Thanks bro One small set for Lego, One big step to complete my Lego collection... For you you definitely look familiar.. undeniable...

Voted for you to become PM, make it compulsory for every house to have at least a set of Lego!
Yes, next general election please vote for me to be PM! I will make sure I "Ubah" the country so that every household can afford to buy Lego, Lego classes are compulsory in school, no tax on Lego, LegoLand in every state, additional tax breaks for Lego purchase, give incentive to TLG to setup factory in Malaysia, setup Lego design school, create new ministry for Lego development in Malaysia together with new cabinet post for Lego Minister, build the tallest building in the world from Lego bricks etc. these are all my election promises to the rakyat. Please vote for me! rclxms.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

So in 5 years you will see me campaigning, please attend all my ceramah! Lego poly bags will be distributed in exchange for your IC, you will also receive a minifig poster bearing resemblance to me! tongue.gif

the extremis set is only usd18 on amazon, while the superman set is usd25. over here is rm100, rm125 respectively.

i dont think alj is selling cheap, i think bottom line this set memang is very bargain price from lego itself.
*
Perhaps ALJ has finally convinced TLG to revise pricing for Malaysia? I think sales of Lego sets has increased exponentially with the opening of LLM and now we are starting to see the benefit in terms of lower prices... A sifu here once whispered to me that news from the grapevine is that TLG/ALJ will be lowering their prices this year. I hope this is a sign of it happening! Will be bad news for resellers but great news for the general public! rclxms.gif

Lucky ass guy
*
This is not healthy, TLG's original intention of spicing up the CMF series is creating a world wide hunt by ADULTS for it, kids are at the losing end of this. What are the chances of a kid grabbing a few packets and getting lucky with Mr. Gold when the staff in all the toy stores have felt them to bits? Moreover, because of this frantic hunt for Mr. Gold each packet is being felt more aggressively and by more people than before thus increasing the chances of the contents within to be damaged. I won't be surprised if some of the printing on the torso or legs got scratched because of this...

QUOTE(vey99 @ May 12 2013, 08:18 PM)
i doubt sales increase leads to price drop

maybe, lego have given tougher distributor targets, so if distributor dont achieve them, goodbye horses.

Yesterday after hauling so much and I sat down and look at all the set... I enjoying the view of all my Lego set that I managed to haul for last 2 months (or maybe 3).... then some old memories struck me where I used to enjoy my Lego with my 2nd ex... maybe I should go back to find her... I remember "Do the right things, and Do things right"... Yes, I admit I'm an addict for Lego wink.gif and darn, I miss the moment where we were fixing Lego together. She is flying off this Friday, and I asked myself, "why dun I give it a last shot? Never try never know"...

QUOTE(hanzard @ May 13 2013, 12:31 AM)
Hello everyone

I am a newbie who has just joined this forum and started collecting not too long ago. For now I am focused only on modular sets and Star Wars as there is just too much to collect. Am also too kiamsiap to buy one to keep and one to build at the moment but that might change when I am confident I can sell off the extra set. Met a guy in Amcorp mall today who had a Market Street set in a very banged up box but he was telling me he would only let it go at close to 2k. Very nice guy and he has Cafe Corner as well.
Anyway hope to meet more collectors here to share info n to buy and sell (haha this is not possible cos i have no extra sets)
*
Are you sure you heard that right? 10190 Market Street is selling for more than RM2.5k in BrickLink and that's before shipping! If he's asking for between 2-2.5k its a good buy IMHO! Better yet if can close deal at RM2k! I'm curious on his asking price for Cafe Corner, did he tell you how much it is?

In case you do buy that banged up box of Market Street, I suggest you open up the box and check the contents. If it's all still in original Lego polybags then its fine but if it's not then you better be careful, no suggesting anything here but an unscrupulous seller can con an unsuspecting buyer by putting parts sourced from BrickLink into an original box and sell it as a vintage set...

QUOTE(mystique_nw @ May 13 2013, 12:32 AM)
I think greenbricks have the bride n groom mf. U can try. What I can confirm is that greenbricks has the love brick.

Anyway what I heard next year Lego will take over, so direct distribution. ALJ no more. I guess that explains on the price drop. Hopefully the price will still be low after the take over. Might be this is due to LLM being in Malaysia. What I really hope is the low price n shop@home is working as what they have in US.
*
Let's all pray for this to happen soon! rclxms.gif

QUOTE(hanzard @ May 13 2013, 12:42 AM)
Nice to meet you mryellow! I will post pics of my collection soon when i have a decent sized one haha. At the moment I only have 5 sets Palace Cinema, Super Star Destroyer, Pet Shop, Technics Hovercraft and the Highway Speedster. No i did not get Market Street and Cafe Corner but hope to get them someday hehe.
*
If you must have Market Street and Cafe Corner then don't wait, price will never drop. Prices may not go up much more either but it will be harder to find a good condition set at a reasonable price as time passes...

QUOTE(mystique_nw @ May 13 2013, 12:52 AM)
Market street saw it at amcorp mall today but kotak hancur. Last time got people offered me ms rm 600 or 800 cant remember. Now oredi 3000? Anyway i didnt buy it coz i am simply not attracted. If gg 800 i would grab. Aah gg, cinta yang tak kesampaian. Cc too. Huhu
*
Honestly, before owing them I was going ga ga over Cafe Corner and Market Street but after I finished building them I just chucked them aside and went back to playing with my favourite Fire Brigade. To put simply, Cafe Corner and Market Street are "empty shells": The exterior is beautiful but the interior has no details unlike the newer modulars. To be fair, they were the first two so naturally newer sets were improved based on feedbacks from customers.

Having said that, both will look fantastic in any city layout and are iconic because they were the first two in the modular series. icon_rolleyes.gif

Wow! The rumoured new pricing structure drew lots of interests! Went out for lunch and missed a few pages already! rclxub.gif

I didn't have a good lunch because at the back of my mind I keep seeing the price of RM629 for Palace Cinema which I have sold at RM700 to so many peeps! cry.gif I felt bad that my friends didn't get a good deal. If this is really a sign of things to come then I am truly happy because finally we can enjoy lower prices for Lego in Malaysia! However, at the same time I am starting to share the same dislike for ALJ now. If they can really offer it at RM629 why haven't they done so earlier? I remember seeing it at BBT Garden and a few TRU stores before and it was very much higher. I can't help but to think ALJ is trying to "bomb" prices for the popular sets to teach resellers a lesson... My next question is are the new low prices here to stay or they will be increased when this marketing campaign is over?

I really hope to see lower prices across the board for Lego, we have been suffering for too long. All the importing we're doing is only enriching the pockets of courier companies and the tax man.

I am very sure representatives from ALJ, Brickboys are lurking here in the forum, after all this is their business and grey importers do affect them. So ALJ and to some extent TLG, wake up and buck up! shakehead.gif

Someone in Amcorp Mall mentioned about the mass COD in SS2 McD? Wow! News spread quickly! Actually I had two COD outside Amcorp Mall yesterday, I did it for two person who couldn't make it to Tmn Tun on Saturday and they were shopping at Amcorp Mall. whistling.gif

is ALJ sell RM629? What is ALJ... rclxub.gif

ALJ is the offical importer of Lego for Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Cambodia. The Lego you see in BrickBoys, Toys R Us, Parkson, AEON etc. are all supplied by ALJ. Lego Land Malaysia too if I am not wrong... Google "ALJ Lego" and you will find them.

This is a rumour but supposedly the source is very close to BrickBoys/ALJ so it is credible. Let's just hope it is true for everyone's sake! biggrin.gif

eh i thought you giving price match like horizon express - working out the RM60 difference.  Palace Cinema price difference is how much ar?  whistling.gif

actually i think so many resellers springing out is not good business for ALJ. by doing this price reduction, they are weeding out those resellers. Those that are not getting good suppliers or get burnt wont dare to venture into reselling and fight with the big boys already.... LOL.... most importantly, its a win-win-win for consumers!!  thumbup.gif

Yes, seems like this is their strategy to kill off resellers. It will be a good thing for consumers if they keep prices low from now on. I'm all for it! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Actually having more resellers puts the pressure on ALJ to keep prices low. Good check and balance. rclxms.gif thumbup.gif

Lol awesome concept. We should try to find people to implement this here.
Town Hall is last year release so doubt it will be EOL anytime soon. The next in line should be Grand Emporium then Pet Shop lol.

Anyway scout report from Mid Valley. TRU still has untouched Lone Ranger sets but no Ironman. Shelves are almost empty for some corners. Usual Star Wars sets are there. Series 10 packets are heavily molested that it seems like it's on the verge of puncturing a hole. Jusco has lots of Duplo and Friends while Brickboys has Malibu Mansion in stock. Series 10 in Brickboys looks more proper and the packets still in good looking condition but not much left.
*
Thanks for the report! BrickBoys still have the big lot of Ninjago sets in the middle of the shop? Am tempted to get collect some Ninjagos... biggrin.gif

Hee Hee. This is a real gem... It is the fact that these sets are under appreciated when they are available that makes them so sought after when it is discontinued... brows.gif icon_idea.gif If you look back at the history of sets that price shot up like crazy after EOL you will notice it.

Tower bridge consider as modular but not modular buildings, correct? biggrin.gif

1. Fire Brigade - Rel 2009 EOL: 2013
2. Grand Emporium - Rel 2010
3. Pet Shop - Rel 2011
4. Town hall - Rel 2012
5. Mini modulars - Rel 2012
6. Palace Cinema - Rel 2013
*
Hmmm.... I don't think so. I think Tower Bridge falls under Lego Exclusive, same theme as Modular Buildings. Modular Buildings allows you to connect with other modulars and each level is removable. Tower Bridge is like a gigantic scale architecture series.

New theme for Modular now is "Expert" series.

QUOTE(hanzard @ May 16 2013, 04:09 PM)
I need GE to complete my collection. Anybody got GE for sale?

Any chance that GE will be discontinued before Fire Brigade?

You got pm! icon_idea.gif

QUOTE(Bigfoot-X @ May 16 2013, 04:23 PM)
I was under the impression the EOL would be in sequence or order by date release ie. FIFO (First In First Out).

Or am I wrong?
*
It doesn't necessarily follow that trend but naturally TLG will do that. Some sets like 10188 Death Star survived until today while all the Star Wars sets from 2008 has discontinued. And then there are also sets that go into early retirement... Ultimately it is a commercial decision TLG has to make.

QUOTE(hanzard @ May 16 2013, 04:28 PM)
That would certainly make sense and it was the case before. Just wondering out loud whether there is any chance of GE becoming discontinued first because I already have FB and I see far more FBs on sale than GE.
*
This one I can confirm, Fire Brigade will go EOL this year. Grand Emporium and Pet Shop will still be in production until 2014. Whether they will continue production after 2014 I don't know yet, rest assured being a big fan of Modular Buildings I am keeping a close eye on this and report if I hear anything! nod.gif

QUOTE(mryellow19 @ May 16 2013, 04:39 PM)
I think FB is more on sale to push out stocks since EOL is soon (supposedly). I really doubt GE will discontinued first before FB.
*
Normally, one sign of a set going EOL is price drop! icon_idea.gif (and low stock levels)

Any sets just released in the market will hold firm to its RRP and slowly drop in price as it approaches EOL...

Eh, don't quote me with GE and PS going EOL in 2014 ya! They will continue to be available till 2014, whether they will go EOL or continue to 2015 I don't know yet. Although given the trend GE is expected to go EOL in 2014, we'll just have to wait for news from our sources... brows.gif

There are simply not much set release under this series (if i'm not mistaken only 3 thus far) but look at the last few set .... all boom up like crazy.

The DS is an exceptional case, from business point of view, selling this 1 set alone could mean equal profit margin compare to selling 20 set of those smaller US20. So bro do you think the B-Wing going to EOL soon? Recent 50% off and the "Nice to see but once touch confirm brick fall off".  biggrin.gif

I already reported in the forum that 10227 B-Wing Starfighter is going EOL. icon_idea.gif

B Wing looks ugly and unbalanced (it is lopsided when you display it) to me but you are scaring me by saying it is going to EOL soon haha. I fear i will regret it later on. Must take a long hard look at it again. Anybody built B Wing before?

I like the B-Wing actually, it looked kinda serene standing lop-sided like that... I was also planning to get it only when it is going EOL but never expected it to go EOL in a year! doh.gif

So who bought B Wing at 50% off and willing to pass some of the discount down to buyers?

Bro Alby already said he will "borong" it! I also wished can get special price! hahaha! doh.gif
