM300 if possible.
I'm not an audiophile, just want some comfortable headphone to listen to some music/video throughout the workday.

Thanks in advance.
*
Well, AD700 is an open air headphone, meaning the back of the headphone lets air in for for more natural sounds. (not sure if this is the right way to explain though, hahah) and open air headphones are like mini speakers. then send as much sound outside, as they let you hear.

currently i'm using ATH PRO5MK2 and the noise leakage is very low. sure in a quiet room, on full volume when i wear it, others can hear a bit. but on 60~80% volume almost no sound is leaked. since i haven't tested out a lot of products, i'll only say that what i have (for 310rm) is worth the money.

edit: you might want to check out ATH M30 and M35.

hi all sifu, for basshead, should i ought for Beyerdynamic XP 1, XP 3 or Vsonic GR02 BE???

A max budget of RM200  biggrin.gif
*
Hello
I've tried all 3 of the Beyerdynamic XP series, but haven't tried out the Vsonic IEMs yet.
Out of the three from the XP series, I would say the XP 3 is much more clearer even in terms of bass. I felt the XP1 can't handle the bass at top volumes.
I use Sony MDR-EX310SL which is also for 200, and it has good bass. Probably not for bassheads but for a budget IEM, the bass is really good and the mids/highs are also good. I would have recommended it would be really hard to find a seller, or even to test it out. Hahah
Or the MDR-XB60EX/S might sound right, it has some good bass.

I expected as much...
I can't believe that wanting merely decent but durable cans require such a large amount of money.
How about I bump it up to 300?
*
How about ATH M35?
It has some pretty good reviews about being really durable. And good sound quality as well. I think it's around 220~240rm area.
I'm using ATH PRO5MK2, which I got for 310. Sound is really good, the plastic feels really strong as well. Fell a couple of times, but barely a scratch, and no bumps.
I've read good reviews about Shure SRH240 as well, but haven't checked up it's durability.

My advice would be pump up a bit more cash and get something which has a detachable cord. When you're looking into a durable set of cans, that's the first thing you should do. I had Griffin Woodtones and Shure SRH440 on my mind. The woodtones have to be imported so you prolly want to cut that off your list. But the SRH440 costs around 350rm

Hey guys, I need help too.

my rig: smartphone & laptop
type of usage : music
file format used: mp3
genre of music: all genre and bass oriented, give me two choices, one normal and one for bass, because sometimes I like to listen to electronic music and let my ears get raped
earphone type: strictly IEM, would like to try headphone too if its good, but I've been an IEM user since forever, not sure if I'd like a headphone
budget: under 150. the most I've ever spent is 80-ish, now I would like to splurge more although its not much.

Thanks!!!
*
Try checking out the Jaben website once in a while, they have good deals biggrin.gif

This is one good deal if you want an IEM, http://jaben.com.my/shopping2/Audio-Techni...o-E3-Amplifier/ (note* not sure how long the deal will be up)

And if you go to the home page of the online shopping page, you might see there's a promotion for members. 50rm for annum membership card. And there's a promotion for Berydynamic DTX 510 P
I think that on ear headphone will be worth your budget.
