Well so far the one at Proton Section 13 are ok, rest are not. I have yet to send this time to them, scared they tell me the same thing. Last time I wanted to replace the clutch at renautech, they quoted a very high price. But shouldn't the clutch be same for most cars? Savvy is mostly the ignition coil, tdc sensor  and AMT probs.

Before anything else, please proceed to buy 1 spare clutch cable and keep inside your trunk.

Clutch in Shawie is uniquely DESIGNED TO FAIL within 30k, sometimes 20k mileage. Mine, last changed was last year September, and December already same plobrem recurred. The same squeeking sound happened to most(if not all) Shawie when you have enough chance to meet up with fellow Shawie members during TT. For your information, the clutch itself has nothing to do with the squeeking sound you heard. The sound emit from the clutch cable LINK inside the gearbox. There's a linkage block that pull the FORK between your clutch cable. That's the damn thing needed frequent lubrication. Should you know how to do so, unplug the clutch cable, lube it with grease and plonk it back, then your clutch pedal will sound as new. As for the heavy weight feeling, it was the clutch cover. For God knows reason, all brand/version/grade of clutch cover/shoe you use, eventually the clutch cover spring will grow weak in EXTREMELY short time. Such weight without an efficient spring would translate as a 30tons truck feeling when you hit the pedal. Nonetheless, such heavy clutching action is the main culprit of causing the joint/linkage block to squeek whistling.gif

Clutch cover is the top most round shape UFO with stripes extending from the middle. Clutch pad is the black color thingy at the bottom with coil springs. Those stripes on the clutch cover are the springs that will reject your clutch pad from the flywheel when you hit the clutch pedal. When those springs starts failing/losing tension, you'll have to press the clutch pedal very hard to release your clutch pad.

Trust me, you can spend all your money replacing clutch for the rest of your Shawie's life, and the same thing will come back and haunt you over and over again every few months down the road. My car already running 179k currently, still staying strong - BUT WITH THE SQUEEKING SOUND. Occassionally I will get my magician to lube my clutch cable and it will stop squeeking like a pig for few weeks. Good luck. Feel free to lurk around our official Shawie thread in LYN. Although it's half dead, but few of the senior members still there to answer your questions.

Wow thanks for the detailed explanation! How come I don't see any Savvy members experiencing that issue? Btw, what was your permanent solution to this problem? Just lubricating? But that won't solve the super heavy feel right?

First, to answer your question of other members complain. There are many Shawie owner having the problem, but didn't voice it out. Ayam having the problem, but knowing can't change the fact neither can I do anything about it. Might as well spend money do up other stuff on the car, instead of sitting here cry like a baby cry sky cry earth also kenot solve the heavy clutch issue.

Our clutch set usually around RM350 ~ RM500 depending on grades. Cheapest workmanship also will cost RM180, thanks to hypermount previous discovery went up North trip. Generally in KL, servicing clutch in Shawie labor would cost atleast RM300. So, ayam guessing Renautech quoted you RM700 for the clutch replacement. You pandai² make the decision. If you still decided to give it a shot, please proceed to change the clutch set then. Do take note to use different kind/brand/grade of clutch for your car, so you can compare which 1 can last you longer. Please let us know if you found any clutch set that can last you 50k mileage. I'd like to try it out smile.gif

I have previously explained, the clutch cover is the main culprit that causes all other problem. In my opinion, it's a design flaw. It not only happened in Shawie, so as Renault Clio, Kangoo also having the same issue of 30tons truck clutch. There's no permenant cure for this, I even suspect our almighty AMT that always rosak also caused by the weaken clutch cover. Do take note, regardless manual or AMT, we share the same engine/gearbox. Only thing is, if you're using AMT, the robot go die fast. If you're using manual, your left knee joint pain doh.gif Lube it up will slightly ease the pedal action a little bit, but will not cure it in the long run.

w33wawa, I think your car last time also squeeking rite? Now is what? 1 month already since last service? Got come back or not?
